It has a main and a cypres and no reserve? If it has a good reserve, this is a fair price. You can always check the source. This is a small community. Ask the seller which rigger has been maintaining his gear, then give him/her a shout and ask for any heads up on repairs or maintenance that might need to be performed. Also make sure you check the size of the main lift web and yoke to see if the fit is in your range of acceptability. Measure from the hole in your throat to the top of your hip bone. Then your chest and waist. PM me if you need help with that. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

I beg to differ. I wouldn't call it stupidity. From a 190 to a 150, it's not the landing you should worry about. It's the decision time. As you go through the learning curve, you will be introduced to various senarios. You will have to make decisions on the fly. The larger canopy will allow you a few more seconds to make a decision, plan an out, etc. The more experience you gain, the quicker your decision making ability... So perhaps it was lack of experience and lack of decision time that led to your poor decision. That should not be confused with stupidity. But I don't know the facts. Maybe you are just stupid. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Does keeping your reserve handles increase risk?
GravityGirl replied to tdog's topic in Safety and Training
I've both held on to 'em and chucked 'em. On my last one, I kept them, but my freebag decided to introduce itself to my leg. I let go of 'em pretty quick. I dirt dive throwing them. But some of my malfunctions were pretty low key, so I held on to them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! -
New Skydiver-obsessed and wanting to get certified

That's because you are from New Zealand, and Kiwis are hard core! For us tender footed Americans 3 a day will usually do it! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! -
There are lots of used rigs on the market. Buy what you need and want. Don't buy the first thing that comes along or try to make what is offered magically transform into what you need / want. 170 is a VERY popular size. You should be able to find something. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

I have some customers come into my store once or twice a year from Asia looking for used gear to bring home to sell. If you know of anyone traveling to the States, you can send them with a "wish list". Personally, I have shipped to Europe and Australia, but not Asia as of yet. PM me if you have any specific gear questions. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

How about a nice cup of shut the fuck up? Oh. Sorry. Did I really type that. It sure was lonely out here this weekend with everyone down in Hollister. I actually went to the mall. But I'm sure everyone missed me. Right? Anyways. I'm going to Eloy this weekend. Nee-ner, nee-ner, nee-ner.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Why not. Mick is a Nor Cal Skydiver. Lots of Nor Cal jumpers are clubbers. And I trust Mick not to spam. I think he has good judgement about where "the line" is. How do you see it otherwise? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Try NCS, the Nor Cal Skydivers List. PM me for details. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

High Speed, Total Malfunction
GravityGirl replied to filioque's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You more resolute or he better packer? I can honestly say, I have never cut away from my own pack job! Tow major differences are that he has always started with new gear (almost every season). I bought my first "GREAT BEGINNER RIG!" quite used. I went through a "getto gear" phase. More recently. He will work on line twist longer than I am comfortable with! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! -

Both my husband and I have well over 2000 jumps. I have 8 reserve rides. He has 0. We are both real skydivers. Sounds like you have a lot of gear issues for 130 jumps. What are you jumping? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! -
Stronger and Bigger might be what the Smart is offering. The measuring technique may be different for the two canopies you are looking at. We have a good track record with the Smart Reserve so far. They are making a strong impression on the international market. So the perceived value on the Smart will be higher, making it better for resale. I'll put my Mom on a Smart Reserve any day. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
