  1. A riggers good work is priceless.. However I sometimes work for food and that is no lie.. I would "charge" you a cheesburger and a coke or you could pay 10$ that would be your choice. On a busy DZ day, somone making a food run is worth more then money in your pocket at the end of the day. food=
  2. I am intrested in going to Mardi gras boogie, anyone driving thru my part of the country, perhaps looking to car pool? I really don't want to drive by myself. I live in South east kansas but could travel to catch a ride. Next draw back is that I have school and can't really miss class on Thursday or Mondays. www.greenboxphotography.com
  3. Wendy at no point did I even begin to say that a diaper would be bad, I don't know how you could come up with that. I was told by my instructor during my training this style diaper affectionally called a "death diaper" was of a poor design, few where made as it was a quickly found to fail. What differentitaes was how the bands stowed and locked the lines into place. the bottom band would not unlock if stowed incorrectly and this was easily accomplished mistake I guess. If you want more info I can contact my former instructor and get that for you. just pm me with the request. www.greenboxphotography.com
  4. Used to work with a drunk, he would of course call in late all the time, but he would also miss alot of work. His best to me was one day he called and said he would be late as he was driving to work he realized he forgot to shave and would have to return home to do so. he never called back and never came in that day. he still works for the company and somehow survived the recent down size.. I am not sure why? www.greenboxphotography.com
  5. Chris, are you not familiar with the death diaper, two band stow system? the one that did not want to open all that much! www.greenboxphotography.com
  6. RUN AWAY FROM THE IP'S.... I have one, it is crap.. did I say crap.. how about total P.O.S!!!!!!!!! www.greenboxphotography.com
  7. I would never pack anything that old for anyone. I used to have an old rig, it had a round reserve in it. Later in life I went to rigging school and there was that old rig and canopy in it.. the canopy had a "death diaper" (no free bag on round). and I wish that my rigger back when I purchased that rig would have told me NO to packing that thing. You where handed a blessing, run with that to the gear store and get your man a new canopy! if you don't have the money get it! be safe today, jump again another day. www.greenboxphotography.com
  8. Well the plumbers are gone and I have new water lines, some kind of expansion line that will freeze if could enough but will tend not to break but expand. One of the guys who was under the house in the cold wet mud noticed a big gap in the foundation due to the house setteling, so that has a temp fix until I can get under there and fix the place. Too bad no skating rink in the back yard, just under the house!! No I can rest eay until the bill arrives! www.greenboxphotography.com
  9. Just venting my frustration as I move into my 3rd day with no water.. well it's not to say that I don't have water. The plumbers under my house right now will tell you that I have plenty of water coming from that now broken pipe! Another one of the reasons I am growing to dislike winters and living in old houses! www.greenboxphotography.com
  10. Approved or not, it's all blunt force and that shit will knock you out like mike tyson. www.greenboxphotography.com
  11. Dude You have to get a big ol fat folder and fill that thing with every recipt that you can get when you are going to get a 1099.. gas, car miles, fun jumps become training jumps, buying film, cameras and all that stuff becomes part of the business. Now you get all these great breaks, you have to keep thouse pain in the ass records for years after you claim them.. Pay your packer a check and keep the record! www.greenboxphotography.com
  12. If you are passing thru the South East corner of kasnas at any time then you have a free place to stay. Little Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  13. Boxingrrl I am a smaller TM, I am 5'6 and a whole 130 pounds, not a big guy at all and I find that I can do any size tandem out there, I prefer the smaller passengers but have taken all of them. We use cessna 182 and I do a poised exit, it's a little harder on the back, but they are flat and stable as soon as I leave the plane! There are so many little tricks that will just come with time, and because it works for that TM it may not be your thing. so only time will help you. Simple things lie leaving a little play in the harness, not so tight on the lower hook ups seems great to me.. I used to snug that all the way down. One major draw back to my small size is that upon landing the passenger if tall can really screw us by jabbing at the dirt for landing, they have to pick there feet up really far.. Its fun though, but endurance is a major problem for me, I just am not physically strong.. so do what you can and no more if you are not so strong. and as everyone else says, watch that side spin video.. man those suck! 14. NO that is not a good rig.. I think the container maybe, but the canopys are nothing more then something to hang from the DZ walls or let the kids play with. www.greenboxphotography.com
