dont most insurance policies become voided if the accident involves an activity listed by the insurance policy, like skydiving. i always see that question on the application "do you skydive?" or does this only affect the policy rate? i've been told that if you can, tell the doctors that your accident did not happen at the DZ...if you can get up and move off the DZ anyway. i'll check back later, gotta go to work. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

i really like that place, but have one issue. no grass to land on. i know i know, its the desert, i live nearby. its just hard to see my canopy hit the dirt everytime landing there...so, sorry, we usually jump at elsinore. we actaully live right in between the two DZs. and i like the drive to cal city better. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

turned 21 while working at a ski resort driving snowcats...holy crap, the mountain manager buys me 21 shots of tequila...no kidding. made it through 14...then, all of a sudden it is the next morning...i wake up on a kitchen floor, my face stuck to the floor with puke. 3 days later, i recover...never, ever, ever again. yeah, i know, i could have (felt like i should have) died. and everyone says jumping is dangerous. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

Wow. The whole point of the USPA is that skydiving is a mostly self-governed sport and we want it to stay that way. The FAA has only a handful of rules regarding skydiving, and we want it to stay that way. so do i. i WANT it to stay self goverened. that is exactley the point, every one has a right to self govern thier own jumping practices. if someone wants to pull low, then, by our own disire for self government, it is 100% thier choice. and, by that standard, do we have the right to bash them and tell them they are wrong. it is a fine line here. know what i mean? i guess what i am trying to say, is that it is 100% your own opinion if this was a right or wrong jump, and that there are no "rules" broken. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

so thats what i mean, the USPA seems to be only a "suggestive" governing entity. dont get me wrong, i like the USPA, and follow the guidelines. so, even though we all think this is wrong, besides running the risk of landing on someones house, can we really accuse him of doing anything wrong...i mean, if there are no real rules that mean anything and no real recourse. yes, i do think this was wrong. at least, wrong to post the video. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

this is my opinion, not a specific response. so i agree that this is dangerous. but, what will anyone, the USPA specifically, do? do they have any right to yank a membership, which would possibly deny him from jumping at USPA DZs? part of the reason i admire base jumpers is becuase they are goverened by only one entity, themselves. i admire the "barn storming" attitude. but what about the USPA, what about the so called rules...what happens if people dont follow them...is there any recourse? just curious. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

i totally agree. you make her life possible. the first time, and i mean the first time my brother disrespected my mother, he got the boot out the door. take her down to some rough side of town, and show here where she will end up if her current behavior continues. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

But what if you really didn't want to work for the rest of your life? $300K isn't enough to live on forever. This really is hypothetical. 3 years ago 300k would get you 3 houses where i live now, today they get $1000/month. so, you would have 3000 a months to play with. but, now, those same houses go for 300K, and rent for 1500/month. so, invest now if you dont want to work for the rest of your life. hell, my old man makes 18K a month for sitting on his ass off of a 268k apartment house investment in 1974. so, dont travel, party, or spoil yourself now with you own money, invest and let someone else pay for all of that and more in the future. just my 2 cents. (which will be worth 5 cents next week) ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

well, funny you ask. we actually do have 300K. a few mortages though too, rental property. anyway, we worked on location for years, invested in real estate and got to this point. sooooo....quit the jobs, and built our first house out of pocket, $250k to build, should fetch about 75K return after realitor, taxes, and fees. not bad for 6 months of coordination...so, planning to do it again, and again, and again...until rentals paid off. then.....nothing, absolutely nothing....well maybe a skydive or something. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
