Some of those movies were filmed decades ago. Would their original recording source even be able to justify putting them on an HD DVD today? That's like back in the 90's when I'd rip my cassette tapes to 192kbps mp3's. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I use Vegas for all my editing and agree it's a nice piece of software. I've tried other programs like Pinnacle Studio and Adobe Premier, but I think Vegas is the most convenient to work with for simple edits. I figured out what I know (which I'm sure is not even half of what the program can do) by just clicking around and browsing the help file, which is pretty useful. To start off just drag and drop audio and video clips onto the tracks and click and drag the borders to create cuts, fades, and crossfades. Very intuitive. Sorry I can't answer your question with a more comprehensive tutorial, although I'm sure they exist. Also, Vegas 7 is out now and has some minor improvements over 6. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Bill, have you done the Blue Hole? I know you fly WS, and somebody was telling me recently we could fly our WS there and not get wet because we could land on any of the dry spots in the atoll... does this sound possible to you? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Yeah, I hear you. I have no idea who they got those pictures from as they belong to Matt (the111) and he isn't mentioned for photo credit in the header. Ha, I didn't even understand Macca's comment at first because I didn't notice those pictures. The Australian mag ran a couple Z-Flock 2.0 pictures from me earlier this year, and used the same "pinwheel" effect on Perry (I think they even used the same article name "Meet the Flockers"... or maybe that was the UK mag). I got credit back then so I don't mind that they re-use the pics without re-credit. Although maybe they can put a picture of me in there too so I can say I was in the record. The Aussie mag should also be running Z-Flock 2.5 pics soon... sorry for off-topic plug. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I always thought the people in the movies who used "simple" guessable passwords (names, birthdays) did not exist in the real world, which in my mind would make trying to "guess" somebody's password pointless. In reality I guess there really are people that are careless enough to do that. Don't bother trying to guess any of mine, they're all indecipherable strings of numbers and letters (they have meaning to me, or I have mnemonic devices for remembering them, but they'd all appear nonsense to anybody else). www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I am not a rigger, but I fail to understand how any rig design could allow the bag to "fall out" during instability. How could a rig like this be safe for any situation? Even in our earliest AFF student jumps we are drilled on recovering from instability. What am I missing? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Yes, it's true and it sucks. They used to let you in the water if you weren't "near" the manatees... but the manatees come to you and try to play! And then you are told to get out of the water for harassing a manatee. I'm pretty sure they probably don't let you in at all now. There are many other good springs in FL where you wouldn't have this problem, but none as close to DeLand. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Nice flying and photos.

If you've never dove a freshwater spring, you should go to Blue Spring state park, 20 minutes from DeLand in Orange City. I don't SCUBA, but I have been freediving there for 10 years. There is a total depth of 120ft, and it gets overhead past about 60ft. I've never been past 90ft, but even going that far it is equivalent to a much deeper vertical dive, since you have to move horizontally so far (inclined shaft). It gets pretty dark and I freedive with a bright light (I can also wiggle through some TIGHT ~20ft-long traverses you literally couldn't fit through with SCUBA on - but I know that place like the back of my hand). I have been freediving to probably a dozen of the most well-reviewed freshwater springs here in FL (we have literally HUNDREDS) and Blue Springs remains my favorite. In part, probably because it was my first. It gets very crowded some times of year... all the bubble blowers go first thing in the AM. A few summers ago, I had a weekly habit of skydiving in DeLand all day, then driving to Blue Springs at sunset and freediving for the one hour before the park closed, and NOBODY was in the water, it was great. In the past 2 years it's got even more crowded, and in the summer you can never have the place to yourself anymore. If you go with your SCUBA in the morning, expect a couple dozen other divers bumping tanks in the boil, and poor visibility. If I did SCUBA dive I'd imagine I'd go in the afternoon. Lots of swimmers on the surface, but nobody under. Call the park. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Looks nice Jairo. How wide is your top plate? I still have to finish mine. I also noticed the tape on your LCD screen. I like the aesthetics of how Wes does his mounting setup, but that was the first thing I thought of - keeping my LCD closed. Functionally I'd prefer a box. Even though gaffer's tape is pretty damn reliable, for me I don't think that would be enough since (1) I could forget easily, or the tape could get old from being reused and (2) if that door comes open, it's gone and the camera is hosed. Also it would be an inconvenience to always have to remember to tape that... I think I'd rather have a box. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I've personally ordered from Dbuys and Centraldigital... and Abe's and Butterfly are both very reputable by word of mouth and their online reviews. All four of those will save you at least $120 over B&H. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Options exist for under $1000, shipped. PRICEGRABBER Be sure to read reviews of sellers on there. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

The one time I dealt with B&H they took several days to ship. Which all the online places say they may do, but I have ordered from other places like Adorama and Beach Camera and it was usually shipped same day. Also, the time I dealt with B&H, right after I placed my order their website went entirely offline for 5 days, and nobody answered the phone for those 5 days either. I realize this is probably not the norm, but I know they do have weird quirks because of their religious schedule. One of the smaller (but reputable) online dealers will probably make a much bigger effort to keep your business by getting your stuff out fast - I got my 10-22 from Adorama a month ago, paid for 2 day shipping and had it less than 48 hours after clicking order. Pricegrabber.com will list prices from reliable dealers. I had to return something to Adorama too, and it was very hassle-free. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Oooooh, so it's airspeed because you measured it while in the air. Now I get it. /also sarcasm... www.WingsuitPhotos.com -
Hysteresis, or Why sometimes you barely move forward
The111 replied to yuri_base's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Don't you mean groundspeed? Sorry, after your rant it just seemed particularly ironic... www.WingsuitPhotos.com -
I'm not sure exactly what you mean by this (I've never even exited a Cessna in my WS) but in general I disagree with the statement. The hill has MORE of an effect on a wingsuit, IMO. This is why we teach WS students on planes like Otters not to spread wings right away on exit, or they can fly into the tail. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I am not sure of the exact numbers which define a bridle as "long enough." I know my Icon "standard" bridle is at least as long as my Vector "extended" bridle. I just agree in theory with the idea that a wingsuit creates a much larger burble than a human body without one, so a longer bridle sounds logical. The whole rotating bag thing is not that big of an issue in my mind. Even if your bag is rotating 90 degrees or more, that is an entirely different axis than the one it would need to spin on to cause line twists. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
