***Of course there's reaction. The reaction to the gravitational force of the Earth on a skydiver is the gravitational force exerted by the skydiver on the Earth. Equal and opposite. Air resistance is NOT the equal and opposite reaction to gravity. Your explanation is incorrect. Quote I don't think so. The question was the terminal velocity where the magnitude of the forces are equal and the direction is opposite.

Why do you use NewtonIII in a case where is no reaction? Reaction is going to happen when the object touches the surface. NewtonIII is the case where an object is not the surface of the Moon. NewtonII should be use with an object over the Moon surface or moving with the 1st or 2st orbiting speed of the Moon.

Fool proof pilot chute / always to be cocked?
phoenixlpr replied to Liemberg's topic in Gear and Rigging
Why could the kill-line break? Let me guess: poor gear maintenance? -
See the 3rd law of motion by Newton: http://csep10.phys.utk.edu/astr161/lect/history/newton3laws.html Force to accelerate m * g where m is the weight, g ~ 10 m/s^2 force equlas to it: r * A * v ^2 where r is coming from the shape, A is the area and v is the speed. When a jumper reach terminal velocity m * g = r * A * v ^ 2

Its good to have the Hotmail-BigBro. http://spidernest.ath.cx/apps/gofast-screensaver.zip You may have it from here.

I think it could be a good all-around canopy. Not everyone is going for sub100 hotties.

Stall Surge on Tandems (or sport rigs)

Just for the record, what is the maximum recommended wing load for Raven Reserve? Is it 1.3? -
??? I see you see the trend, but you don't know the reason.

Fool proof pilot chute / always to be cocked?
phoenixlpr replied to Liemberg's topic in Gear and Rigging
My problem was it didn't always want to get in there.... So it isn't as perfect as someone thinks. -
Don't make it so complicated! Your reserve is just another canopy, nothing more, nothing less (if its over you head).Try to not exceed manufacturers weight limit. You may barrow some 7cell F111 rig and have some jumps with that. Those are quite close to a reserve. If you are jumping with a ZP main, don't forget that a F111 canopy has a different flare and it has to flared in a different way. Practice flare and stalls up high and don't stall you F111 canopy close to ground.

From a different thread: Do you still want to have it? It was built by Paratrade/Hungary. It think the company is out of business. -
So what is your recommendation? Anyway what suite would you recommend as a first suite? Used Classic/II, Gti ? New Phi or Firebird?

I had a beginner prone kill line PC. The pin was pulled back inside the bridle, so you could not close your container if you PC has not been cocked before. It had a downside too: you had a chance that the pin get stuck and spin up.....and not killed... It has happened 10-15 times from 160 dives. I've got it fixed/converted, so I can peek through the window of the bridle.

Where? Checking "on the flight line.." ??? First of all I'm not giving gear check. I do cock my PC before start packing, after Ive set my breakes. I do check my PC before I bag my canopy and before I the PC in the BOC packet. So If I have my PC in BOC packet its ready for jump. I check my main pin before I get my gear on.

Where???? You must've been kidding!

LOL. I was told that being a tandem master/pilot is a job to do.
-
I think I don't have to explain you how is it feel being milked and being a guest/visitor. I've jump places with diffrent jump tickets rates for club members or even for the clubs inner circle. I don't like this kind of policy.

Do you kiss the cow after milking?

Imperial system should be history!

A digital barometric altimeter and a windspeed-o-meter would do the trick with some microcontroller. So you need a pilot tube mounted somewhere :).
-
Robnyk Sapphire Hand-Mount Altimeter. I've bought it and I'm satisfied with it.

I think GPS is an overshoot. It could be done with a hardware hacked Pro-Ditter.....

Try a Sabre2 120. It seems to be quite popular, steeper angle, longer rec. arc comparing with Stiletto.

Wooooow! We have a pissing contest! How nice!

Take it this way. A plain overall may serve you as long as you could find out what kind of jump suite you want to have, You may not know your fall-rate and what discipline you are interested yet.
