I'ld rather jump a 206 than a 182. But then ours had a passenger door, as opposed to a cargo door that is further back. Those suck. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Who has the fastest delivery time on a container?
GravityGirl replied to BlindBrick's topic in Gear and Rigging
See. Told you the manufacturers in this industry are awesome. Hey. Every skydiver is a good customer. Big, small, short, tall.... we like 'em all. p.s. If you come to the West Coast, myself and a few of my Freefly Friends would love to jump with you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! -
I agree with Freeflybella. Your body will eventually try to sort it's way out. Don't think about it too much, and let your body flow as liquid as possible. Don't fight the wind. (You'll loose anyway.) You should see my crooked body headdown. I have even had someone stare at me and try to striaghten me out. She just couldn't believe that my body could look so crooked and fall straight down. Learning to freefly is challenging for everyone. You'll work it out. Just keep huckin' yourself out of a plane with a good attitude and you'll master anything you set your heart on. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Who has the fastest delivery time on a container?

Thank you riggerrob, you have explained it better than I did. When I said custom container, I was implying that the harness would be fit to your body. Perhaps the Student rigs you have jumped are not "Freefly Friendly" because they are well used. The examples I have given you would all be good modern sport rigs. I have outfitted a couple of 250+ guys this year. The manufacturers were both great and the customers got their gear for the same price as anyone else out there. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! -
Buying first rig- how fast do I downsize to jump it?
GravityGirl replied to MWGemini's topic in Safety and Training
If you can't find a good match on the used market, consider buying a new container with used components. The most cost effective solutions in your case would be Wings or Icon. There are other options. These two would just be my top pict for budget, and custom fit. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! -
Get your Big Wings out there (legs), and try to relax your upper body. Kinda start by hanging off your legs, then finesse your unique body from there. If you can jump with a coach, they can help asess your body position. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Buying first rig- how fast do I downsize to jump it?
GravityGirl replied to MWGemini's topic in Safety and Training
And my #1 piece of advise to the same question asked of me every week: Don't buy what you plan to jump in the future! Buy what you want to fly now. PERIOD. Otherwise, you may never make it to your future plans. As Lisa (Skybytch) said, and I'll reinforce. Any rig with and average size harness that fits a 190 or 170 main is easy as hell to sell. So buy it used, put 100 jumps on it, and sell it for very close to what you bought it for, take that money and buy the next size down, and so on and so on. You can't sit here and analyze and project your next 200 jumps. There is more to it than math and matching numbers. There are too many variables. You are a unique human being, the only way to tell where you are going to be and what you are ready for within the next 100 jumps, is to get there. The path varies from person to person. The best advise that I can give you after dealing with gear on a daily basis for quite some time: Start with the 190. It will be easy as hell to sell when you want the next size. If you get a rig built for a 150 and cram something bigger in it. It will be uncomfortable. Hard to pack. Piss off your rigger. Wear on the container. Need I ramble on? That's it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! -
IMO it is impossible to do after the fact. Silkcreening is a poor method of choice as the ink has to be "Heat Set" for it to take. NOT A GOOD IDEA. Any other options will just flake off. As always: Contact the manufacturer for confirmation. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

unfortunately the Icon doesn't come in my size(269 main, 288 reserve). As a business major I know you go where the money is, it's just really fustrating that with the current trend to tell people to take their time and fly conservative wingloadings, that the gear doens't support it. -Blind I would have to disagree with you. A couple of years ago I had NO demand for such big rigs. Guys pushing 250 were just far and few between. Now it seems to me that big boys are poping up left and right. The demand is up. And since all skydiving rigs are pretty much "Custom" anyway, all the manufacturers that I have dealt with have bent over backward to fit ANY customer. Ex: Aerodyne has a Solo 270 main, and I believe a student rig to fit it into. They will customize it for your needs. Mirage makes a a student rig in your size that can also be customized for your body. Wings makes a bigger rig as well. All of these manufactures will build an awesome high-end rig for you. So. Lead time is your priority? It is gonna be a tough week to get your lead time pushed through. When all the Floridians get back to their offices, I suspect they will have some "clean up" and "Catch up" to do. PM me if you want some suggestions. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Skydiver X - Which scenario is he more likely to survive uninjured?
GravityGirl replied to Duckwater's topic in The Bonfire
Tandem. Being an unexperienced swooper, he MOST likely turn too high and have an uncomfortable, yet uneventful landing. He knows his emergency proceedures. Being an unexperienced Tandem Master, with unrefined canopy control skills, he is gonna cream in that tandem an himself. What with landing a 160 lb meat sack that moves. Also, in the event of a malfunction things would be grim. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! -
Also, there is very little practical training with pulling your handles in a "Real Time" situation. Even if your RSL catches, complete your proceedures to help get that ingrained. There may come a day when the RSL fails and you are low. Any practice is good practice. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Your pirate name is: Calico Anne Flint Often indecisive, you can't even choose a favorite color. You're apt to follow wherever the wind blows you, just like Calico Jack Rackham, your namesake. Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you're easily chipped, and sparky. Arr! WTF!?!? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
