I agree. I think a long bridle is the only mod which makes a difference. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

But will you still drive a mini-van and get us lost and angry? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

How did fate introduce you to the love of your life ?

Hey, are you standing on your toes in that pic? I'm pretty sure you're not that tall... www.WingsuitPhotos.com -
I am fairly certain I'll be attending. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I like Avery Bandenhoop better. Colombian housecats are allowed to spell things wrong. Glad you could make it to Marathon, Jhonathan. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

We were already on thin ice for next year, with the expanding of the airport. Add to that the whole city losing power because of an incident involving power lines. "Next year" is not looking very good, if you ask me. I hope I'm wrong. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I was not backflying in any of them... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

How did fate introduce you to the love of your life ?

It started out as any normal Sunday afternoon. I was flying my wingsuit, minding my own business, when all of a sudden I noticed some extra weight on my back (no honey, I'm not calling you fat!). Her name was Ashley and though it was a fun skydive, I had to ask her to dismount at 5000 ft, so that we could separate and deploy our parachutes safely (skydivers refer to this as "breaking off"). Being a gentleman, I allowed her to deploy her parachute first, and watched to make sure everything came out ok. I promptly gave her a proper wingsuit buzz job and screamed her name as I flew 50 feet in front of her. She smiled and kicked her legs, as I flew away to deploy my own life-saving device. Later, on the ground, I only thought it fitting to take her home. Ok, truthfully she took me home. That was about 9 months ago. Obviously there's more to the story... but it was much more fun to tell it that way. www.WingsuitPhotos.com -
CLICKY FOR PICS It was a blast, as always. Thanks to everybody who showed up, including my housecat Medusa. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Tony and Jeff were in the Keys for several days for the boogie. I'll PM you Tony's email address. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

There should be someone there to play with... no replies because most of us have been in the Keys this weekend.

Also... I will add that I don't think it's a great idea to have your MP3 player on charge at all times. Will wear the battery out a lot faster. Even on the LONGEST of drives, I have enough battery to last me, if I charge the night before. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

You can get a decent stereo for your car for $100 or less, with an AUX input on the front of it. That's what I have. Then all you need is a $3 cable to connect your MP3 player to your stereo. Hint: keep iPod volume maxed out and use car stereo for volume control, otherwise you'll introduce unnecessary noise into the system. FM sounds like crap, btw. And if you really want to get crafty you can save $100 and hardwire an aux port onto the back of your existing stereo somehow... but it wasn't worth the effort to me. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

You know that logic does not hold. I'd say he made more of an observation, than a logical construct. I agree there are many things affecting that observation. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

In case you haven't seen it, notpron, which is said to be an inspiration for this weffriddles site. I spent a lot of time on notpron several months back. Gave up around level 30 IIRC. EDIT: This started off much easier than notpron, I just got from level 1 to level 7 in less than 5 minutes. But now I'm a bit stuck... EDIT: I know the "answer" to 7, but I do not understand how you are supposed to arrive at this.. if anyone knows, please PM. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

To be fair, there are a great deal of articles on the interweb explaining a lot about the basics of photography. I'd imagine a good book would be even better though. I've also learned a lot of cool digital editing tricks from the web too (no, I am not confusing post-processing with real photography, but I do think it is important). www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I would assume that something called "Sports Mode" would be pretty pointless if it did not preset a high shutter speed (considering their intended use of a sports mode). I seem to remember a high shutter speed, high ISO (as you stated) and very large aperture. Which are not really optimal for most skydiving conditions. Normal "sports" shots will differ significantly from most aerial skydiving shots. Our subjects are usually relatively static, and we have a LOT of light available. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Well I got em all, though I'll admit the last few (New England area) I was just guessing, but I still got them in time. And I always said my geographic knowledge sucked! Still, I think I may have had to do more than this to get through the 3rd grade... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Thanks Laszlo, means a lot coming from you, I admire your work a lot.

Yeh, I know how to look at EXIF data... I was just saying I don't remember off the top of my head the exact settings that the "Sport Mode" employs... and was too lazy to go check! (and still am ) www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Yeh, that picture is surreal... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

The first day I had my XT, about 6 months ago, I shot in sports mode. The next week I started using the semi-manual (priority) settings. I'm not claiming to be a pro with my camera, but I will say the images from that first weekend (in sports mode) look 10x worse than anything else I've shot since then. Take more control of your pictures now, just say no to sports mode! There are applications where you'll need a high shutter speed (like this shot which is not nearly as good as I was hoping for, but it's a start), but for most of your shots you won't, and you'll benefit from a lower ISO and higher DOF if you control your aperture. I don't remember exactly what settings the sports mode used, but I'm assuming it was high shutter speed and high ISO. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I will admit that it's an oversimplification to say that more surface area automatically means lower fall rate. In general, it's true. But balance (area distribution) obviously has a lot to do with it. I don't have any experience in a Phantom or Vampire, but looking at them, Fido's statement does not seem unbelievable, or like a joke. There does not look to be a drastic amount of difference in surface area between the two suits, and the Phantom does appear more balanced, i.e. suited for floating. Jeff's suit, however, has a MASSIVE amount of surface area (a drastic increase from Vampire, I'd say) and appears very balanced, so I have no problem believing that it wants to outfloat anything in the sky. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

That doesn't make any sense. Regular mini-DV would require over 20GB for 90 minutes. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

A small problem with that is that someone flying relative to another, is always looking at the other person. From 1:04-1:10 of the Z-Flock 2.5 video (follow link in my sig) there is a short clip of Jeff and Chuck flying Mach 1 and V(1?) respectively... they are in a stack and both looking down. They're flocking though, and Jeff is obviously flying more dirty than Chuck, which is no surprise... I don't think anyone can contest that a suit with a lot of surface area is going to naturally have a slower fallrate. There are more shots in that video of the two suits in formation probably, but none that really focus on those suits alone. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