  15. ChaosKitty You have opend us to a daunting question that I think alot of us ask ourselves. In my first years of skydiving I was very selfish and the skydive lifestyle had me, and I spent all my time going to the DZ, talking about skydiving and thru that I messed up a few good relationships, missed so many family events and just spent every dime I had at the DZ. I would say that maybe I missed alot of the life that I once new but gained in my new skydive life. Jumping took me places where my previous life left off and that made me feel that I had gains, and some of those where true gains, however in retrospect ditching a girlfriend to go do a certin jump was really a loss. It has been very hard to balance gains and loss, in the last few years doing tandems my gain has been good as I get to take people to there dreams and help them accomplish something. But I also stay at home some weekends now, and when I had a girlfriend I spent time with her, left the DZ a bit early to be with family and friends. The gain and loss crosses my mind more and more now then ever before, it the years of jumping and the desire to do other things that I have put off. Great question and now I am going to be thinking about this more thru out the day and maybe more. Little Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  16. bro you have to manage all the air gaps, get stuff to cover the gaps at the bottom of the door, or where ever you may have a gap. Go to the feed store and by STRAW bails of hay and place them around the foundation of the house. Cover those windows ghetto style with Plastic and get the drafts out. Open the cabnet doors under the sinks so the pipes get what warmth there is. Lastly call the landlord/slumlord or a heat and air dude and get them to fix the furnace.. Stay warm, my old house is the same way.. burr www.greenboxphotography.com
  17. Line twist could be an endless guess on how and why, canopy to old, out of trim. the way the lines are stowed, length of lines, pilotchute could be old and the kill line has shrunk to make it pull funny, the old body position.. the list goes on and on man.. Try packing your friends canopy, see what happens.. just do a process of elimination and when all else fails.. just forget about it and just accept it as a new adventure each time you deploy. www.greenboxphotography.com
  18. I am up for a drive and it looks as if Kasnas skydiver could pick me up on his way south as well.. But seriously I am sorry to hear about this whole deal and our rosa is one strong girl. My positive thoughts for you are all I can provide at this time Rosa. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  19. Kojak would be better the Starsky and hutch.. When the TV program Starsky and Hutch was going on, a local cop got himself a S&H car, all painted up and everything, he thought he was so cool.. did the local parades and events.. it was so foolish. We live in such a small town that it was just so funny to see Ray think he was cool.. today he owns one of the bikes from CHIPS.. what legend in his own mind. Maybe Ray will find his old car now the movie is coming back. www.greenboxphotography.com
  20. When I packed I was never asked by a customer to use a packing mat. and I would direct you to another packer or have said yes for a buck or two more to do so. Would I have been pissed off that you ask? no! Little Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  21. Well that is out of the way now! no wondering what it going to be like any longer.. My first was on a tandem, so it was my 1st cut away and my passengers 1st airplane ride, 1st skydive and 1st function.. man that dude should have owed so beer or something! Good job on your reactions to your cutaway! www.greenboxphotography.com
  22. Well on a busy day and we are cranking them out, we of course spend les time with them (fun jumps) and usally just cover exit and arch.. I will avoid at all cost talking about landing until after the canopy is flying.. I am not a very large guy so I want the arch to be good, and if I train them for landing I have found that some of them think only about landing. My DZ staff work well with each other, we all have an understanding what training level is the same across to board so we know what to expect if we just get tossed a "student". If we have time we cover exits and arch in more detail.. but usally we just harness, arch them and go to the plane! I do not like to give the passenger an alti either, I have found and have video of students just looking at the thing the entire dive! Oh we really don't train with tandem either, just IAD and AFF. Little Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  23. Yo bro.. I got a pie baking for you right now! Next time I am up North I will bring it along, should be nice and fresh by then! When you are ready for that Tandem rating, let me know as will ride with you and show you some of the stunts my past students have pulled on me! yeehaw.. Congrats on the 500..... Favorite poem

Not sure that it is a poem, but I dig it anyway. Such is the power of literature: it speaks of joy and makes one dance; it speaks of sarrow and makes one weep; it speaks of retirement and makes one detached; it speaks of love and makes one tender; it speaks of danger and makes one shiver; it speaks of pent up anger and makes one cautious; it speaks of indignation and makes one lay one's hand on the sword; it speaks of incitment to action and makes one throw down the pen; it speaks of the high and makes one soar up to the clouds; it speaks of the low and makes one roll down the rocks. It shakes our hearts and dazzels our eyes, but this has nothing to do with stylistic embellishments. www.greenboxphotography.com
