    I'm sure they would, and sure others will regardless of a policy change. As mentioned above, this policy change is not for firefighters safety, it's for a CYA from lawsuits. In general, I feel stupid behaviors should be allowed and then used as examples for others when the inevitable occurs, not be the foundation of new restrictions for all.     I do the same thing. I always offer to pay half. If it was a get together with my friends or co-workers that I invited him to, I would be pretty insistent on paying. "Who pays the bill" can be a sticky situation. I agree with John and think a first date should be low key. Here is what I like to do on a first date: mountain biking on a local trail or long walk on a similar trail or pack some sandwiches and bottle of wine and go for a picnic somewhere. Oh yeah - wine tasting at a local winery is fun. All of the above are very low cost and make it very casual - which is what I like. Hope you aren't going into the woods first thing with people you meet on dating sites. Stick to public places with lots of people around as there are lots of crazies out there and it can be hard to tell just via emails, phone, and text.     This is the wrong argument to use. Stick with security as that is the major issue. You have a portion of a country all running around in a garment that obscures any physical characteristic other than maybe height. Someone wearing that garment commits a crime. Do the police now have the right to question/take in everyone that matches that description? Is that even practical? This should not be protected under religious freedoms either as religious practices are not allowed to trump other laws. Edited: Additionally does France not already have laws governing masks?     Why should I have to state every reason we are there? Even if I state them all you're just going to argue them all. The simple matter is like it or not, we're there. Once we start something we really need to finish it. Maybe in the next situation we may not act the same with the benefit of this hindsight, but that's always 20/20. I'm sure if 10's of trillions of dollars were pumped into a place like Haiti in the form of aid and military support, it might be able to become a tourist destination, but there's no way that will offer a return on the investment. Now that Afghanistan has had the mineral deposits discovered, we'll likely see more focus on them as well. Now if onlythe pesky people would simply go away Nah. They're useful for labor and running the local mining/drilling operations. It's generally the leaders of the countries that have been screwing their people over for decades that are the biggest resistors to the outside influence as they know as the people actually start to get money and independence they'll see what a shitbag they really are. I've bought all the clothes, luggage, and food needed to survive the next week until I leave for Lost Prairie. I'm filing a restraining order against my wallet until next Saturday as well as placing myself on house arrest.

    Just because they didn't have AQ or the Taliban does not mean they did not have state sponsored terrorism. Yes there is alot of shitty things happening in various countries of the world but we as the self appointed world police can't save everyone. There has to be some hope or potential for that country to be able to succeed. Haiti, Darfur, Rwanda, and the Congo are sadly mostly lost causes. This could easily be reversed to "Why did Saddam kill and torture his people and directly support terrorism?" which could lead to another question, and another, etc. While it's important to understand how a bad situation got to where it is, it's equally important to end it.
