I am not sure of all the technicalities, but the student would need to cut away from a student hangup or streamer. The rigs are all equipped with RSL's. If the student had an AAD, this would get caught up in a half inflated canopy right? They would need to be trained on the reserve drills properly. They are taught to pull right - cutaway on both those circumstances. The RSL would deploy the reserve - They are told about this, but told not to rely on this and to follow through with the Pull Left. FULL RESERVE DRILLS Are AAD's mandatory in other countries? And of course, the Mamba is a slang I got your slang right here, buddy. It's just a small, harmless slang. Yea right it is harmless! It is like a mamba that just jumps out at you and all the girls get a fright?? Since you are all learning Afrikaans, next time you are trying to pick up a girl say. "Wil jy my slang sien?" Sure fire way to get a chick!! I think true friendship is under-rated Twitter: @Dreamskygirlsa

:8:Lots I did my first AFF level as an instructor. I jumped my first Cross braced sub hundred canopy (93) and did a really cool landing. 8 Jumps was awesome on Sat, really cool landings. No jumps on Sunday - Rained out. Bought beer for the AFF inst on the DZ. Cheap round. I think true friendship is under-rated Twitter: @Dreamskygirlsa

African Free Fall Convention.

Hey, I think there is disappointment all around with regards to the aircraft, but there was a lot of good and positive that happened. Since this is my year of positive things I will contribute the following: I got to see all my fantastic skydiving friends again from all over the country. I got to jump with some fantastic skydivers and build weird 3D Hybrids with people I normally don't have the chance to jump with. I got to skydive with Steve from the UK, who was a great addition to our hybrids. I got to jump with some of my Freefly friends on (Wait for it!!!) Some big way flat fly formations!! I got to do some awesome wingsuit jumps and learnt not to loop on the exit of the Dac or the Kingair on exit (Thanks John), and got to the formation to beable to fly with my friends on a 14 way wingsuit flock! I managed to crack the nod onto Dave Morris' big ways and do some big girls stuff as well! Had some good landings on my canopy and a really cool redemption landing that looked as fantastic as it felt. All round, I had a cool time and learnt a whole lot about people, friends, chilling, anger management, patience and underpacking! (Yes, I did not have enough warm stuff for a place that is normally hot, but that was rainy and cold on most days) Oh and I got a little bit of a tan on my lilly white body! All in all, when the weather was playing game and the 3 planes that were there were all flying, I had a cool time with my friends: Old and new. Looking forward to seeing everyone again! Here is to a rocking 2006! Wicked skydives and safe landings....... I think true friendship is under-rated Twitter: @Dreamskygirlsa -

ARE CYPRES AND AAD'S COMPULSORY
Beverly replied to clintonradloff's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hey bud, First off, please don't type in caps, it is aggressive. Secondly, an AAD is an additional safety device that was developed to reduce the deaths in the sport that occurred due to people becoming unconscious or being knocked out or losing altitude awareness. It was never developed to replace the skydiver opening his own parachute. The AAD fires the reserve parachute. If you are thinking that it is there to replace the pull, you are very misinformed. It is purely an additional safety device and should NEVER be taken for granted. It is also a mechanical device that could fail. We teach students to be competent skydivers and to beable to deploy their main parachute each skydive at the correct altitude. The reserve is there for emergencies, when there is something majorly wrong with the main parachute. If you are jumping or thinking about jumping, please speak to an instructor at your dropzone. No, an AAD is not there to replace the pull and it tries to stop the SPLAT but only in extreme cases. Some countries have made it a mandatory requirement. In SA, we only have to place them in all Student Freefall gear. Most skydivers put them in their rigs though. Please PM if you have any further questions or queries on this. BTW, Cypres is a brand of AAD. There are other brands in the market as well. I think true friendship is under-rated Twitter: @Dreamskygirlsa -

Every person has their own place where they can sit, be quiet and breathe. To connect with themselves and not worry about all the outside stuff. For some it is the desert, the ocean, the mountains. Some people can go to that place through meditation. I am not very good at it yet, but I am trying hard to connect with my soul and leave everything else behind. It is awesome that you can do that in the desert (or you were an arabian prince in a past life). Re-connect with your soul! Take it home.

Oh, but surely these stupid earthlings have just not discovered your absolute genius and they will come around in, oh, maybe a few hundred years. But surely you will not have to hang around these stupid people for long, there are lots of places you can go hibernate so that you don't have to be subjected to all the planets stupidity. I know a place. It is quite hot though, you may need to take some sunblock. You may find some of your kin there. Highly intelligent men that cannot really relate to the real world. I will send you directions. Take a pitchfork. I think true friendship is under-rated Twitter: @Dreamskygirlsa

ouch, sorry about that. I would go there when he is not there and get your stuff, then there is no chance of it getting ugly. Take you stuff and go. No need for salt in his bed, hair remover in his shampoo or small chunks of small raw fresh fish in his couch covers. Move on, the wheen turns. It may be a big wheel and take a while or a small wheel and happen fast. Either way it turns. I have seen it often. I think true friendship is under-rated Twitter: @Dreamskygirlsa

Instructors dating students???????
Beverly replied to MrJones's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Could you post a thread or link or let us (The rest of the world) know what happened. I am very anti JM's and Instr dating new people on the DZ. We have seen them shagging a different chick every night of the weekend. You are seen as a bitch if you try warn the girls, they are getting attention and they think the guys are hero's. It would be nice to know how many DZ's have the "No dating rule" how it works and what are the repercussions on the guys breaching this. By the time the student is A licence, they then know who is the shark and who is really interested in them as a person and not a one night shag. Depends. Does he have super abs? If I can play with his, he can play with mine? Will he light my fire and then put it out? Will he let me play with his hose? Will he allow me to ride down his pole? I think true friendship is under-rated Twitter: @Dreamskygirlsa
