I don't care how I die, I just don't want to be there when it happens. There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years...

Being a millionaire is more common than people think. There is a book titled "The Millionaire Next Door", which talks about it. It says most millionaires drive an older car (with the "average" millionaire never spending more than $30K on a car), don't eat out too often, etc. It states that 1 in 14 Americans are millionaires. I know a self-made millionaire (maybe worth 3 million $). He doesn't look at himself as all that wealthy. The first rig he bought was used, and then bought new about 5 years ago. The last car he bought was a used Honda. Does his wealth benefit his family? Not really, although he's thinking about sending a few grand to his brother for his 2 year-old niece's college fund. Nobody in his family lives paycheck to paycheck, but if they were struggling to make ends meet, he'd help. There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years...

For Spanish Press 1, For English please stay on the line
TheBachelor replied to funks's topic in Speakers Corner
Business is one thing, but when non-business entities such as the government and schools spend extra money (that they don't have) to kowtow non-English speakers, it maddens me. There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years... -
How many jumps before you had a reserve ride?
TheBachelor replied to SarahC07's topic in The Bonfire
No reserve rides yet. 890 jumps and counting. There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years... -
Ditto. Nancy's devotion over the past 10 years has been incredible. I am a member at the Reagan Library. When high-profile speakers were there, Nancy attended the functions, but as soon as they were done speaking, she was headed right back home to Mr. Reagan. The Reagan's friends' were getting very concerned about her health because she always wanted to be his primary caregiver, and was wearing herself out. God bless both of them. RW full-face helmet for contact lens wearer
TheBachelor replied to Nightingale's topic in Gear and Rigging
My fiancee' wears contacts, and is very sensitive to dust, etc. getting in her eyes. For that reason, I got her a Z-1 helmet, which has a good seal on the face shield when closed. I have an Oxygn A3, but it allows a fair amount of wind to get in during freefall. She has put about 10 jumps on the Z-1, and just loves it. You could try hers on for size, but it is an XL. Good vibes to Todd, a great person and talented skydiver. We're all pulling for you Todd. I just remembered that Todd took my fiancee' on her first skydive (a tandem). So positive vibes from both of us, Todd. There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years...

The last one was a line over and the jumper was using a packer. The packer was more bothered by it than the jumper. There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years...

I know with my Sabre1, they said not to tuck the nose into teh middle cell like I did with their F111 canopies. I don't remember them saying not to roll the nose at all. I've always rolled the nose of the Sabre, as does the packer I usually use, and my openings are usually soft. There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years...

I BELIEVE that her main was a Sabre2 - 170, probably loaded about 1:1. I don't know what her reserve was. There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years...

I use Norton Internet Security. I did have one situation where it was using 99 percent of my CPU, bogging the system down. I found a solution for it on their support site. Other than that, no problems. I'll buy it again for my next computer. There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years...

There was a situation at the big-way camp at Perris last weekend where a jumper ended up with 2 canopies out. The initial reaction on the ground was “Cypres fire”, but it turned out to be something more unusual. The reserve closing loop broke after she had deployed her main and released the brakes. After the rigger inspected the container, it was determined that a sharp edge on the reserve grommet had (probably) cut the loop. The 2 canopies deployed in a biplane configuration with the main in front. Since the main was in front, the jumper did not cut it away. She steered towards the landing area using her main toggles to make small turns, allowing the reserve to “catch up” to the main’s turn before turning any further. A canopy manufacturer’s rep was on site, and said that in test jumps he had done with 2 canopies out, he experienced similar behavior with the reserve following the main when small turns were made. Kudos to the jumper for her handling of a dangerous situation, and to Kate, Dan B.C., Tony, and Larry for ensuring that the people who had reserve rides (4 total) had other rigs to jump so they didn’t miss any of the camp’s jumps. Military colleagues say Kerry unfit to be Commander-in-Chief
TheBachelor replied to panzwami's topic in Speakers Corner
It was in the (left-wing) LA Times today, May 4th, although quoted several people who questioned the validiity and motive of such a letter. There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years... -

The longest I've tried is 36 hours. I could have made it longer, but was going to the gym and I didn't want to pass out. I started on a Saturday morning, and it's funny how many times I thought about where I was going to have lunch, dinner, etc. There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years...

Yeehaw! Workers' Comp to be Overhauled in CA

I'm glad that Mickelson won, and I'm happy that he went out, performed in the clutch and WON it -- nobody collapsed so he could back into it. I watched some of the interviews with him afterwards, and he was great. Someone asked him if golf "owed him" this win because of all he's been through. Phil just said "I'm just happy that I can be playing this game for a living. Golf doesn't owe me anything." There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years...

My fiancee' has done 20 jumps so far. Since she liked the tandem I bought her, I asked if she wanted to try AFF. She did and for the most part, is having fun. I vowed to try to avoid giving advice while she was still in training. It's difficult, and we had an argument about it last weekend. I'm glad she is jumping. Now, we both want to go to the DZ on the weekends. There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years...

What has been your favorite jump of the year so far?
TheBachelor replied to Casch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Probably a hibrid 8-way done with 4 of us RW fliers and 4 freefliers. We formed a 4-way round, and 4 of the freefliers docked on us (while they were belly-flying), put their hands through our leg straps, and then went into a stand. You could really feel the formation accellerate. We held that for 10 to 15 seconds, and then they let go. It was cool to see them fall away while we decelerated. There are battered women? in a no wind situation, FOLLOW the set flight path!
TheBachelor replied to TribalTalon's topic in Safety and Training
A problem I regularly see in light winds is people chasing the tetrahedron. My DZ has a policy of "low or no-winds, land towards the lake" and, "the first person down sets the landing direction. If you don't like it, land in one of the 'alternate' landing areas." Apparently, many people forget these policies, creating potentially dangerous situations. Early in the day on Saturday, we had low winds which were changing directions constantly. One of the jumpers did something really smart: Prior to boarding, he announced to everyone in the boarding area what the DZ's policy was with winds like they were, and everyone ended up landing in the same direction.
