  1. Barb your going to be getting the evil eye on the plane from people when they see that bad boy... Sclera= white part of the eye... I told you not to juggle those midgets... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  2. Well with that eye I think I will have to relocate... I told you to play nice with Spreckles... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  3. I think it's VD... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  4. Busted...Fair enough... But JP you have no fact base data showing Technora is better than vectran. My point is they are both destroyed by UV at least with Vectran you can see it's wear. HMA/Technora is a stronger line but it is even more suceptible to UV. And breaks down quicker from my reviews with it. I just dislike the "sales man" song I have been hearing from your post with no scientific data supporting it. The link you gave me was basicly an add from the company to buy their product... I will let sleeping dogs lie... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  5. 1. The link in now way supports Technora, it simply states the obvious chemical structure and similarity to nylon. 2.Chemistry degree from UNC helps. MEL happens to be an Nuclear Physist last time I checked. So I am sure he has more than enough know how to support his statements. 3.Did you know that team Evolution has the same thing too? Yes I knew their competition canopies are lined with HMA. We had a discusion going her, try to remain civil. Oh ,and think man, think.*** Try spell check, ohh and who's ass? ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  6. http://composite.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?site=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.teijin-aramid.com%2FENG%2Faramid_fiber.htm I love it when people have no idea about what they are talking about especially when they go out and attack someone who does know... Why don't you pick up a chemistry book and start reading... Or you can just do quick look at the link above... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  7. I will post what ever I get... At the moment I am in wait mode for delivery... I wouldn't mind if it was gray market or referbished, but I would be pissed if it turned out to be PAL. I was told by the items discription that it was sealed in box. So that lead me to believe it might be hot or something else. But regardless it should still have some sort of warranty. As for Infinity I talked with them but they are not who I originally purchased the camera through. ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  8. Infinity Cameras Also I would try ebay... As for the Da Bomb what is it's condition and how much? ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  9. I just purchased a new DCR PC330 ($775). I am strictly using it for my freeflying addiction. I am looking to pick up a BoneHead Da Bomb helmet with it as well. I need to know what lenses I should get. I know that I need a .45 or .42 wideangle for my style of flying. My experiences with still photography back in the day I would have a polorizer and UV protection. Will I need the same for video? And any little extras I might need... Please let me know the consensus from the veteran videographer world... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  10. If you come down to San Diego or contact Wyatt down there I am sure you will have the chance to demo that canopy. I know they have two on hand at the DZ. Not to mention you will get the experience of the new DZ. ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  11. Rebuttal... Could you rephrase that... Oh and can you use this on a side mount or is this design specifically for top? ~G~ There's a bus up ahead and looks as though JP is getting thrown under it... "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  12. Wyatt told me of a fire in the fabric wherehouse. Thus creating delays in the production of my VX... Thanks MEL I will have to call you up and have some more discusions regarding line sets... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  13. Thanks for the commercial add supporting Technora. That's no different than a Pepsi commercial telling me how refreshing it is compared to Coke... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  14. Nice rebuttal... I have actually contacted the manufacturers and others like George at Precision (very helpful) MEL (Master Rigger 1) CSR (company that makes Vectran, HMA, Spectra) and I have found that despite the increase in strength from HMA compared to Vectran, you will lose it the same if not worse than Vectran. They are both very strong fibers, but extremely susceptible to UV radiation. Thus they are working on a coating that can with stand the stress from the slider, opening shock, and UV. Tall order but it seems that skyding seems to simply follow in sailings foot steps. So when new ropes are made for sailing we simply incorporate them into our sport... Thus the invention of Spectra, Vectran, and HMA... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  15. Show me the DATA Possibly b/c it has been out longer? ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  16. OK JP I would like an unbias opinion, since 1. I know your an avid supporter of Precision... 2. you fly a Xaos... In research, we scientist like to have things proven to us. We don't neccessarily take people's word for it unlesss there is DATA supporting the fact... So.... Show me the DATA where Vectran is far less superior to HMA. ~G~ Ohh Niether does Spectra or Dacron for that matter... "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  17. Jonny's right regarding the HMA and shows of wear. Icarus has a set up in Spain where they test Vectran and HMA on stress simulator where brass and stainless steel gromets slide down the line to replicatethe action of the slider on opening. They have concluded that HMA will suddenly snap while the Vectran begins to show wear. Also I have seen pilots change out there brake lines to Dacron or Vectran just because of the uncertainty of HMA. Also for competition there are a lot of pilots out there that have their sponsors change there lines to HMA for swoop competitions. Though this seems to be a trend I am not saying all pilots do it... ~G~ P.S. Thanks MEL... We're talking about San Diego right??? More or less a leper colony, there's one guy in particular that wears a stuffed animal on his head... Another that brings crappy canadian beer, and then there are all the bottom feeders that show up out of no where when the coolers arrive... Awesome place... "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  19. Have you contacted L & B? I am sure they will replace it... I had mine replaced after it was cracked and it was only a week down time... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  20. And change the lines to HMA versus the vectran. Also they eliminate the cascades in the lines. The idea is to turn the VX into a Xaos... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  21. I have washed my canopy three times since I have owned it. It has 1000+ jumps on it and has been through two relines. I would put it in the washing machine with lines daisy chained using woolite or a nonclorinated or nonphosphated detergent. I used the gentle cycle with limited agitation. I then rinse the canopy five times using the machine for three of them. I then transfered the canopy to the bath tub for two more. I washed the lines separately, or gave them their own wash. The vectran fuzzes up after washing it but after I lay out the canopy to dry in the shade or in a garage. I would apply silicone to the lines, coating them liberally after everything was dry. I wiped down the lines with a towel aafer I let the silicone soak into the lines. Next day I hooked up the canopy and flew it. I have had this canopy now for well over a year and have over 300+ jumps on the vectran line set that has been washed three times. I have had two bar tack conections break on the stabalizer during opening bnut that just gave me a slight shift to one side or the other. Since then I have resewn all of them just to be sure. The canopy is an old FX 120 made by Precision in 1998. I am quite impressed at how well the canopy has held up. If you wash a canopy I would get in touch with a mill that produces the stuff and research the fabric. ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  22. I have had a Por Track for the past three years. I recently broke the LCD display on the front of the unit. I emailed the company to tell them I wanted to service the Altimeter since it was actually a very good peice of equipment and would hate to have to go buy another one. They responded to the email that day telling me to send it back for repairs and there would be no charge for the repairs. I sent it back and received a brand new ProTrack within a week of sending off the original broken unit. These guys are a true professional company. I expected to at least pay for the replacement or work performed on the broken Pro Track. Instead they were nice enough to give me one free of charge. Thank you Larsen and Brusgaard.
  23. I like this idea and have seen some pilots use it. I just never understood how it worked. Where can I get one? As for the under the chin trick, I am out on that one after I saw a guy cut away with his slider under there. It didn't help that he had a full set up on his camera helmet... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  24. I like to stow the slider after the canopy has opened. And was wondering if anyone out there has a particular trick they like to use to keep it down. I have slider stops that I had sewn on the rear risers to keep the slider from creeping up, but I would like to get something better that really reduces the drag and keeps it from flapping in the wind behind my head. Does anyone have any good ideas? ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  25. Have you tried an FX 120? I flew the Velocity for awhile and didn't like it for the openings either. But the FX on the other hand has completely different openings. I usually psycho pack it and 98% of the time I am on heading. The Velocity was great except when it came out of the bag, once inflated it was great. I just hated the 50/50 after deploying... Check out a FX... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
