  1. The fact of the matter is, as the head of this kinda club, you're going to be dealing with a lot of newbies. I've gotten very used to it, and I usually try to think, "hey at least they're excited about jumping, even if this is the eleventy billionith time I've answered these questions." It beats people that only know skydiving through "You Gotta See This!" and wouldn't have it any other way. The one thing that does get me down about the position is that it always involves taking passengers in my car, and that makes it hard for me to stay out late with the people at the dropzone
  2. hmm... must be some kinda lock... well... I know what to do with locks... chop-chop-chop! *snip* *WHACK* ah my nose! sonuva- hey bob gimme a hand, and bring another roll of that inspection tape
  3. Saturday from 3800' It was cloudy most of the day, but a beautiful hole in the clouds opened up right over the airport. Had an excellent 3-week-old packjob opening.
  4. I had a protec for a while, now I have an aviator. I tried on the mindwarp and the hurricane as well but the aviator fit better. It's comfortable, quiet, and has nice audible ports. Very good customer service from my experience as well. I think with any helmet you're best off trying some different ones on. They're not all going to fit everyone, so you just have to find the brand that seems to work with your head the best.
  5. my friend put the image together, I think he inverted it cause he wanted to print it for something (and save ink) here's the natural colors... can you tell how many glowsticks I'm holding?
  6. fun with some glowsticks and burst mode on a camera
  7. Hey gotta shoot for the sky, right? However, the "Software Geek" story seems to check out with the VS.NET box as the background of those photos
  8. First off I voted no. Sueing over the spot because you femured yourself on an out landing is idiotic. The point I think several people are trying to make is that everyone has a line in the sand. Sure, most of us draw it well beyond something as benign as a hosed spot or bad pack job, but it is somewhere.
  9. Depends really. But mine was sent in on... (looks at logbook) the 15th of December and I don't have it back yet. I contacted SSK about a month ago and they say it had been sent to Airtec. It's actually pretty frustrating when you consider that the lifespan of the product is fixed at 12yr+3mo. This one service is getting up on 2% of the total life of the product. I've made a handful of jumps since it's been in (winter in the midwest) but it doesn't really bother me not having it.
  10. sock, sock, sock, shoe, shoe, shoe, people freak me out.
  11. Illinois beating Wisconsin tonight
  12. I think there's some kinda rule somewhere that 7-cell canopies have to be symmetrical

    Time Cube

only Hawking is actually a genious. this guy is an idiot. I don't know if it's been reposted here, but I remember seeing that site back when it came out in 97. It's actually got quite a bit more "content" now.

    Math problem

If they will let you go into a remedial math course that would probably be good because the pace might be more comfortable. also, USF does has a math lab program and if it's anything like it is here, your particular math class will also most likely have a TA or two who will hold office hours during the week. Whenever I had classes where the math really sucked I just made a habit of going to the office hours to do my homework and that way if sometihng didn't make sense I could just ask.

    USA vs Canada

well I think the obvious solution is we need to build a canal through the middle of canada.
  17. I don't understand the appeal of check cards when there are so many credit cards with rewards programs and no annual fee. Not to mention the fraud liability issues... I'm also putting in another vote for tabloids. How could you possibly want to read sensationalized news about people you don't know, particularly when it's not even real news Also, I completely don't understand anything that could allow, aid, or assist you to watch DVDs while on a camping trip...
  18. I'd rather be smart and poor, cause then you'd have somewhere to go. Being dumb and rich is like being in a coma.
  19. I had no trouble downloading the file directly. Being set up as a particular file type only helps the browser figure out what to do with it. You can always right-click->save as the media file itself and be sure to save it as a .wmv (as opposed to a .wmv.html) Also, are you sure it's New Found Glory and not Me First and the Gimme Gimmes?
  20. bring it on. I consider myself a connoisseur of late model nerf firearms. these have great range and are easily concealable for bringing into meetings...
  21. pop music, those frilly "malt beverages", daytime TV
  22. here's the commercial that was played. I don't know about the other people but I recognize the wingsuit guy as Dave Barlia from his snowboard BASE jumps on the Good Stuff DVD...
  23. nice story. but it needs a little more... instead of a note that says "Happy Valentine's Day Bitch" it should have been "A revolver with one bullet in it and a note that read 'do yourself a favor.' " now that's depressing!
