    They should be protected in exactly the same way anyone else should be protected. If the government says "I'm not going to stop you, but if anyone else decides to beat the crap outta ya I'll be looking the other way" that's not true freedom of speech either. I'm not saying the police should look the other way if something happens, but they should take strictly a reactionary position. For this particular group? That's still favouritism based on the type of speech. How is that favoritism? Anyone can say anything they want, but they have to deal with the consequences, just as the person who reacts to them has to do. Currently groups like this hide behind law enforcement and use them as protection. If they only enforced versus trying to protect,this issue would have died out years ago as these idiots would get tired of being beat up, even if some did get convicted of assault.     yes. You can fire people who are part of it, or contributed to Prop 8. There are many punishments you can dole out. But you don't get to beat them up - that's called assault,battery. Correction. I'm not saying the police should look the other way if something happens, but they should take strictly a reactionary position. Ex. WB or similar protester is assaulted in some way. The police should then intervene after the fact to identify who did it and charge them with whatever crime they committed. If these or other protestors are assaulted, they of course should be allowed due process, but protecting them proactively only leads to this sort of behavior.     I wonder how many of these cleanup workers are going to be sick the rest of their lives, like so many of those who got paid to cleanup the Exxon Vadez spill have been I think this made up political crisis is going to have some very long term effects on a hell of a lot of people. This was/is a major situation but we still don't know the total impact, nor may never know. This is where firms independent of the oil companies AND the government are needed to get an unbiased perspective, paid equally by both parties.     I won't. Fuck 'em. I don't have issue with them being able to protest. I have issue with using public funds to defend them from the reactions of their own speech. Any police should maintain a strictly reactionary stance. If one of the Westboro or a similar group is injured, attempt to determine who assaulted them and arrest/detain that person. No more, no less. Freedom of speech also means that other citizens have the freedom to kick your ass, just not the right to.

Although your tacit implication matches the movie that made the acronym famous, the definition of "mom" certainly includes women with grade school or younger kids that still look hot. At least in my book. Now if they can still look great by the time the kids are in college, that's even better.

    Wouldn't that depend on if they were doing travel reimbursements or stipends? If simply a stipend, it doesn't matter how much or little a person pays for travel. If reimbursement, just change the policy so receipts are required.

    Or like a burger, one could choose to travel a further distance for one they liked better. I've known many over the years that would travel past 1 or more closer DZs to get to their home DZ. One even made a 12 hour round trip every weekend to get to their home DZ.

    Do you really think this? It seems very extreme. I'm pretty disgusted about how one dropzone out there supports unsafe behavior, and I refuse to jump there. But... their aircraft are provided by someone I deeply respect, and whose aircraft/pilots are terrific. While I won't jump at the aforementioned dropzone, I'm very happy to jump their aircraft at other locations, and don't feel a whit for it. This sport is too small to get too deep into isolationism, I think. I have no problem directly not supporting something, but indirectly...we're all too much kissing cousins to draw such a hard line. Exactly. One can choose to do as little or as much as they feel the need, For me it's not jumping at any DZ owned by the SkyRide crew, but will jump at DZs that take the certs. I hope they have a great boogie and have tons of fun jumps cuz that means far fewer SkyRide tandems.     Very funny. Next you'll be telling us that you are appalled at how the gap between rich and poor in the USA has been increasing dramatically for the past 30 years. And we won't believe you on that either. For the past 30 years we have been paying the poor to breed. With kids as a cash crop, the population on the lowest tier has blossomed geometrically and unsustainably. This all falls into the law of unintended consequences, the road to hell being paved with good intentions and all that. +1. Saving people from themselves has a very low long term success rate and most times just leads to more and more help needed.
