The fox has not become a protected animal, it can still be hunted. The ban on local hunt will in my opinion be worse for the fox as farmers now will turn to using more "snares" which are legal. Terrible for the animal but legal all the same. The snare has to be checked within 48 hours of setting it, plenty of time for an animal to chew it's leg off Some people are going to lose their jobs and tied houses in area's of high unemployment Other small countryside industries will suffer, like the pheasant or grouse shoot ie: a growth in the fox population will see the reduction of other wild life > My question is - if someone wants these dogs, why kill them? The hunt dog has been reared to hunt so cannot be turned into a pet The upkeep of these dogs is expensive, now with no hunt the dogs have to go remember these dogs had one purpose in life to hunt foxes. The British hunt is a bit of a joke in as much as actually catching foxes, it's more of a social get togeather These people have a good time riding across the country side with the dogs, which by the way normally do not kill the fox it's shot by the hunt master. The fox is clasified as vermin. The dog is a protected animal, Have you ever tried training a fox. I have its a no go.The dogs that are euthanized are euthanized because their owners were not fit to own them. The hunt dogs create employment or created employment. Any way I'm not going to argue with you because at the end of the day the labour party wants votes an the anti blood sports have more votes than the landed gentry so the dogs die. Blair gets his votes his wife can be queen of downing street for another 4 years, an the dogs are dead next year she'll probably have a new coat made out of fox hound hair As for me I'm a ex pat in Spain, now I'm hunting wild boar, unless you object. No I could'nt do that. thats no sporting. It's a bit of a catch 22. Foxes are legitimate prey for the hunter. When I lived in the rural SW of England I rescued more than one fox from a snare I would heal it's leg an let it go, But then while out shooting if I saw a fox it would be fair game an get shot.or I'd miss What I feel is unfair is that all those poor mutts have to die just because a group of people who no nothing about the countryside an have decided it's cruel to hunt foxes with dogs edit: spelling and missed words Gone fishing

Iv'e driven in SA I would say that the least of your problems are people driving an smoking at the same time I think SA should introduce a ban on the drivers that have a depth perception (speed vs distance)problem I imagine 80% of the population would be banned. I agree with not using the window as an ashtray. As a biker I hate it when I'm behind someone who flicks ash an butts out.
