Experience. Articulation. The ability to understand a students speed (learning ability and to understand aerodynamics, balance, control, etc.) Must be able to display a belief in the students ability to perform. Early on, motivation and confidence has a lot to do with progress imo.

The only uncool thing about that is they should have told you this before you started learning to jump there. My home DZ was like this too. After 80 jumps, I was full-out forced to go to a bigger DZ. Dropped that place like it was a bad habit. Been flying my ass off ever since.

Everyone perceives skydiving differently. The denominator is that we all go through a lot of stuff to stay alive after leaving a plane, become canopy pilots, good flyers, stay safe, some make a second life out of it, get pictures and video, enter competition...........and some have the commonality of making skydiving a profession. But what is skydiving to you? Reason I say it is, I have always thought of it as a sport - a base for competition, challenge, constant learning, and to have the chance to represent the dynamics of body flight. Come to realize after some time, well at least it seems to me that it can't be a sport.... Not saying that it isn't, or can't be perceived that way, just that it can't be. It has got to be a hobbie. ?? It may be because jumping is, more-over, a very cash business...I just don't know. Seems to me that everyone is in it to make ends meet...and everyone else seems to be around to play. There are so many ways to look at it. Am I off, or what?...so what is skydiving to you?

I haven't been around as long as you guys but it has been this way since I can remember. Skydiving is more a hobbie then a sport - imho. The difference between a sport and a hobbie is that, with a hobbie, you have to pay into the industry to get anything out of it.

True. It is a kickass time. Dude, you are swooping at Wildwood. On the beach. There are video games everywhere. Waves. Babes half dressed (or half naked) - I'm just a half full kinda person. Rides. Seafood. Cotton Candy. Friends. What the hell else could a skydiver ask for but is an event coupled with lots of crowd and stuff. Ever setup for a downwind over a ferris wheel before and land on beach sand?...it's the bomb.
