  1. Well done! Wow a 13 way on your 100th, not many people can say that! I think true friendship is under-rated Twitter: @Dreamskygirlsa
  2. Thank you thank you thank you. I have decided to get the truck. Btw, it is a double cab, 2 x4, Ranger 2.5l tdi with canopy, bull bars, tow bars front loader CD player, Air con. So I have covered the gear getting dusty, wet issue and the passenger issue. Plus I can blast my favourite music on the long haul to the DZ. Will post pic when I get it later this week! 3. 11:7 Well it looks like sunny South Africa wins. Did 11 jumps on Sat and 7 on Sunday including my 1000th jump!!! I think true friendship is under-rated Twitter: @Dreamskygirlsa
  4. Ah, good to see skydivers are the same world round. I will let you know when a guy is keen to pay me a visit on the bonnet of my truck. I am not very big, so at least there is no fear of denting the damn thing! I think true friendship is under-rated Twitter: @Dreamskygirlsa
  5. Quick Question, I am looking into buying a bakkie, truck, pickup, and am concerned that: a) People will think I am butch b) Guys will think it belongs to my boyfriend c) Guys will be turned off more by the threat of a chick in a pickup (Even more so than a girl that skydives) Help!! I am not sure what to think, I really want the car, especially to carry all my DZ luggage around. I think true friendship is under-rated Twitter: @Dreamskygirlsa
  6. Well I live and Jump In Johannesburg and have been to Empuria last year. Spain has a fantastic DZ and the parties are apparently fabulous. The DZ is very gobal, so you get a full mix of people from all over. If you are keen on SA, you can travel the country jumping, there are fab DZ's in Durban and JHB as well. CT has a stunning view, but cessna operations, make the skydiving slow and there are not many people to jump with. If you are keen to do SA then try for summer, and get some touring in, we have some of the best beaches in the world, awesome mountains and yes gorgeous girls. Go to www.jsc.co.za or www.para.co.za for more info on DZ's and my home base Johannesburg Skydiving Club. Good luck making a decision!! I think true friendship is under-rated Twitter: @Dreamskygirlsa
  7. mmm, you have a few options here. Firstly stop shagging her - eeuu! Secondly, say you have developed a rash and blame the other 6 girls on the DZ including the canteen staff. Set her up on a blind date with another guy and do a foursome with you with some hottie who adores you. Tell her it is not the jeans that make her ass look fat. Stop taking her calls Definately start dating someone else quick!! Don't tell her you love her, she will cling, tell her you are Gay, she will try convert you, tell her you are getting married, a wedding ring is like a huge turn on to some chicks. Or you can get nasty and get her arrested for some arb thing - A woman will do anything for love...... If all else fails, just tell her you are damaged goods and need to recover mentally and physically from the trauma you endured as a child. 8. Very funny and all that talk of being a skank! I don't have any pics of me in my WS... Only in various stages of jumpsuits and in freefall, sorry. Can always see the Feb FHM for the World meet pic Or website www.angelfire.co.za/ I think true friendship is under-rated Twitter: @Dreamskygirlsa
  9. WRT the competition element, I am quite happy with the distance and freefall elements, and this can be easlity measured with a neptune on each competitor which can be quite accurate. In terms of the freestyle, there would need to be a level of leeway, as the freeflying disciplines have been quite staid in SaA due to the lack of specifics that people need to follow. They are not very creative in coming up with their own moves and the traditionally military judges, have no clue how to judge. I am not particularly keen on strapping hot smoke to my leg though! If WS's become more of a spectator sport, there will be display jumps for Africa and the fun element will be taken out of it completely. But maybe there will be more $. Will need to brainstorm this a bit more..... I think true friendship is under-rated Twitter: @Dreamskygirlsa

  12. Damn, skirts, skydiver chicks don't wear them very often. Thanks for posting my in door flight attempt t. Taya was calling me skank and that I need to learn to keep my legs closed!! Note to self: Keep my female BMI instructor, she can relate. Anyway, managed to hold onto the bar and get back in the plane to have a cool exit with the two boys. At least I provide some entertainment in the plane! Looking forward to more....... I think true friendship is under-rated Twitter: @Dreamskygirlsa
  13. Well I must say that havign T & t on the same DZ is truely explosive. Thanks for all the advice, it is great to get a smile when I come zooming to tell you I had a perfect opening and still working to cracking the under 60mph barrier! Did my first real relative work dive this weekend and it worked!! (Me at 55kg and the 2 guys at about 85 and 95 respectively) Looking forward to jumping with the pro's though!! Yay!! 14. Shoe! it is cool to see that the SA boys are the same wherever they go. All you talk about is chicks and beer!! Anyway, I have been to a couple of the DZ's in Florida and they are all great. There are lots of SA people at Deland, so you will never be without Afr conversation. Be careful of the people that can understand Afrikaans, the Belgium boys were being porno when we were in Empuria and I could understand them!! Serves them right. Anyway, hope you don't miss home too much and let us know if we can send a shipment of marie Biscuits, Nando's sauce, Mrs Balls, condensed milk and that case of castle you so deeply desire. You will have to fight Solly, Chromey, Graham and Gary to see who get's what though! Vas byt! Cheers Bev I think true friendship is under-rated Twitter: @Dreamskygirlsa

