    The first one is funny and satire. It's also not a specific ban. The second is technically discriminatory but it's not like they'd have to enforce it Sort of like if a bacon restaurant decided to ban members of the Taliban. I believe a business should have the right to refuse service to anyone, Most do and will just choose to do so after the fact: customer causing a scene, threats, violence, person too drunk, etc. As stated in the other thread, much prefer government using economic policies to modify behaviors instead of outright bans and requirements.     I think this is close but flawed because I believe every business is receiving government assistance in terms of police and fire protection and well as public access ways like roads. If a business is open to the public, then it should be open to the entirety of it. Are they receiving assistance beyond what a private citizen is entitled to?     Even if it was an erectile dysfunction clinic? I believe the government should not discriminate in any way. Any business that chooses to do business with the government or accept government assistance should be held to the same standard. All others, let the market decide.     Personally I prefer abortion to unwanted children born to unprepared and unfit parent or parents. Adoption is only a good alternative when the parents are taking care of their health at time of conception and the mother does so through the pregnancy.     The complaint is not about what he's doing, it's about how. He's using selective enforcement, not working with Congress to make an actual change. The danger in this is any of these "changes" could theoretically be repealed at anytime, on any group, even retroactively and would be perfectly legal.     This is yet another reason we need to get out of the world police business. Let some other countries and/or corps do it. This way we can all look down our noses at their "human rights violations" publicly and those that choose to look further at what the "human" they violated did or was part of can thank them later.     While unfortunate, his death complications were nothing compared to what he put his victims through. I hope Ohio and other states continue to "test" execution drugs.     Simple. Allow death row inmates to choose to be test subjects for new execution techniques. "If it doesn't work, you're free to go..."

    The problem with this whole line of thinking is that the focus is so great on the intended audience that society as a whole is negatively impacted. It's pretty much #2 behind "zero tolerance" on the Good Intentions Highway to Hell.

    Deterrence. Finality. Justice. Safety of others in society and those in prison. Some animals just need to be put down.     What's your thoughts on letting people get way with crimes? There has to be a balance. I'd rather have people get away with it than people wrongfully convicted. I'm not willing to sit in prison to make the system seem better, it'd be hypocritical to expect someone else to. Let's say you committed an armed robbery and got away with it. Either acquitted or never tried. Then you were wrongly convicted for a robbery you didn't commit. The result is correct, but there was a process flaw.
