Great to hear that everything is on track. Just a question, the cost of the suit is set at R8 000. My GTI cost R6 000 brand new less than a year ago. What is the thought process behind such a difference in the pricing model. Surely there should be some incentive to try the new guy on the block. I am not sure that introductory offers are supposed to be more than what you can currently get that is tried and tested. I for one am looking forward to flying one. Good luck on your new project. A bit late on this one, but regulation in SA require at least 50% of the formation to have visual alti's for 8 or less people and 25% of 8 or more. For camera, it is mandatory. I use my alti for students, and under canopy. I always have my audible and i am getting a neptune for more accurate measurements for landings. My one issue, is where are you after/just before a cutaway if you don't have a visual alti, and there is the chance of the audible going flat.... I suppose it is what makes you comfortable. If you check it, ensure you lock it with Tie Downs. They can then squeeze them open without breaking your zips or locks. Don't pack any weights or lead things in the bag, place these in your normal luggage checked as well. Well what do you do in a situation where beer is the tradition. We had a first jumper initiation and the whole thing is about beer and drinking as much as you can and the balance going down your pants. One guy brought a Coke, and the Inst was horrified. He gave him a choice - Beer or naked run to the student landing pit. He chose the beer and I had the privilage of pouring 99% of it down his pants. He just pretended to drink some of the foam. Afterwards, I got thinking, what if he was in AA, or recovering from an alcohol thing or lost a family member or friend to drinking and driving. He was the designated driver to all his friends. Our DZ is also an hour drive from home. I later found out he was a Doctor (Chiropractor) and has probably seen more damage than good from drinking and driving. I felt quite bad. Hey, it is not that bad. I manage to get my mom to the DZ once a year and she sees that I can land better than most people. She also worried lots in the beginning, and I also stopped getting the monday morning calls. On a Friday, if she called, I knew not to tell her I was jumping. I also reminded her that I had more injuries doing Gymnastics as a child, than I have had doing Skydiving as an adult. She was bullied into doing a tandem last month, and she hated it, but is secretly proud of herself, and does take some credit. I suppose it all boils down to education. Never say it is a safe sport. You can die, so they need to know the dangers, but they can also know the stats and realise that it is less dangerous than other activities (Drinking and driving) She was also really proud when I got my national colours and they all support lots when we are doing fundraising for teams etc. She even came to say goodbye at the airport when we left for the World meet last year. Pretty awesome. Just tell them how much you love it, and they should be happy that you are happy. Skydiving is not for everyone, so you may just seal your fate if you get them to jump as well..... I am one practical girl who has to make decisions on other people's behalf all day, so to me, romance is: Telling me we are off to the movies, tickets booked, choice of movie made and restaurant selected for dinner. Ordering my fav McDonalds meal on the way home and surprising me. Offering me the chicken wing Running a hot bubble bath and just soaking in it chatting. Giving me a massage Bringing me hot chocolate in bed on a cold day DVD's, creme soda cold drink and ghost pops to eat on veg on the couch day Feeding me sushi when I am sick Ok, mainly things that involve food, but I am a sucker for someone who stimulates my mind, which in turn Returning my phone calls Test messaging me - not anything specific, just a reminder that I am on his mind. e-mails - Songs, poems, "just to say hi" List is really endless, but it is the small things that count. Being a bit jealous when other people are talking to me, Seeing him look at me across the room and smile Him remembering something personal I have told him and sharing a private moment in a room full of people.
