Depends how the (plane) pilot is flying after exit... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Nitpicking, but I live 15 minutes from the airport (MCO), and the only time I drove to Lake Wales it took me about 45 minutes, or less. So it definitely should not take 2 hours from MCO to LW. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Glad to see I'm not the only one you try to kill in a WS, Darren! Seriously, glad you're ok. Scary video. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

DUDE, that cloud surfing video was awesome, too bad I missed out on that. :( The ending was also brilliant... I mean, it really wasn't all that creative I guess, but I've never seen anyone else do an edit like that, and it fooled me - for a second I was confused but then I busted out laughing. A very cool mindfuck to watch the exit that way. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Check this video out, Bryan. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1518064#1518064 Direct link to video (not streaming) here. Those things look damn cool to me but it's yet another expensive toy. I want to get into normal kitesurfing but $$$ is holding me back. The kitewing is newer, more of a fringe thing I think (kitesurfing is gaining popularity) but looks cool in its own way. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Slightly off topic, but where the hell do you see freediving on TV? Hardly anyone I know even knows the meaning of the word "freediving". I explain it to skydivers (and "normal" people ) all the time, and one thing I consider interesting is that people are much more "whuffo" about freediving than they are about parachuting. As much as the general public ridicules skydiving, many people want to try it at least once. But not many people I talk to understand why I want to go underwater and hold my breath for a few minutes, nor do they have any desire to try for themselves. I'm also not sure about the "sheer number who participate". One of the reasons I rarely dive anymore is because I got sick of going alone (not to mention how dangerous some would consider that). www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Is this the same pilot Pete who helped me find my BLACK canopy in Lake Wales last year? If so, hi Pete.

The Jerk and Best in Show were good answers. But Speedracer is the first to get the real answer. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Geez now I feel like a fucking genius. I was always looking for a sort option *after* the search had completed. I never even looked at all the options before you submit the search. Thanks. Although I wish I had noticed this about two years ago. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

It's probably an optical illusion, but it looks like there's a topless girl in DSC00288_2.JPG. I'm guessing it's a guy and something else (his left arm perhaps) is fooling my boob-occupied mind. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Bump? I still think about this one from time to time... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Be sure to include you mother's maiden name and SSN too, before we can be bothered to answer an innocent question. In all seriousness, I don't know much about the area you're asking, but like another poster said, check out the DZ listing on this website. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Uhoh, she's already browsing the wingsuit forum. The addiction starts early sometimes... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I agree with most of what you said Kris (not that I know you made those mistakes, but that they are common mistakes). I am especially guilty of #4. Used to be bad at #3 but now I have no exit hesitation, I'm even known to butt in front of you if you hesitate at the door! However as far as #1, I always see pics/video of you in flocks and can pick you out from far away because of that telltale position. (and the long lanky body and the shiny silver) BUT... I don't know that this is a bad thing. I may know how to fly my own slot, but I'm not an expert at coaching body position. But I always assumed your body position was necessary because of your build. As far as stability, get next to a stable base (like Scott Bland, the world's best base!) and see how stable you are. If you can fly smooth in that position, do it! You could alternately try arching a lot at the hips and even bending your knees a considerable amount. That's what I do to stay with "fat flocks". But I'm not built like you so I don't know for sure if it would work for you... And swallow your pride and drop your grippers, if you have to. (if you haven't already) www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Ok, you talked me into it. You had me at WS. Cya tomorrey. EDIT: And you had me at dude. Cya dudarinos manana. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Just a reminder to everyone, it's Scott Bland's edit, not mine. I just ripped from DVD to DivX. :) Arrgh. Both yesterday and today (Sunday) I slept in super late (like past noon) and the forecast showed rain so I didn't come out (90 minute drive for me). Are you gonna be there tomorrow? I'm still toying with the idea, but I'm also moving next weekend, and I always get paranoid that I'm gonna do something stupid at the DZ and sprain an ankle or something, and not be able to move all my heavy belongings across town. So I might wait a week or two, or I might show up tomorrow, we'll see. :) www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Yup, I watched your edit Omar, it's nice. Here's a link. I especially liked the inclusion of my swoop around 00:32. :) And yes Kris, that shot of you carving away from Perry after the two-plane exit is one of my favs... it's in the video I posted too. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Here is a DivX rip of the DVD Scott Bland created using Scary Perry's footage. It's big (130MB for about 24min) but with Perry's distance from the larger flocks (necessary to get the whole flock in the frame) any smaller file size was not good enough quality. My favorite moments from the video/weekend: 1:23 Perry trying desperately to reach the camera handle on the grey Otter 7:12 Scott flying into Perry at breakoff (Perry had a habit of getting under the formation on his back and burbling everybody! Damn huge V1 wings...) 8:20 A very cool shot of the world's first 2-Otter wingsuit formation exit (to my knowledge). Perry did a great job on this shot. 9:38 Yours truly (blue/white S3) arriving to the formation late (tumbled exit) and hopping over Robert Pecnik's burble to get to my slot (I nearly took him out) And last but not least, Perry's loooong solo at Sebastian (leftover footage Scott found on the camera) makes up the last ~3 minutes of the video. Enjoy! http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=2344 www.WingsuitPhotos.com

The point of yours I was replying to was in regards to the difficulty of a floaty guy staying with a heavier flock, without "wing flappida". I was just saying it's possible, without extra weight. In fact, I challenge any heavier pilot than me to create a situation where I can't stay with him, and smoothly. (excluding extraordinary pilots! ) My point was that I don't think weights are needed. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

In my experience, the wings (arm, at least) flap a lot if you do something to deflate (or distort) them, such as throw your arms way behind you. If you keep your arms level though, but pull them in, the wing stays inflated and simply curves like a canopy. Much smoother flight. I'm a floaty guy (though not as much as Kris!) and would also never consider using weights. I flew with a PF tracking suit (a bigger guy than me) smooth enough to hold a long dock. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Blech, I have never understood why anyone likes Quicktime. Maybe I just suck, but I can't even figure out how to get the viewer to go to a fullscreen mode. And I hate the fact that you even have to download a proprietary viewer just to view one type of movie file. I like things that play in WMP. (shutup, Mac people ) www.WingsuitPhotos.com
