  1. Other psychological tests only wish they could be this exhaustive.
  2. You might be interested to know that the chicken never really crossed the road either.
  3. hey cool I'm moving to LA in a month or so... *gets out map of fault lines provided by relocation company* This will make picking an apartment more of a fun game.
  4. I don't know about it "coming naturally", but then I'm not sure what you mean by that. I'm an engineer, pretty much the only way to do remotely well on tests/quizes/labs in my classes is to work the problem sets that are assigned. What "comes naturally" to me is doing stuff that's assigned. If I'm not learning anything from lectures and can complete the assignments by reading the book or course notes, I won't go to lecture. But I can honestly say that throughout my academic career, I have never failed to turn in an assignment. Now that's not to say there haven't been some assignments I've done ghastly on, but god damnit, I handed something in. If not being able to fathom an attitude that would allow you to just not do work that was assigned means my grades come naturally then hell, this must be a cakewalk for me.
  5. so what did you have as a reserve? a PDR? for some reason I would find jumping a round main and a square reserve kinda funny.
  6. you mean something like this? http://media.chaz720.net/ferrari.mpeg
  7. "Robert told her to go to the game, and I said, Sure just to get out of the house you know sometimes is good for ya." I thought it was hilarious.
  8. Ah, the epic battle rages on!
  9. I came home from an internship in Florida and said, "hey want to see what I got myself for my birthday this summer?" and showed them my rig. They really didn't mind as much as I thought they would.
  10. Some of the CS professors here certainly get on my nerves, but a few I've had have offered some great insight. While it's true that at big schools you're going to get more academia-oriented professors, we are also lucky to have pretty wide reaching job fairs where CompEs, EEs, CompSs, MechEs, and GenEs can all parade around for a couple hundred companies and usually find a job if their grades are pretty decent.

Building a Database-Driven Web Site Using PHP and MySQL SQL has many other applications besides just storing content for websites, but that's the context I learned it in. I already knew my way around php pretty well, but there's some tips on getting started there too if you're interested.
  12. hey wait a second, are you trying to suggest that belly flyers are a bunch of yodelers? just kidding, nice job on the video.
  13. It all depends on how many oranges you've got.
  14. I think an ambulance or a fire truck (with its lights on for bonus points) would be pretty bad. Also, mail trucks are generally a hazard to be avoided (federally owned, also with flashing lights on them) My roommate has also rear-ended (and totalled) a parked car and we still give him plenty of shit for that despite being over 5 years ago now.
  15. actually it looks like this... ...oh wait it was a joke, I see.
  16. I was thinking about this too when I came back here after a week or so and noticed the more verbose listings to the left. Jump numbers, license, and wingloading. What more do you need to judge someone? I dunno, I think they already look kinda crowded. If it were -me- I'd ditch the last log-on and what post number in the thread this is and see how it looked first. I'm thinking about getting rid of my avatar so I don't take up an acre of screen to say two sentences.
  17. this is why I am a fan of "boring" mostly black rigs with maybe colored tape, piping, a "mirage g3" logo on the side of it, etc. that's all one other color. it will make it that much easier for people to buy a rig that fits them and not having to worry about looking cool in it. if you end up with a jumpsuit that doesn't fit and a rig that's no good for you, you'll be the coolest guy who can't stay with an RW formation and always walks around the dropzone like a prison inmate who's gotten a little too much attention.
  18. Wow, "no" with an exclamation mark and everything... I didn't know there was enough information given about the situation to warrant an exclamation mark. I agree with billvon, you don't see too many people shoveling coal into the boilers of steamships anymore. If everyone went through college and got their degrees we'd be capable of an awful lot more as a society than we are now. In the grand scheme of things, unskilled labor is just a temporary solution to a problem that hasn't been solved from an engineering standpoint. People that have no desire or drive to move themselves above the unskilled labor market should get their unions to rough up engineers for stealing their jobs. /edited: I never could spell all that well...
  19. "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity." -Hanlon's Razor
  20. I agree. I think it's strange that many people claim to seek truth in their life through religion. The way I see it, once you believe (or disbelieve) something that can't be prooven, whether there is any truth to it or not is no longer relevant.
  21. maybe the wind will actually be reasonable this weekend don't forget to parade around in your new FI t-shirt tracy, you did read the fine print when you bought it right? /edited to add: tomas, I finally get your obsession with getting Marg, Marc and us together for your "Ex-Presidents" jump... that stupid movie was on tv yesterday... ...awful...
  22. it really depends on the situation. I've never had anyone pack a rig I've owned for me (not the main anyway) I was in socal for a few days in january and went to perris. I rented a rig and rented the packjobs to go with it. It was nice to spend a day jumping without packing, but eh... I still pack my own.
  23. The internet is a very different creature from television. The amount of advertising content that would have to be placed on a topical website like dropzone.com just to break even would probably be leathal to most lab animals. A combination of donations and advertising keeps many great sites afloat (penny-arcade.com comes to mind) and having both be benign you can get some of your money back without detracting from the site's content. a forum payment/membership model employed by somethingawful.com might be of some interest. you can lurk and read most of the forums without an account, but you must register an account to read all the forums and be able to post, which costs $10 once. There is a set of rules (which essentially enumerates, "don't be a shithead") if you violate the rules, you lose your account. you're free to make a new account, but it costs you $10.
  24. non-believer is a non-sensical word.
  25. god I'm boring, thanks for bringing out the pain... /edited: also, stupendous-fun-internet-image-tip!!! jpeg = "continuous" photographic images or anything with lots of color gradiants png-8 (or gif I suppose) = simple graphics particularly those with sharp lines to them, and screenshots (which also have sharp lines, text, etc) bmp, tiff, png-24 = I hate the people who are trying to view my image, and wish them undue pain
