    I pretty much have that opinion, and I earned my first two million long ago. Tax rates for the rich are historically low. You can't get blood from a turnip, and you can't get substantial taxes from a family of four making $50k per year.

    When I was selling a canopy, I called the buyer's DZO to verify that they were qualified, and shipped the canopy to the (well known) DZO so that they could inspect it. Once they checked it out, the buyer sent me a check. I wasn't totally happy with this, and would have preferred to deal in person. However, I was willing to trust a DZO whose name I knew and who has a good reputation. I would understand if another seller did not want to do that.

    DAN is tied in with promoting the SCUBA industry (not as bad as PADI, but still...), so they will recommend pushing it, since that is what sells more SCUBA vacations. MUCH worse to be skydiving, at 13k, than riding in a commercial pressurized aircraft (unless it depressurizes).

    He knew the rules; he should have known better. If others, working at different places, don't have that rule, they are free to make contributions. Personally, I think that they should have the rule, but they don't have to follow one they don't have.

    Why do you think that? Probably because you have no idea what services ACORN provided to lower income people. Housing, mortgage and credit advice, neighborhood violence, minimum wage (FL ballot issue that resulted in over 1 million people getting $1/hr raise plus future indexing), free tax return preparation for low-income people, screeening for state and federal benefit programs, raising funds for Katrina relief. ACORN got a lot of negative press for voter fraud, but there were actually zero cases of fraudulent voting. What was true was that some of their workers were fucking cheats and were turning in fake registrations, because it was easier to fake them than do their work of canvassing door to door. The famous "pimp" video turned out to be heavily edited, such that the Massachusetts AG found no criminal action -- he did find that ACORN management oversight was lax.
