No not at all. He was cute but far too young anyway... I am very casual with the environment and they were on holiday, so we were socialising with them all weekend. A bit of Golf on Sat - bad weather and late lunches. Bev's South African beer tasting. But we were not alone, we were with a group of people. I have trained lots of cute guys before and turned down lots of dinner and drinks invites while they are all still students. This was different though. He never took no for an answer. It was 8 am on a Thursday morning. She works in an office park with a boomed entrance with security guards. She parked outside her office. They were already waiting for her. We don't have any!! Our most active instructors are 3 blonde women and the fabulous Tonto! Oh wait there is the tall skinny Simba and the technical Mace and maybe Groschie if he is not too busy with tandems... But, yeah, it is easier to palm them off. The thing is when we did get serious about the sequence (when I managed to stop him from checking MY chest strap), he did well and we did a full release on L3. Perfect! They were not physically hurt. She had a gun to her face and one to her stomach while she was being robbed. More trauma at the moment. Her hubby was shot at, not hit, he has a bullet proof car. Her mini was trashed, bled in and all windows shot out. It has been 3 days of councelling and still she can't really talk about it. I think the hard part is still to come to see if there are any repercussions for her husband and his brother for killing the hijackers. It is horrible to see her in such bad shape. She was hijacked for her mini cooper, cell phone, diamond ring and handbag. Her husband saw it happening and chased after the hijackers with his brother and shot them both dead. I have normally been fine when dealing with guys hitting on me, both students and other skydivers. This weekend however, I was thrown a curve ball with a MUCH younger foreign AFF student making serious advances. Hectically so. I managed to maintain for the majority of the weekend and be polite and resist his advances. But eventually the day took it's toll and I did not know how to handle it. I ended up removing myself from alot of the jokes and advances and got the other instructor (Also a young, blonde, female) to brief and debrief him. Like I said, I normally handle guys with a joke, or putting them in their place, but he threw me completely. I know we covered this in the course, but it was so much harder than I thought it would be. Have you had experience like this and what advice can you offer. Display jumps are easily at 1800 if you are lucky. Especially in high air traffic areas and cities. I have jumped onto race tracks and into stadiums from altitudes of 1600 - 1800ft. I think true friendship is under-rated Twitter: @Dreamskygirlsa

Hectic stuff, I can remember it so clearly where I was when I got the call to watch the news on TV. I sat mindless, not sure what it all meant. It is still all over the media, even after 5 years, and yes, even the southern tip of Africa gets affected by this mindless attack on innocent people. Great post!! Please can I add that girls are normally more careful coming into land and a few bad landings will get you to fear the landings. As this happens, you tense up on landing, hold your breath and expect the worst. You need to get over the bad landings, be confident, breathe and flare like Dave said. Just do it!! Being away from home for 6 weeks can be a hectic and lonely time. But luckily I skydive and I have met some amazing people along the way, so here goes. Chazzy and Pears for being amazing on my Red Sea/Egypt leg. They are truly my favorite couple. Spain and my girls team were amazing. Fed us weary travelers and did some awesome skydives all week. Chicks surely rule. Germany was great, meeting up with old friends from around the world and meeting new friends. The Kiwi’s kept their flag flying high as would be expected. Your pimped tent was so welcoming. (Damn, I did not get to finish that article in the Playboy). Thanks for the beers, I will surely return the favour 10 fold when you visit SA. Hitting the Czech Republic and meeting JP was the best thing that happened that day. Thanks for introducing me to your friends, your adopted country and getting us to Austria safely (boarder post bribery excluded). The Pink crew are truly amazing. They fed us, got us jumping and showed us a bit of the land. Thank you all so much. From manifest to pilots and restaurant crew. WOW!! Your Pink Skyvan was Fantastic! Special thanks to Paul for showing me the in’s and outs of RDS and Kaz for all your Velo advice. See you in Aussieland next year. Arriving in Austria was an experience with all the skydivers being so welcoming and friendly. Seeing the pond for the first time in the park in the middle of Vienna was an experience. All the skydivers were keen to get the show on the road and the sportsmanship was an inspiration to watch. To JC, Shannon, Ian and Jonathan for sharing wicked footage, beers and partying with us. You guys are awesome. Hope to do that again. Soon. Special shout out to the Aussie contingent, who were constantly laughing, partying and having a ball.
