Oh, your so in trouble for that statement!! GA folks came up to you and said hello!!
-
Happy birthday, sweetie! I hope you have a wonderful day! Wait, it's you, so you WILL have a wonderful day.

I haven't had time to address anything in this thread in the aftermath of the event, but I thought it was important to set the record straight on this. There was an established landing pattern on each and every load, briefed at the mock-up and listed on the dry-erase board facing jumpers as they approached the mock-up. At no time was there NOT a briefed landing pattern. There were a few people who busted the pattern, but they were immediately approached and the issues were addressed. As I was making constant rounds all day Saturday and most of Sunday, making sure everything was going as planned and advertised, anyone perceiving a problem or potential problem had only to approach me and make their concerns known. We addressed all concerns we saw or that were reported to us immediately, and there were no less than about 6 boogie organizers with eyes on the landing area at any given time. To reiterate: landing patterns were established prior to jumpers loading the plane, and were not only briefed but also listed on the dry-erase board at the mock-up, in plain sight and easy for jumpers to see. Anyone who broke the pattern was approached and the situation dealt with in a fair manner. Happy birthday, you beautiful lady, you!

I feel like a kid the night before Christmas! We got Ward's massive Mirage tent and wind-blades up, and Jeff Nebelkopf is in the house with all of his Tonysuits Wingsuit demos. As I was leaving for the day, Jeffro had just arrived! Tomorrow morning, we move Karl from Aerodyne out front with his urban assault vehicle and put up his wind-blades! This thing hasn't even STARTED yet, and we're ALREADY not sucking at Raeford! Dudes and dudettes, check with Hefe (Jeff) on the camping sitch. He's planning on hosting a huge tent city right across the runway, and it won't cost a thing to anyone who wants to camp there. We're planning on having and keg, a bonfire and serious nig-noggery there, so check with me or Hefe tomorrow or Saturday DAY. We WILL accommodate you. Now, that would be TELLING, wouldn't it? I just shared a "WHAMMY!" moment with Chuck, flying my Aerobird Challenger. If we can get it flying again by tomorrow afternoon (spare parts) we may be able to put on a mini show. Oh, and Jake, you should give me a call. Schedule and aircraft change for your demo jumps. We will NOT be sucking at Raeford this weekend. If nothing else, you could showcase your singing talents with songs like my all-time favorite, "Table-Butter". Seriously, there is so much going on here that I think you'd be hard-pressed not to have fun. Oh! We made it in the Fayetteville Observer for this Friday! Look for us in the Weekender edition! See you there! What, no random acts of nudity, as is par for the Spin-man course? Kevin - Sonic Beef #5 - OrFun #28 "I never take myself too seriously, 'cuz everybody know fat birds don't fly." - FLC Online communities: proof that people never mature much past high school.

I edited a post a few back - are we sure that tarantulas spin webs? They typically don't spin snare webs, but they will line their habitats with web, as well as covering their egg masses with it. Funnel-web tarantulas (much smaller than regular tarantulas) spin snare webs. It's obviously a tarantula, as Clint mentioned, but I'm having trouble placing it. If not for the more almond-shaped abdomen, I'd say it was a Pterinochilus chordatus. I'll keep looking. Doh! I think my suit will fit Trevor. If he wasn't LO'ing for freefly groups, I'd say he just volunteered for a flock. I'm really excited and thrilled over the response for this event. Believe it or not, I've still got prizes and swag arriving from various vendors. And thanks in advance for all our brother and sister up-jumpers and their friends and family for essentially closing up shop to come jump with us. You can bet we'll be at your DZ en masse for the 4th of July. It's too late to start a list, and too early to start a list for next year, so I'll just say that I can't wait to see all of you there! FIESTA! Formation Skydiving Boogie Aug 3-5
McDuck replied to jkong's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I'll see if I can get over this heartache. Maybe since you'll be here again soon for more than day will be enough to get me through this weekend without seeing your smiling face here. We'll miss you, but it sounds like your event at Cross Keys is going to be at LEAST as much fun. I'll send all the silly-fun energy I've got to all of you up there to help make your event the best EVER. You'd BETTER be able to make a jump! I need some more freefly footage of us goofing off. Hopefully Arvel can be here to participate. I just met Karl from Aerodyne, and I have to say that he's one class act. Professional, but fun and funny. Can't wait to jump with him...and the rest of you! Try and say the thread title to the tue of I saw Mommy kissing Santa Clause . . . I was thinking the same thing about an hour ago! Sunny, you seemed a bit dejected that it went by so quickly. You can do it, Kel. We believe in you.

It still had many cogent points with regard to the entire process, such as leaving out anything that doesn't pertain to the story you're trying to tell. I've seen plenty of skydiving videos that have five minutes of the plane ride up in which nothing is really happening except the shuffling of bodies and the rapid head moments of the cameraman. Also, unless there is something truly interesting or significant about your 2-6 minutes of canopy flight, narrow it to the opening and the landing if you're looking to present your finished product to fellow skydivers. We're all fairly familiar with the process of flying to enter the pattern, and it really doesn't add anything except time to the video. I'll have to go back and read the article again to see if it addresses this, but another thing that can make a project seem sloppy and ill-planned is not properly timing and/or fading any music you might have decided to add to your project. Nothing says, "meh" about your project more than a song that abruptly cuts out when the video ends. It's okay to have more song than video, just fade the music track out over 3-5 seconds right as the video is ending so that we get the impression that life, along with that song, goes on into the distance. Right now, the plan is to show the top 6 films and award prises, then show the remaining films to anyone interested. Trying to keep people seated and interested for 2.5hrs is a bit difficult when there's alcohol to be had. All of the movies will be represented on the DVD(s) we give to each participant. Thursday can't come soon enough! We've got 17 films that made it under the wire, we're finalizing the scores and we will be ready to give out some great prizes this coming Saturday! Also, there are a few Prize Hitmen who will be on the prowl at the boogie and looking to award their own special prizes to a lucky individual. For these prizes, you will have to be present to win. So, I hope to see as many of you as can make at it this shindig. We're going to have an amazing time at Raeford this weekend! You're such a bright and shining soul, Rosa. I can't imagine you NOT having a wonderful birthday. I'll send you all the happy-fun energy I've got in reserve just in case.

Hopefully we'll get an abundance of updates on this thread after this boogie. At the very least, I'll get to meet Clay for the first time. I'll make sure NOT to wear my wool coat. She was seen to be "inflating" him and then promptly "deflating" him. But wait, you knew that already. Kevin - Sonic Beef #5 - OrFun #28 "I never take myself too seriously, 'cuz everybody know fat birds don't fly." - FLC Online communities: proof that people never mature much past high school.

One of the videos submitted for my film festival had a clip of Sunshine helping "inflate" something in Wingnut's pants. However, it was all over so fast that even Sunny seemed disappointed. One key point that I'd like to stress is summed up perfectly in this statement from that site: " Every video editing package comes with at least a hundred transitions. That doesn't mean each one needs to be used." When your video is effects-heavy, it detracts from the entire project. The viewer is, ostensibly, watching your video to be entertained, not to see how many times you can wipe/fade, fade/wipe, repeat ad infinitum. The best transitions, especially when putting your video to music, are often straight cuts. I'm proud of you Kel...as if I had anything to do with how well you're doing at competing in these triathalons. Seriously though, I'm really impressed. At the risk of using a tired conversational-crutch of a cliche, you rock!
