  3. Trust yourself. Flare smoothly. If you are nervous and jammin on the toggles, it gives you little margin for error. If you are relaxed an easy into your flare (when you are dialing in a new canopy), then you have time and presense of mind to speed up the flare if you are too low, or slow down your flare if you are too high. Do not confuse this with milking the toggles! That will just kill your flare. You should come in full flight. Take a nice deep breath on final. When you feel you are at the proper flare point, go ahead an smoothly initiate your flare. Keep you eye on your runway up ahead. Have fun. The Pilot has a great flare. Couple that with smooth movements on your part, and you have a winning combination! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

  5. It's weird. When I know I'm getting a return I have my taxes done by Jan 20th. When I know I'm gonna owe, I get them done by April 15th at about 11:55pm. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  6. I used to like long hair on guys... ... in the 80s. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  7. Bingo! Have a plan and an out then entire flight back. Constantly reevaluate: "Hmmm. I think I can make it back, but if I don't, that big field below me looks good." "Well clearly I have ample altitude plus some to clear that field. There's another one up there that would suit me fine, if I don't make the landing area." All the while you are assessing your penetration into the wind and hazards that may not have been visible a few hundred feet ago. I like to fly with Plan A, B and C in mind. Sometimes that is not a choice, so I'll hover and circle an "out" like a hawk. That's ONLY if there are no good options anywhere else and you see your one opportunity and don't want to loose it. Like being over an urban area and finding a football field. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  8. Is the wind 0 or 25? Is it at your face or your back? Is it as strong down below as it is up top? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  9. Woah. There a several women in this community who are great mothers that chose to jump during their pregnancy. By the way, it's not supposed to come out at 8 months. Anyway. I doubt the story is true. In most cases labor last a lot longer than that! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  10. Tension knot was my first cutaway too. On my PD190. It was my impression that a tension knot was a knot that was induced by worn and twisted lines. They end up curling up like a telephone cord that's been spun up too much. This looks more like the excess got looped around and cause a knot. (As opposed to a tension knot. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  11. You need to work on your English skills, and your listening skills. I listened to his 21-minute speech and heard no such promise. Speech Transcript He did say something to the effect that, some day in the future, maybe the whole world will live in freedom. Do you disagree with that hope? So how's your Norweigian there John? His English is great. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  12. WHAT!!!?!?!!? He told me it was going to be tonight! Or is this when you are leaving? Shit. Sorry I missed it Geno! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

  19. For just a moment, let's all sit back, relax, take a cleansing breath. There. Now let's just all realize that we are all test pilots in a sense. To quote(ish) the great Bill Booth, "There are no perfect airplanes, there are no perfect parachutes, there are no perfect rigs, there are no perfect skydivers, there are no perfect riggers. No matter how close to perfection we get in the sport. Perfection will never be attained. I would like to take a moment to appreciate all the manufacturers, riggers, instructors and skydivers that have made it their lifes work to keep striving for perfection in an effort to keep all of their customers and friends safe and educated. Sometimes bold moves invoke great criticism. It is the brave sole that sets aside their reputation to ensure the safety of our community. I am honored to be associated with such people. I stand behind anyone in this sport who continues to pursue perfection at any cost. I would like to encourage others to work as a team rather than stand around isolated pointing fingers. That's not really productive for anyone. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  20. Derik, Did you read the SB and the response from Airtec? This is a response to possible rigging errors in the field. Mirage is not the only rig that this type of error can effect. They are just the first to issue a service bulletin. Just like they were the first in the Capewell fiasco. They should be applauded. It appears to me that they care more about keeping their customers safe than their reputation. I am impressed with Mirages bold move/s in their ongoing march towards excellence! This potential failure can happen with MOST enclosed pop top rigs. Now sit back and watch as others follow Mirages lead. And to the person who posted this thread. How much does a reserve pack where you are from? Here in Cali it's $60.00. The SB compliance is due on your next pack job. So unless you were planning on pencil packing, you are not out any money. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  21. Who should pay, and who will pay are two separate questions. I can only speak for myself. Each case is different. In this case I am looking at each customer and their location. Mirage will cover what they can, and I'll pick up some slack where I can. If, however, the customer received a heavy discount on their original order, then they will pick up some of the cost. If my customer does not have the money to cover some incidental costs, then I will offer terms of paymnet. This ensures that the work will be done and finances should not be an issue. I think the benefit of going through a dealer is an added level of customer service. Now I have to get back to my call list and sort this thing out! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  22. I can't help but think that if I was really doing EVERYTHING I could to protect the environment, I would be a BASE Jumper and not a skydiver. We burn a lot of fuel for our simple pleasure. But! I do make an effort in other areas to compensate for that! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  23. As a dealer, I fully appreciate the efforts that Mirage Systems has made in an effort to maintain high standards in our sport. They were the first ones out with the Capwell SB. And they are the first ones out with this SB. It is my understanding that this bulletin was issued as a result of mis-rigging in the field. If the possiblitiy exsists of a rigger making an error, then Mirage has found a better way to prevent any incident. It takes courage to make a bold and aggressive move like Mirage has done. It could damage their reputation and bottom line. But their concern here is serve and protect their customers! GOOD JOB MIRAGE! This from a statement by Airtec: We appreciate the action Mirage is taking with this PSB because it eliminates possible side effects from a lot of field rigging errors which no manufacturer can prevent. We encourage other manufacturers of containers with internal pilotchutes to evaluate this cutter location and take similar action as is appropriate. Our testing work and cooperation with rig manufacturers concerning CYPRES installations will continue in the future as in the past 15 years. Airtec GmbH IMHO $60 is a small price to pay for continued progression in our sport. For youself and for the future of out sport. I have set up assistance for my customers to help offset the immidiate cost of getting the mods done. Perhaps your dealer/s have done the same. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  24. What am I missing here? I don't think that doing a 270 on a Sabre2 210 is a good idea at your jump numbers. I think for sure he should dial it in. But a 270 IS NOT a criteria for downsizing. What is your exit weight? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  25. THEN what happens to our POWs?!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
