This is good news, but there are still 14 days for an appeal. Once again I am amazed at the /. - fark - dropzone overlap -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

Yeah, the show correlation...but from a statistician's standpoint that is dangerous and tempting solution to assume. Many of the so called 'statistics' in the world today show correlation without any proof that is an exclusive correlation. You may also be able to show a correlation in income levels, prison populations, etc or even if you wanted to prove a point maybe the number of beers consumed or the pounds of bacon sold. Does a correlation in and of itself proof anything? NO, not at all. The prudent statistician has to isolate variable and try to show an exclusive correlation. Unfortunately, many times they don't, which is why there are 3 types of lies: black, white and statistics. Unfortunately this contributes to a lot of the stories on the radio that read: "In a recent study scientists have shown that people with more ..... have a smaller ..... " Well yeehaw are the two related? They might not really be sure. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

Finally someone gets it. Criminals dont respect the law. Control will not affect them unless by gun control you mean a strict crackdown on currently illegal guns, which is not how it is usually used. And even if that happen, criminals desire to break the law, they will find a way. One of the largest mass murders in the US was committed with $1 worth of gasoline http://vikingphoenix.com/news/stn/1999/stn99005.htm Concealed carry is a deterent; a defense for the law-abiding citizens, it levels the playing field. And you are right....it is a very extensive process to get one. So you wanna target someone target the crooked merchant who sells guns without regard to the legal requirements. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

That is exactly right...you wonder, because you have no idea. And neither do I because I am at work being paid to do other things. But a better question to be asked would be how many were should with legally carried guns, and how many were shot with illegal guns? Or how many crimes were averted by legally carried guns. My dad always said that locks keep the honest people out. Most gangs really dont care about gun-control, only law-abiding citizens do. Why not put more effort into enforcing the things that are already illegal. Incidentally, I did a presentation in college in a humanities class on the concealed carry law. My mentor was less than supportive of the law and was completely surprised at how little evidence we found to point to any negative effects. Although that was 3-4 years ago, I doubt much has changed. At the time, the simple truth was that concealed carry had done nothing but good for Texas, as atested to by government officials, highway patrolmen, and surveys alike. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

Well having traveled with Dave and Glock or without Dave and his Glock, I can tell you where I feel safer. No worries, we live in Texas, and everyone here has a gun remember. Of course then again, our crime rates have dropped, and there have been almost no problems with concealed carry since it was instated years ago. But I would rather debate it elsewhere, since this forum is in general 'opinion' based. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

I never thought I would be making positive remarks about cereal land (you know fruits, flakes, and nuts?) Actually I have relatives in N. Cal. Odd thing...I recently had my distributor replaced, and ever since, anytime I cross 2800 rpm, my radar detector goes nuts on Laser. No idea why, but my detector is pretty much useless now. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

I have heard you guys have awesome cops, mainly due to legal restrictions, speed 'trap' locations all have to have studies done for months to verify they provide correct results, and CHIPS cannot clock while moving. But I have also been told that unmarked cars will sneek up on you in traffic. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

Actually, I did some research on selling (the word donating cracked me up) when I started jumping. It was not worth it and I would assume the same here, and probably for a reason noone has mentioned yet. Although in the female case this is very painful I am told, the reason I mention is legal liability. For sperm donation, there are a lot of stipulations about if/when your sperm can be used. If it is used, you are without income for x months, until the allow it again. But worse, ou have to sign away certain rights, including that the offspring has the right to visitation. That made it way to freaky to me! -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

Not sure in your state, in Texas, get a lawyer! Here you can get a firm to take your ticket for less than $50. They haggle back and forth with the city, with which they have much better ties with than you, and then return a settlement to you. Often times, this gets the ticket dropped. The first time I did this, I had to, because it was too high to take defensive driving of probation to keep it off my record (91 in a 60). Since then I will probalby do it every time, unless it is a minor ticket and I am within the time limits for defensive driving. For $50 it is worth it to spend their time and not yours, plus at the least you get 3-6 months for them to respond before you have to pay. I am not gonna get into the debate about the roads, because it is a complicated issue, and I dont our discussion makes any difference to city planners. But I will say that I drive 42 miles one-way to work every day (ft. worth to dallas) and at some points, they drive sucks! But in the morning I usually break 100mph on on stretch. Until I get a job in Ft. Worth when/if the IT market recovers. That is the price I pay to make money and still live where I want (an closer to the dz). -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

The one I was originally talking about the first fly-by they did, on the 28th, the first day they had the dc-3 working. But I would settle for any of the fly-bys. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

Nice reply. If anyone makes a form letter I would be glad to show support. I would even write, but very honestly I dont have the time. Not to make this debate broader, but this does not sursprise me at all. The lack of security is because of people getting paid $5.25 and being hired with the requirements as Burger King (this is an opinion, I dont actually know the requirements to work at an airport) People are assholes, and apathetic ones at that. I am a hobbyist photographer and I assure you we go through the same thing. The FAA has explicitedly decreed that you do not have to submit your film to Xrays, you can request a manual inspection. Before Sept 11. most things below 800 were fine, but since then they have turned the sensitivity way up, and most film companies recommend you do not pass it through xray. Yet every time, EVERY single time that I have gone through security this year I have been told "It is fine, it will not damage it." On my trip from Eloy I was even told that if I did not let them pass it through, they would have to open it and expose the film! I have now gotten in the habit of carrying print outs of all the regulartory documents concerning this. And yes I realize that is the problem here, we dont have a document here to print out. Honestly, I am a little troubled by the USPA's response earlier...."well it is not as simple as giving the part number" Okay....but could you give it to us anyway? Personally, the USPA is on my bad side anyway; I got more correspondence from the AOPA during the 911 hoopla than the USPA; their annoying "What have you done for me lately" ads, which they appear not realize the irony of; the fact that parachutist sucks, take a look at www.skydivemag.com from the UK, they do knowledge tutorials every month like Parashutist almost never does. If it were not for the right to jump at USPA group DZs, I could care less for the USPA right. Sorry....tangent there. But, the bottom line is that I dont see them resolving the problem for you. I think you deserve at the very least another set of tickets. If this issue is fixed it will be from the joint pressure of all of us, not the USPA, in my opinion

18K for a crotch rocket? doubful, that sounds like Harley prices to me. I can say from very regular repetition that pulling up to the dz with Harley exhaust purring is a nice nice feeling. Something jsut seems right about walking from a harley to a plane to jump.

Thanks, I will be making the stop! I heard he lowered them to $10 to compete with Eloy (source said they had a bit of a fued). Either way $13 to jump from Mullin's, $13 to jump at Skydvie AZ, YES! Jump them all. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.
