Mine is taken by Deuce at the Byron Boogie in 2003. I figured it would get me recognized by other dz.commers when I go to boogies... Iwan

I knew I read it on here somewhere, I guess I just used the wrong terminology. I was after the rapid fire functionality. Does anybody have pictures of how they have actually mounted their flashes on the Flat Top Pro? Thanks, Iwan

Have you purchased a Complete Rig online (dz.com classifieds?)
vdschoor replied to Fireflyer's topic in Gear and Rigging
I sold my rig on here and this is how I did it. The guy contacted me and explained that he wanted the gear, I asked him where he jumped, how many jumps he had all that stuff and if he knew a rigger. The whole transaction went through the rigging company that was on his DZ, I shipped the rigger my rig, the guy sent me a check for half the money and when he decided he was going to keep it he sent me the rest. All that time the rigger held on to it, untill I called him to say that I had received all the money and then he gave the rig to the guy I sold it to. It is a bit of a hassle, but what you gain here is this: You are working with a business, I would assume there is less risk in not getting your money The other part is the guy that buys your stuff is ensured that he is buying quality gear, since the rigger can check it out for him and point out possible issues with the gear. This is just my experience, and it was a very good one for me as a seller. Thanks, Iwan -
ha ha.. it can happen under anything! I started off static line, so I have seen my share of line twists, even a Manta 260 can get some nice ones I know you weren't insulting Sabre2's Angela, that's not why I put that response in..

I had some fun line twists on Saturday under my Sabre2 loaded at 1.4:1 It did take some time to get out of them, but since the canopy was pretty much flying straight I didn't worry about them. The line twists were my fault though, somewhere in between the packjob and my body position. Fixed both of those and the rest of the weekend: nice smooth openings.. I love my Sabre2... Iwan

Hi there, The 16mm will be plenty wide, it will be somewhere between a 24 and 28 on a 35mm camera (in comparison). Personally I wouldn't go with lenses like these, you have to use an adapter to put it on your camera and all that stuff. Why go cheap on your lenses if you already spent 1500 bucks on your camera? The lens is overall more important than the body when it comes to picture quality.. Go for a Sigma or a Canon lens with that camera is what I would recommend.. I have seen some pictures of those lenses on other photo forums, but never skydiving related. The pictures look ok on the web, I don't know how good they are when printed up enlarged or anything. Thanks, Iwan

I jump because it is one of the best things that ever happened to me. How I started? My best friend had a car accident in which he "should have" died (he survived with minor scratches, but everyone that saw the pictures of the car afterwards said he should've been dead) For him this was a wake up call that any day could be your last, and one of the things he wanted to do in life was skydiving, so he asked me if I wanted to join him and I did... The story after that is pretty standard I think, I was hooked and never stopped skydiving! Iwan

Best Screenname and where did it come from???
vdschoor replied to NoShitThereIWas's topic in The Bonfire
The first time I got to pick a logon for my internet service I picked vdschoor@.... it was easy to remember since it is the "short" version for my last name. So that's the reason I picked mine, it was easy to remember that way.. Iwan -
Thanks JP! Mine should be in the mail right now... Now I only need to figure out how to mount it on "the dome" haha Iwan

I find high speed sync to be pretty useless for skydiving, as flash photograpghy at about 1/200th (1/180th or 1/250th for Canon 10D) is suitable. Hmm.. that's funny, from the people I have been talking to this was one of the reasons to get the 550, next to the amount of light it produces. Thanks, Iwan

That breakfast rules, It's pretty much my standard order at McD before I head off to Byron on Saturdays... Iwan

Foreign language speakers, can you translate for me?

Personally I found dropzone.com pretty helpful, they have a section on gear

Sabre2 question born from another post..
vdschoor replied to ifics's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I am jumping the Sabre2 150 (loaded at 1.4) and I absolutely love it. I do have the end cell problem, but pulling the rear risers a bit fixes that problem, and I consider it a non issue. The openings are great! Nice long snivel, and that was what I was after, since I jump with cameras. It was either the Spectre or the Sabre2 for me and since I wanted a little more performance I went with the Sabre2 Thanks, Iwan -
I don't know, I just know that the 550EX is the most powerfull flash available, and if you are filming formations, you don't want light, you want LIGHT! And you want it fast, I don't think the 420EX has the high speed sync, the 550EX does. We will drink some beers when I come out there, but I have no clue when.. ha ha. California is just treating me too well. Iwan
-
Did you notice I didn't ask you to pack for me on Sunday? I am glad you're ok.. Iwan
-
I am going to get the 550EX, I've seen the results from Deuce's 550 and it is very nice. Thanks, Iwan

Sharon, You are right, I use the Sigma on my Digital Rebel though, not on my film camera (at least not yet ) And it does cut off the extreme fisheye effect. Iwan
-
Ok, cool. I think it should work very well. you have the EF lens, and those lenses should all work great on the 10D I have the Sigma 15, I didn't want to chip out an extra 2 / 300 dollars to get the Canon one, and I am really happy with it. Iwan
-
Pancho, Email Martijn van Dam, he's been jumping with the Canon 15 for ages, I don't know if he has the 10D as well, but I would think so. Thanks, Iwan

How about Raid 0+1? One of my friends just configured his pc like that. 4x 120 GB configured as Raid 0+1 You get the speed of Raid 0 and the data protection from Raid 1 I don't know if all cards support this though. Thanks, Iwan
