Indeed. The recession that started in 2007 and collapsed the world economy is STILL Bush's fault. The tax cuts that killed the predicted surplus are still Bush's fault. Failing to put in a short circuit on those tax cuts, as suggested by Greenspan on 1/25/2001, is still Bush's fault. "Reagan proved that deficits don't matter"; V.P. Dick Cheney. Might as well blame Bush for "spending our way out of debt" too as you're own a roll. Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.

If that's the case, give them the water but not the money. Why? they still could not make money unless they get price supports from the government. The two main crops that leach off the taxpayers in California are cotton and rice, not to mention that they consume the most water. There are three main components to a very large portion of central valley agriculture: Water, Government subsidies and cheap undocumented labor. Remove any one of those and it's no longer economically viable. There's a big difference in stopping supporting someone and cutting them off at the knees. They were paying for the water, but now they won't even sell it to them because they think they're not economically viable. "We don't think you'll survive, so we won't even sell the raw goods you need to operate." Talk about a self fulfilling prophecy. But in this case we're talking about the carried-interest loophole which allows hedge fund managers to consider the money that they receive for their services as capital gains instead of income. i get that, sorry if that wasnt clear. i think going forward they will find a way to tax the managers pay as regular income. they just need to do it in a way that they dont crush the entire industry and cause massive layoffs. hthis spring the hedgefunds, for market reasons, are trading less. banks have laid of alot of people, regular people because of this. my point all along has been that it isnt so easy to just raise the taxes on hedgefund managers. you must consider that the current tax code is benefitting many others. regular people. Just how much money do hedge funds bring into the economy? They aren't producing a good and in some cases their short positions mean they make huge money when businesses decline or fail. We need to get past this, "We don't want to destroy an industry/company" that's either been propped up or lived in loopholes. If it's economically viable without gov't assistance or protection, it'll survive. If not, then good riddance. At the same time if an industry/company is no longer viable because it's overregulated than we change the regulations. If cutting the purse strings, we also have to cut the tethers too.

If that's the case, give them the water but not the money. Wasn't it the government that built all that infrastructure...damn socialist works.. and guess what... no money to maintain it or upgrade it now and god forbid they have to pay market value for the water....I do believe the farmers got it all for free so they could get very rich.... for... how long was that Rocket??? 6. Large aircraft (Ferry fees for planes from AZ aren't cheap) 7. Free Load Organizers 8. Last year we got free beer 9. In years where we couldn't land across the runway, we got free shuttle rides back to the main area. 10. The firewood for those fires came from somewhere. I'm sure there are more. -

I'll revise and clarify additionally. (I'm assuming you're heterosexual, interested in human relationships, and not with immediate family members or anyone underage) You have the right to marry any one you love which entitles you to all the benefits only extended to married couples. Why should the gender of the other person matter? Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.

Obama was president in 2005? Wow, who would have thought it. I guess the concepts of federal expenditures in a state and federal revenues from a state are too difficult for you to comprehend. Your tax numbers in the first link are from 2005. http://bigthink.com/ideas/21343 69.1% of Alaska is owned by the federal government. So in addition to the federally funded projects that benefit more than just Alaska, how much of that money that Alaska is "mooching" for itself are going toward the 31.9% it actually owns? Then name one. You're currently batting 0 for 1 (Assuming you're heterosexual) You have the right to marry the one you love which entitles you to all the benefits only extended to married couples. I'm sure they'd go for that if in return the citizens and companies of Alaska no longer had to pay federal income taxes.

On some levels that makes sense but it also needs to be shown. If cutting $x billion from a program leads to $x + y billion loss in tax revenue, then it definitely should not be cut. Also no point in cutting programs that "break even." Start with cutting the negative return items. Additionally certain items could become self funded, such as portions of our military.

By raising taxes are you talking about simplification and elimination of loopholes? Then yes, I agree. However once simplified, we should hold off on changing the base income tax rates until we see what effect was achieved. Taxes are a funny thing as they impact not just what is collected but also encourage or discourage growth as well. Tax too little and while growth flourishes, tax revenue suffers. Tax too much and growth is stifled, tax revenue suffers. Finding that proper balance is going to take time. In the meantime simplification of the tax code and budgets cuts are straightforward.

Mr. President, I'm beginning to smell a big fat commie rat. No easier way to let Obama sail into a second term than to help nominate a Republican who, as I've been hearing from the left for years, isn't presidential and has no chance to win. Do you think Bachman or Romney or any of the others can win the election? If this was really about wanting Obama to win they'd just encourage Ron Paul to run as an independent and split the Republican vote, (AKA Peroting ) Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.

Democrats changing their party membership to Republican to get Ron Paul the party nomination. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robin-koerner/blue-republicans-an-idea-_b_897405.html I think Ron Paul is the only one that could possibly beat Obama, particularly if he gets Bipartisan support. Might even bring some much needed sanity back to the Republican Party and possibly even the Democratic Party. So when couples write their own vows, those are legally enforcable? "Your honor, as you can see in this video she said she'd tell me she loved me every day for the rest of her life. However, 6 months ago, there were 3 separate occasions where she did not. This nullified their marriage and therefore my client is not guilty of infidelity for sleeping with her best friend 2 months later." Dude, every divorce case is based on "common wedding vows". It is a promise. A contract. If the contract hadn't been violated there would be no divorce cases. OH .., one more thing, and this is important.., if you are even toying with the idea of getting married ... Don't Do It!!!!! It's a fools game with no benefit to the male entering the contract. If you are going to get married I hope you find fat women attractive.., because that skinny little rocknroll piece of ass at the altar will turn into a round disgusting fat body long before death do you part. Wedding vows does not make someone legally married, it's that license they get that does that. The only exception I know of to that is common law marriages. Another solution is to treat marriage for what it is, a legal contract, and get a prenup. This way if things change both parties already know what they will get should they disolve the marriage.