  17. There has been some good discussion, the main points coming out is that old gear is not great to learn from, and this is what students get lumped with. Wendy had some good comments too! Just a note on the girly thing, not all girls are princesses, but there is a degree of caution. So go have a fab time under different canopies and see what suites you. Here is to safe landings and no more injuries! Cheers from Sunny SA! I think true friendship is under-rated Twitter: @Dreamskygirlsa
  18. Hey Sarah, There are a lot of differences between guys and girls with landing canopies. Chat to a female instructor or more experienced jumper on the landings. I was also put onto an old technology canopy at 45 jumps and was ready to quit, as everyone told me it was me and not the canopy, until I bought a new Hornet and Voila, the canopy can land. Girls are more careful and reserved under canopy, and now that you have a thing about landing, you probably dread the landings and tense up before impact. Have a look to see if you can find a canopy that better suites your wing loading (1.0), take a deep breath and concentrate on the landing as the second part of the skydive. Get some confidence in yourself that you can do this. Don't worry about what you look like to every one else, just concentrate non you. It will come right and you will love it. Just don't quit. Good luck. Cheers Bev I think true friendship is under-rated Twitter: @Dreamskygirlsa
  19. SA was very honoured to have two of the most awesome coaches with us at the SA National Champs held last week. Thanks to Solly Williams and Mike Swanson for all the updates, tips and techniques. You guys were amazing!! See you in Croatia. I think true friendship is under-rated Twitter: @Dreamskygirlsa

    Icon Sport

I received my new I4 Icon Harness and got it rigged up to jump this weekend. The harness is extremly comfortable and the padding in the legstraps are a pleasure. The packing is neat and the harness is easy to close. It looks great too.
  21. Eish! In the 10-15k mark. From SA, so a trip to the states is included. Over R80 000 (That's Rands) Owch. That was over 300 jumps, new Bev Suit. This year is new gear and going large for nationals and world meet. Should rack up about another R80 000 this year ($12k). The dollar figure does not look that bad relative to the Rand spent. 22. Thanks everyone for your input, it has been extremly valuable. It will form the basis of a code of conduct for all our training staff from now on. Just a few comments. The sitting on the TM lap was not in the plane or while kitting up, it was general and with Inst staff. Once you are in the plane, you are definitely one and the same. Gum / mints are a great idea. We don't sue in SA, we just don't go back...... Thanks again. I think true friendship is under-rated Twitter: @Dreamskygirlsa
  23. HI Ian, I am definately not sugegsting a no contact DZ. We are tought in the JM course that to ease a students nerves, a hand on the shoulder is advised, hold a girls hand etc. What I am asking about is the Instructor making crude comments while tightening/loosening a chest strap on a Double D student and making them embarassed. I am probably the first to offer an sexual innuendo in response to a comment or remark, but we need to make sure that we take the students who can't handle the comments into consideration. As a chick JM, I check male students, and comments like making sure their pack is out of leg strap reach may be made. We are just looking for guidelines..... I think true friendship is under-rated Twitter: @Dreamskygirlsa
  24. As part of the training staff on our DZ, we have become very aware of the Instructors and JM's acting in a way that would not be tolerated in normal work conditions. As our DZ is getting busier and we are starting to get more clients/customers, we are looking to lay down some guidelines in terms of conduct at the DZ for training staff. Things like the male JM's not touching a female students chest strap inappropriately, or making them sit on their lap, smoking while briefing a student and smelling like beer from the night before. I am looking for suggestions from girls on things that they would have liked to avoid and make the experience more pleasant for the students to be on the DZ and get proper attention. I am not sure you can do much about the JM's dating the students but there are definitely other aspects we can advise on. What is your opinion? 25. Skydiving clubs and the community have a reputation fo being closed and hard nuts to crack. JSC is a club with a friendly atmosphere no matter who you are, what your experience level or where you come from. Come experience our world!
