DPI is a meaningless term inside a computer. Computers have pixels. Paper has DPI. Also, as others have said, MS Paint sucks, and for more than just editing. Using Paint, open a JPG from the camera, do not edit it at all, but hit CTRL+S to save it. If your eyes and monitor are good enough, you will see the quality literally deteriorate before your eyes. Not true, especially with older encoders (newer encoders can do a better job). An audiophile I am not, but even with my shitty speakers I can discern a difference between 128kbps and 192kbps. I've always used 192k as my minimum. And technically, compressed audio will never be "CD quality". But if you can get it close enough that you can't tell the difference, that's good enough for you. I've heard audiophiles swear that 192k sounds like crap, and if they have the equipment and the ears to tell the difference, then more power to them. If space is your problem, get a bigger player. I truely feel this is horrific, but its not up to me. You know, there are many people who feel the same way about us skydiving. What is so hard for you to accept about two adults choosing to take a risk? If you think it's stupid, don't do it. This is supposedly the land of the free, and I'm glad people still are free to do some things. What I feel is "horrific", is people who promote the idea of removing a freedom, because of how that freedom sits with their emotions. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

What about another theory that people who are pre-disposed to handling situations like this are more likely to become skydivers... or at least good skydivers. It's funny, I do clumsy things all the time that are inexcusable, but when it REALLY matters I almost always stay calm and do it right, even before I skydived (with one notable exception in my mind). What I get the biggest kick out of, is when I'm driving on the cell phone, or some other big no-no, and manage to be the better, more aware driver, averting an accident that the other non-cell-phone-using driver isn't even aware of. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I keep the original DV tapes, and I archive captured AVI to DVD-R. It takes about 3 DVD-R's to fit 1 hour of DV footage, but usually there is at least 10-20 minutes of crap on each DV tape that I don't permanently archive in a captured state. After 1 year of shooting video, and less than 200 camera jumps, I have probably 20 tapes and 40 DVD-R's in my closet, neatly organized and labeled. The organization is mainly for myself, for (1) when I decide to edit a video summarizing "Summer 2006", for example, and (2) when I think of an old jump that I want to see again. If I was doing anything more than the few fun jumps per week that I do, this task would be too big to keep up. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Congrats on the camera Sean. Check out this page - it is an AMAZING resource. This guy has run actual data write speed tests on a multitude of cameras with virtually every major CF card on the market. I linked to the page for XT tests (I'd assume XTi is comparable). What you will see is that the Extreme3 has no real speed gain over the Ultra2, despite the higher capability. I'm not sure for the exact technical reason for this, probably something to do with the limitations of the camera itself. But the bottom line is that you'll be wasting money if you get the Extreme3. Go with the Ultra2... I have a 2GB and it is great. Search pricegrabber.com for a good price... make sure to buy from a seller with positive ratings. I think I got mine from zipzoomfly.com, they are very reliable, I've ordered camera and computer stuff from them a dozen times. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
