catching cold sores from kissing on the DZ
SkydiveNFlorida replied to Tinkerbelle's topic in The Bonfire
I think you may have ocd or something. Just to compare me to you, I never use my clothing to open doors, I frequently kiss people when I say hello (usually on the cheek mind you), and shake hands with others. I do not run to the bathroom evertime I touch something questionable. I do not carry alcohol. I have not been sick in a very long time. I think if you are healthy, you should be able to fend off most things. If I see someone who is obviously sick, I try to keep distance. That is the only precaution I would say I take. I would consider myself more healthy than most people (though that doesn't really say too much:) ) Angela. -
Yeah! Maybe you're right! Angela.

Yeah. I have Freeflying & Freeflying in there. I am actually more interested in swooping, but I dare not put swooping in my profile under disciplines else i'll hear a bunch of shit! lol! I'm also interested in freestyle, but I can't do any freestyle moves, so I didn't feel I could put it in my profile. But, when I think about it. What would newbies put in their profiles? Coached 2-way RW? So, it would seem reasonable to put what you are interested in, even if you aren't there yet. Plus, if putting that in your profile has gathered some fellow birds to fly with once your ready, that's pretty cool! Angela.

Putting a check down while customer is still eating
SkydiveNFlorida replied to Chiquita's topic in The Bonfire
Well, if it's a policy, how can you ask if they want it now or later? If you're required to leave it with them, you just need to find a way to do it politely. There will always people who think you are being rude. At lunch time, at a Ruby Tuesday, I would not mind someone leaving the check with me. As long as they make it clear they are not done waiting on me. Maybe something along the lines of "If there is anything else I can get for you, just let me know (said with a smile)". Or, at least ask if you can get them anything else. Angela -
Maybe Friday night wasn't the best time to get opinions on this You guys are too funny. I wish I were drunk. Damn this work shit! Angela.

Take a sudafed and go jump:D hehe. I've jumped with clogged sinuses & ears, it can be no fun! I suggest taking something that clears your sinuses & ears up before jumping. But, you sound like you're pretty much there, anyhow. :) Angela

In your profile, you name disciplines. A newbie named wingsuit flying as a discipline, because it is what she wants to do. What do you think about filling in this area? Do it only once your involved in a particular discipline? Or, fill it in if that is what you aspire to be involved in? Your thoughts? Angela.

Putting a check down while customer is still eating
SkydiveNFlorida replied to Chiquita's topic in The Bonfire
What kind of restaurant is it? I think it is rude at dinner, but generally people are in a rush at lunch time. Unless it's a real fancy place, I don't see the problem. Angela. -
"Nardi Gras", eh? I've never heard of that... is that Ohio's version of Mardi Gras? Angela.

My school did that to, it was optional for students in the gifted program. I just wasn't bright enough at the time to realize that I should've opted in. In high school, I was just waiting to turn 16 so I could drop out. I'd be interested to see some of the problems if you have a book. There's no substitute for Trig! heheh. Besides, the trig is the fun part. Why take out all the fun? ! Angela.

Number of times you have read a waiver?
SkydiveNFlorida replied to DBCOOPER's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'm genuinly surprised that he didn't advise you not to sign a waiver that basically waives your right to sue if anything should happen to you. Why would he advise you to sign it? Does he feel that the paper is irrelevent, and not legally binding? Angela. (btw, i've read one. I'll sign away my rights if that's what it takes to jump from the plane. That's what i'm there for.) -
How about when you have your own gear and give it to a rigger for a repack. Do you trust them to do it? Of course you do! They went through a lot to get that ticket, and they are not going to screw themselves out of it just to stuff socks in your rig so they can sell your second hand reserve for a small amount of money that is no where near what they paid to get that ticket. There is no reason not to trust the riggers at your dropzone. Do you trust your dropzone? Of course you do, or you wouldn't be flinging yourself from their planes. So, why wouldn't you trust the people your dropzone hires to pack the reserves in their student rigs? Have faith. Those rigger courses are not a walk in the park, so I hear. They are running a business. There is no reason they should have to show you the reserve in the rig you will jump. If you are that uncomfortable, become a rigger, buy your own gear, and pack it yourself... Angela.

Awe, sweety, you are too funny! Of course i'll be out to jump! :D Probably Saturday. I jumped on it when it was initially sprained and hurt like hell. I think I can handle a little muscle pain from a tiny needle. hehe. You're sweet, thanks! Oh, and Rory would make it out with or w/o me, so at least one of us would be there. Annie (since you prefer that), you are too funny! Ever think that you may think too much? j/k I respect that you have given much thought to this, and, honestly, I wish I could answer some of your questions. Here is an article on how Glucosamin & Condroitin work http://www.glucosamine-arthritis.org/glucosamine/how-does-glucosamine-chondroitin-work.html. Hopefully it answers some of your questions:) Angela.

It is for non math/science majors. I have heard it is a lot easier than Calc Analytic Geometry from a friend who took it accidentally thinking it was all he needed, haha! I just got a 'b' on my calc III test The advantages of business calc cannot exceed the advantages of an extrememly easy job with internet access Angela.

I don't think ANYONE no matter WHAT they did deserves this! It is an evil thing that became widespread (first documented case 80s?). This would not have happened if he was doing what he did 60 years ago, does that mean that people back then deserved this? It may be an effect of things he did, but does not mean he deserves it. Yes, we are aware. Yes, we all need to be careful and take precaution. We know that if one does contract the disease it could likely have been prevented. But, does this mean that people who aren't careful deserve to die a horrible death? No, I don't think it does. Hang in there DB. Try to stay healthy and active, and live life to the fullest. You just never know when a cure may be found. Angela.

Hep C is very nasty. My father is seeing it's effects and has been for years. My mother has lived with the disease for longer than i've been alive and it is still inactive. She gave birth to me and I was lucky to not get the disease. She didn't even know she had it. I have a cousin who has the disease as well, early 20s, no effects as of yet. I know that HIV can also remain inactive for a while (not sure of specific time), but I am not sure i'd rather have that than hep c, seeing as how I know people with hep c who don't even have effects yet. Either way. I'm not certain of my opinion here. But, personally, as a tandem student, I'd probably not want to risk it. This may sound ignorant, and it may be ignorant. But, knowing that the TM could slam into the back of my head, break skin, bleed from his mouth on me, and me possibly have to worry about HIV, is just terrible. Although, I suppose that is the chance you take with anyone, really, isn't it. You don't know what anyone has. Some people have this disease and don't even know it. But, since this person knows, maybe he should find an alternate way to make $$, and still just make fun jumps. You shouldn't have to tell the people you jump with that you have HIV, and people should always use precaution when treating injuries of others, so I think that is almost a moot point. Angela.

Ann, I hear ya on the pitfalls. But, I had read that it was a good alternative to surgery due to the fact that scar tissue was not generated. The tissue generated is supposed to be flexible tissue like that of the tendons/ligaments. .. but, of course, you can't believe everything you read, either. I still assume that any scar tissue that would indeed form would be lesser in quantity than that which would form as a result of invasive surgery. If you're in a vegetated state from surgery, i'm sure you can sue if you didn't sign paperwork that waived your rights. If you did sign paperwork, there isn't much you can probably do. What state are we talking here? I thought you were an active jumper, how did this affect your skydiving?? Yeah, this injury is not one which would require surgery. It was just a sprain which, due to my lack of attention to it, has become chronic. Hopefully prolo will help/heal it. The procedure hurt, and the area was very tender yesterday and early today, but it is feeling better today. I'll definitely update as time passes. I've also started taking Glucosamine/condroitin & MSM. :) Take care. Angela
