  1. I think I remember reading about a very recent lawsuit in.. I think it was New Jersey.. in which a judge reitterated that a family's right to sue for the wrongfull death of a family member cannot be affected by the signing of a waier by the deceased. You cannot sign away someone elses rights. In said case I believe the daughter (don't quote me) sued successfully for gross negligence causing death against some sort of scuba company. Waivers do not exclude the dropzones liability to take any reasonable measures necessary to ensure the safety of it's participants. You can not have someone sign a waiver saying it is ok to kill them and then kill them and get away with it. Just causes more paperwork to be filed in the system. I like the idea of charging more to not sign a waiver and then making them sign something saying they refuse to sign a waiver... thats funny shit. Anyone who pays more and signs that should not be allowed to progress past tandems, and should be immediately directed to the nearest bowling ally. And then you should make them sign a waiver stating that they refused to sign a waiver that you are not liable for them getting hurt bowling. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  2. Untill I got into skydiving I had no friends above 2000 ft. Even now they are all under 2000 ft most of the time still. Even if they are 200ft under canopy or 700 ft still in freefall. Whatever my primal instinct survival skills will allow (who really knows untill it happens) I will do for my friends. Abouth the canopy collision, under 500 ft or so I hope that I would try to hang on and deal with my own high speed PLF when I came to that bridge. I would rather be lying next to my friend in the hospital than standind over his/her casket wishing I had done more. My friend is my friend no matter what altitude they are at and in what state they are in. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson

  10. very skinny side to side... but have depth front to back, which is why I have a very hard time finding a good helmet. I have been looking for years for a good fitting snowboard helmet. The M Aviator fits well, but not incredibly snug. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  11. Whatever you do, don't send it to PD... they will cut the lines off and tell you it is not airworthy. Then not only do you have to put patches on it, you have to reline it TOO!! Kidding of course.. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson

  13. My less than one year old Skytronic FX crapped out on me. ParaGear basically told me to suck it up. Parasport Italia gave me a run around and told me I would have to deal with the dealer and then came along T from Unfeathered. She had absolutely nothing to do with the sale of the original unit, but told me to send it to her and she would ship it to Italy. She opened it, looked at it, and sent me a new one. T from Unfeathered also rocks... although I do have to recommend the Neptune... Alti 2 kicks ass. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  14. Do a bunch of jumps, become an instructor, then ask him if you can jump. If he says yes, you can take this tandem... that's when you tell him to go fuck his hat. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson

  16. If they have so many jumpers that they are turning them away, they should buy another friggen plane. I know DZO's don't make a whole lot on experienced jumpers, but they aren't losing money either. Or they wouldn't be in business at all. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson

  23. Interesting. I have heard the term "Farmer McNasty" before. I've heard it at my dropzone, and I've heard it here before, describing unfriendly locals. Is it possible that this is not a whuffo troll, but a skydiving troll? -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  24. I agree with jlskycam... Whatever the method of getting the canopy into the bag, phsyco/S-folds/cramming a mess, you are really just trying to find different and creative ways of controlling the air that you have just purged from the canopy. When you are new to packing this is key! Learn to use any free part of your body to keep the canopy "cocoon" together after you have laid it down. When you are putting it in the D-bag, you need to use your knees and your forearms alot to keep control of the canopy while keeping your hands free to do the things that require your fingers like grabbing the D-bag and squishing extra material in the bag. The absolute most important thing when learning to pack is patience. It's very hard to not get frustrated and upset. But don't worry... if you've done everything right up untill putting the canopy in the bag... it'll probably work no matter how sloppy it is getting it in there (provided you do everything right after putting the canopy in the bag as well ). If you screw it up really bad, don't just back up a step and try it again.... go all the way back to the begining and start again. Good luck with all that, you'll have great personal gratification once you nail it. And then you will never want to do it again. The absolute easiest way to get it to pack up smaller, better, easier, nicer, flatter, prettier.... give your rig and some of your money to one of us packers. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
