I don't get it. (Even though I do get it, and was just kidding. ). I remember a friend in 4th grade told me a Mike Hunt joke, and I just pretended to laugh when he had no idea what I was talking about. Anyway, I remembered the joke hoping some day I would understand what it meant....and finally, I've reached that time in my life! The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!

So this guy I know comes up to me a few weeks ago and tells me that him and his brother wanna make a skydive. Great...I set it all up for them, a static line jump, yadayada...today's the big day. So on the car ride to Richmond, they're askin me what they'll be doing, and I tell them that they've got like a 4 hour class to go through before they jump. My friend's brother says "I'm sure that'll be easy common sense stuff", and I said "well, actually you might be surprised at some of the things you'll learn, I'd hardly call it common sense". Yada-yada...they get out of their class this afternoon, and his brother comes up to me and goes "yeah, that was all pretty much common sense". But hey...who am I to argue? Well I get on the Cessna load with them. It's my friend, my friend's brother, their instructor, and I. Well I get out after these two guys I brought to the DZ today, and while I'm under canopy, I notice that one of them (Mr. Common Sense) is WAYYY downwind, on what is a pretty windy day. I chuckle, knowing that he has a radio, and surely someone will talk him down to a safe landing. I land...walk back to the hanger, and someone goes "your little friend rode in a malfunction". "Whhaatttt???" I say. Turns out Mr. Common Sense missed the part in the class where they told him to kick out of line twists. The guy rode in a canopy with line twists, from what I'm told, hit the ground pretty hard, flipped over a couple times, and basically laid there until someone (namely Jason Yasuda (thank you) from what I understand) got to him. Anyway, he's fine, but on the ride home he was tellin me all about how his radio stopped working, and that he thinks they just have bad equipment at the DZ. He also explained to me how a tandem works...apparently the student just jumps out, then the instructor dives out after them and hooks the rig up to them while in freefall...which was news to me. All's well in whuffo-ville, fear not!! At least the dude's alive. Cory PS: Two more jumps to my A!! Woohoo!!! The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!

This happened to a Irish guy (with 75 jumps) that was in Florida a few weeks ago. He initiated a toggle turn at around 1000 feet, the thing twisted up on him, chopped and was under a fully inflated reserve at only 3-4 hundred feet. Pretty scary to watch. Only had an 8 second reserve ride before he landed. I guess the lesson would be not to do any hard turns under 1000 feet. (Unless you're experienced or swooping or whatever of course) -
Nah, it's nothin toooo bad. Just a picture you laughin in freefall. It made me smile.

...bastard! (That's not a personal attack, don't delete this!) I sent the cool dude my rig a few weeks ago, he washed it and inspected it for me and everything. He then told me he'd only charge me $40 (which from what I understand is dirt cheap for a total inspection, and a complete wash...but whatever). So weeks go by, I notice that he hasn't cashed my check, and tonight on AIM he tells me he ripped up the check, and it's a "freebie on him". PEOPLE ARE TOO DAMN NICE IN THIS SPORT!!! I just wanted to take this time to thank Phreezone and jmpnkramer and ladyskydiver and boxingrrl and Jerm and Sally Hathaway and Marcus Lasar and all the other people in this sport who have done wayyy too much for me in this sport to help me get going. I'll tell you this, one thing that I am so excited for above anything else in this sport...it's not getting my license or learning to freefly or being on some big-way or going to Rantoul this year, it's the chance to give it all back. I can't wait till I've got a D license and several hundred jumps, and I can just go out of my way to help out someone just beginning. You people in this sport leave me speechless sometimes. Thank you...all of you. The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
