Let's just see. The last three major fatalities from my little tiny town this year. Last week a guy in a Camero just had to pass on a two lane Highway. Killed all four men in the oncoming truck. Last year a guy on that same highway coming in to the Delta took a turn too fast and lost control of the boat he was towing, and took out a Mother of 5. This winter a guy fell asleep at the wheel and went head on into a Semi. Thats the stats for the tiny town of Byron over a years span. Every mother, you know what that tailgates me and passes me on that same two lane highway just to get ONE CAR LENGTH AHEAD seems to be male. I'm just trying to get my daughter to day care. With the exception of the occasional soccor mom who forgot her Prozac that morning! Sore subject. Maybe I just live in a "Dukes of Hazard" kind of town. Maybe I have more miles under my belt than the average female, but I think men are more life threatening behind the wheel of a car. Dude, I know fraps are all the rage in Europe. I would rather jump with a speedo on than a frap hat. (despite the fact that virtually everyone on the planet wished the reverse) I think that you are dissillusioned. Fraps are not all the rage in Europe. It's just that the Herc Boogie is the "Old Man's Boogie". The Swedish Friflaj Festival boasted hundreds of jumpers from all over Europe and there was not a frap hat to be found. Hmmm. I must be old school and stuck in the 90s. Back then we didn't charge for coach jumps. There are different levels of coaching. Someone with 200 jumps can take up a new jumper who is trying to perfect their turns. Starting and stopping on a dime. Someone who wants to practice docking. Someone who wants to work on their track. These are all skills that a lower experience jumper/coach can watch and critique. I think that is what the newbie coaches are for. On some drop zones it's pretty hard to find an very experienced coach to go up with when you have 15 jumps and you are still working on the basics. These new coaches fill that niche. In the process they gain the experience of teaching that will keep their skydiving skills developing as well. Just my opinion. Worth what you paid for it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! I don't want to hijack this thread anymore than it has been, but this fact scares the crap out of me. I waited till I had nearly 400 jumps to go through the coach course, and I still think I was doing it prematurely. Someone with 100 jumps should not be allowed to coach... in my opinion. I got my AFF rating with 385 jumps. Before that I had done several coach jumps leading up to my rating. If a jumper has coaching in mind from the begining of their skydiving career, they may be dedicating those first 200 jumps to perfecting those skills. Keep in mind with 200 jumps, you are coaching the basics. But still. Coaching. It's not for everyone. Does your canopy need encouragement to get the end cells inflated on opening? Another factor could be the type of brake turn. Did you have half brakes and then let up on one side, or continue down on one side. If you answer is the later, then it is easy to induce line twists.
