Started in July and have 92 jumps total. I think that this poll would be cooler if you only polled those who had been jumping since january. It is going to be rather inaccurate to find an approximation of how many jumps one makes in a years time due to all of us who just started this year. Maybe leave out those who took off signifigant time due to injuries as well.? I am not going to vote, tho, cuz i'd have a lot more if I had those other 7 months to work with. Angela.

Thing is, with teachers salaries being low, only those who truly do it for the love of teaching actually teach. . . on the flip side, some might go into it loving to teach, then after a few years of accumulating so much debt due to living beyond their means because basically they have to, they get tired of it and pursue other options, so we lose good teachers. Oh, I just wanted to also add that I went through a couple pairs of goggles and ended up with a cool pair of sunglasses from the gear store in z-hills. They fit me really well, so they are no problem even with my contacts. You should try them on first, tho. I didn't, but I got lucky:) Angela.

I just got an Aviator, barely used, from the classifieds here. I measured my head around, and went on good faith that it'd fit. And, it fits perfectly! I really like this helmet, it is comfy, has two audible pockets, and looks nice in white which is what I wanted... however, I do not think this is for camera flying (unless maybe monkeycam). I was thinking I wanted something for when I eventually get a camera, too... but then, I spoke to some cam flyers on this site who mentioned that they think it's nice to have a helmet for camera, and one that isn't for camera. And, after thinking about it, I agreed. So, i'll cross that bridge when I get there, for now i'm really happy with my ff helmet! :) Good luck. I don't know if they have a gear store in Lake Wales, but you can call and ask if they do, and what they stock in helmets. I think that Lisa (skybytch) in Sebastian has quite a selection of helmets in stock, and it isn't all that much a drive (maybe an hour?) from Lake Wales. Then you could try one on and even fly with it cuz she'll let you demo, too. Just a thought. Good luck. Angela

You'll get landings soon, it takes longer for some than others. Are your instructors giving you feedback? Sometimes watching a landing on video will help, so if you know anyone with a video camera that wouldn't mind videoing your landing, that'd be cool. They probably pull lower and land first anyhow, so they'd already be on the landing zone:) I took a canopy control class at 25 jumps and it was so cool to see my landings, I had been reaching a bit on landing which made them not quite the softest landings. Also, it is a good idea to check yourself on the plane. I thought that b4 you got your A license instructors still did gear checks for you always? Guess not? People move around on planes, and things get caught and stuff. So, I always check my hackey and make sure my pilot is tucked in, and then check my main & reserve pillows b4 exit. I also make sure my main flap is closed, my reserve flap is closed, and my riser covers are tucked. It took me a while to get these habits, but now I always do them. A while back on a jump I made in z-hills, I did not check my handles. I almost exited and was pulled back in by Asaf who showed me that my reserve handle (borrowed gear, metal reserve handle) was almost hanging out. Checks are important. Congrads on your progress. Not that it is a stability on deployment issue, but I saw someone mention it. Anyhow, I was having some instability on deployment for a while and got some advice to fly my pull position for a couple seconds before pulling. It helped a lot. So, now I go belly, then I wave off and reach to pull, but just hold it for a couple seconds nice n stable then pull... well, most of the time I do this, the times I don't the openings are not as nice to me. I've never been slapped by risers, so I don't really know what would cause that, tho. Angela.

I will be flying solo this wknd and want to practice some stuff that I should do alone first.. So, cartwheels sound like fun, how do you do them? I did a couple searches, but couldn't find some simple info on how to perform a cartwheel. Is there anyone who can explain how? My skill level is not that high. I cannot fly headdown at all.I have done about 50 sitfly jumps and am comfortable with turning and fallrate but that's about it. I'd really like to start doing cartwheels. Any help would be great! Hey, chick! Hope you got some sleep:) Those are some awesome goals you've got there. I hadn't really given it much thought, but here goes: 1)keep gpa up, and transfer to a university next year. 2) Get 'c' license and keep on pursuing my goals in skydiving. 3) pay off credit card debt. Yes, it is reasonable to keep people on larger canopies. I didn't see a reason to stay on a 190, and many agreed with me (just not in posts). I had already downsized to a 150 by jump 25, I got those line twists at jump 30, just to clarify exactly when what happened. I am not giving you excuses saying it is ok to land on the runway because bla blah. I am saying, that is likely the reason I did. Not that it was right, but that is what happened. It means, i'm still paying down credit debt from AFF. I don't have any credit left. I can't justify the cost of one of these things when the chances i'll need it are slim. I know they are there, and when I have more $$ I intend to get one. I just don't at this time. I understand your points, please know that I am not arguing here. An aad is a great device. Yes, I, too am a post whore Sometimes I wish they'd put me on an alternating days allowed on schedule so that I would spend more time on schoolwork and stuff. It is really bad. I'm addicted. I love this site and even though half of my posts end up in argument, I still come back. It all started in July, and it is even worse when school is out! I learn a lot here, but I find myself logged in almost 100% of the time i'm at work, when I should be, well, maybe working. Ahhh! Angela.
