  1. There was a tandem student at our dropzone last summer who's reaction to a cutaway was "Wow, that was awesome, can we do it again?" -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  2. Dude at our dz lost his helmet in freefall and found it later with a borrowed protrack laying beside it smashed to pieces. They replaced it. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  3. I would say your pro-track is more accurate because 209 mph is real fucking fast for someon with 39 jumps! Then again so is 180 mph, and I have a Vigil so I hope they are accurate... shit.. I don't know. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson

  5. Well, in a nutshell thats what it is. There are varying levels of hemophilia. Serious hemophiliacs have spontaneous bleeds and must "top up" their missing factor level daily in order to not bleed out or cause serious injury to joints/muscles/organs.. etc. I on the other hand am relatively mild. To the point where normal bumps bruises scrapes and cuts aren't a major problem. If get a serious injury, or a bleed into a joint, muscle, head, or near my spine it can be much more serious than most people. I can take Factor IX (the factor that I am missing) to top up my levels should something like this happen, but I have to face the fact that it may not be soon enough. Of course my doctors will tell me that it is more serious than I like to admit and they are very much against me skydiving. Just like they were very much against me playing hockey when I was a kid. I made the decision to not let my disability (and I use that term loosely, because I know there are many that overcome so much more) run my life. I do what I want to do (I also snowboard) and should something happen, well I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. The biggest difference for me as a skydiver is that I have to accept the fact that things that may just be eye openers for most jumpers, for example a broken ankle may turn into something a lot more serious.. serious tissue damage caused by intensive bleeding could cause me to lose the use of my ankle. Or a busted femur that some people may get away with, I might not get away with. Life is short, but the great thing about life is that it is not measured in length it is measured in width.. so I chose to broaden my horizons to the fullest extent that I can, and experience all that I can in the short time that I may be here. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  6. White top, white bottom and coloured insides look cool with X-braced canopies. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  7. I was taught the one hand on each handle method, I guess I have to visualize the one hand for both handles method. All kidding aside, I have touched my cutaway handle with my left hand and my reserve with my right in freefall before just to get a feel. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  8. Thats what I'm talking about... moreso to up the wingloading though. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  9. Not to mention that whether you are left handed or right handed... the hand that you have caught in a horseshoe will most likely be one of the two hands you will need to perform proper EP's for a horeshoe malfunction. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  10. Any other Hemophiliac skydivers out there? -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  11. Neptune as visual, Skytronic FX as audible. Would also like another Neptune in my helmet but can't afford it. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  12. Both handles on our student rigs cutaway and deploy reserve. If you don't have anything landable over your head at 1000ft youd better be still pulling handles damn quick or hope you are going fast enough for the CYPRES fire, so you can survive long enough to obtain your directions to the bowling alley. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  13. How about... you know you got it bad when you spend the majority of your awake but not jumping hours on dropzone.com. Not to mention some hours that you should be sleeping or working. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson

  16. I've seen alot of bridles that when cocked the inner bridle does not show colour in the window. Inner bridle elongation or whatever... it should be know long before flightline check that bridle is cocked. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  17. You gain weight because you can't afford a new parachute and you want to go faster! -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  18. I've been called a sarcastic asshole for it But I try to keep that at work. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  19. I would hope that people who design, build, test, manufacture, sell, and repair our reserve parachutes aren't the type that would accidently pack something w/ an unstowed toggle. But shit happens probably although they may not advertise it on a public forum. Even NASA fucks up. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  20. Zippers broke on both of them too. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  21. Embarassing moment for the student and instructor: AFF jump going very well, all requirements met in plenty of time.. instructors points at the cameraman as in "Hey look over there at the camera!". Student recognizes the hand signal and pulls at 7K. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  22. I've tried a couple.... it's a marketing ploy really. You can sleep in them yes, but it's not comfortable and not recommended. Then again I have a friend that slept in normal soft lenses (not daily) that you are supposed to keep for a year. He just took them out once a month soaked them and back in they went. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  23. I got a very poorly made suit from Kurupee w/ mistakes on the options... they were then very happy to send me another poorly made suit w/ mistakes on the options. I have seen other Kurupee suits that were OK though. I bet your chances of getting a good suit are better with Tony Suits. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  24. It's funny when they buzz by you to show you where they are right before they open so you have an excellent seat while they struggle with retarded line twists at 1000ftin their bman suit... entertaining to say the least. That is of course if the outcome is good. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  25. See it in IMAX if you get the chance. You'll appreciate it even more. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
