  1. I have two terminal rides on my Smart 150... I have no complaints, on the first ride I was shaken a little so I did not flare completely but stood up all the same... The second ride I was more aware of it's flight than my previous and I would say it flys similar to a spectre or triathalon, either way I am happy to say it saved me... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  2. Yes they are $10... But they only have a Cessna and there really is no one there to jump with, thus the ten dollar jumps to bring in some atmosphere and experienced jumpers... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  3. Call Skydive San Diego... Ask them how to get in contact with Simon Powell... I am sure he will be glad to help you as well, but since someone gave you Hectors number you should try that too... Have you thought about calling the service reps? ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  4. At the moment Wyatt is traveling to Oregon for the Freedom Boogie at molalla. That might be the cause of the delay... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  5. Way to go "Crack-pipe" (Nick Boyd #11) ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  6. I heard the rumor as well... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  7. Very fun place, has all the ammenities that larger DZ's have with very friendly locals. Andy the DZO has made the place incredible with Team Evolution and the team rooms, new packing areas, and awsome atmosphere.
  8. Awsome... I was totally impressed with seeing how much our little DZ has changed. Having been jumping there for the past three years I was amazed at how much effort went into that place for the boogie... I am torn telling people about it because I enjoy the small DZ atmosphere, it is a little oasis for skydivers that very few know about.... Thanks Andy P.S. Aubrey, I want to jump with you, I remember when you were a student down there and our small group of freeflyers were all waiting for the day to jump with you... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"

  10. When ever the birds show up at San Diego, I like to call it the Ira Boogie... $35 Helicopter jumps to 5000ft... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  11. Straight from the horses mouth... Or is it... from his mouth? HUGE amounts... I compared the Nitro (with burritos) similar to a stiletto with longer flare capabilities and a longer recovery arc. But I did not feel that it was as nice as a Crossfire2 when comparing the two. It was a nice price that JP gave me on the demo, I will give him that... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  12. Niceeeeee!!!! Personally I like strawberry or cherry, but I plan on pacing myself that night being that I have all day Sunday to jump as well... I get the idea that people feel sketchy about San Diego but I think it's the oasis and a nice break from Perris and Elsinore during the summer... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  13. I know of five of us that are guaranteed to be there... Team Evolution has some interesting things planned for the weekend... The bunkhouse is finished as well as the new packing area... There's talk about "The Tavern" having a bar set up for the festivities by the new team rooms with deck... Not like they will need it with all the people that bring beer usually but it's alway nice to have extra... For those who have been to San Diego in the past, it's a totally new drop zone... Counting the days... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  14. Think, If Hyper is trying to eliminate the vorticies that are coming off the wing, then why wouldn't they simply immitate the same design as the jets have? ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  15. Check out Skydive San Diego, Wyat and Brett of Team Evolution jump there and there are no worries of dust devils or thermals. They have a canopy course if your intrerested. Winds are out of the west always and you have the best view as well. Tickets are $15 for the summer ($5 -$6 cheaper than Perris and Elsinore) and it is generally 5-10 degrees cooler since we are close to a large body of water and not located in the valley. I like Perris and Elsinore it's just too hot this time of year and too far to drive for higher jump prices. In two weeks there will be a boogie there where $179 pays for the three days of jumping or $99 a day if you only want to be there for a day or so... There is super otter and a caravan, also helicopter jumps for $35... Pretty neat for such a small place... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  16. I like the new issues, with their new glossy format. But what is up with all the suicides? ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  17. Otter Pooo ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  18. I would call up Sky Dive San Diego as well if you cant get hold of Wyat through the service numbers. He returned this weekend to San Diego being that he was in the PST in NJ... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  19. Do you think the Velocity is trimmed at stepper angle of attack than the VX? ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  20. Spectra actually will stretch and it does shrink as well. This is what manufaturers call "creep". It goes out of trim after 500 or so jumps depending on the use and exposure to the elements. Vectran has little to no "creep" it is a little stronger than spectra but has it fall backs when UV light is put into the equation. As for the "fuzz" Spectra usually shows better signs of this than Vectran. It is the one signs of wear that is indigenous of spectra that lets the user know it is time to change the line set. Vectran shows a little of this but it becomes very dark and gray in color. It tends to break down and turn into soft yarn as it gets older with use. Vectran has a tendency to break unsuspectedly, that is why it is good o check out lines made of this regularly, as it is good to check spectra too but the wear is more noticeable on spectra. As for Dacron your info seems pretty much right on. There is another type of line out there that you have missed it's called High Modulus Aramid (HMA). This is a relatively new line and has been used in the past 4-5 years with some research. It also goes by the trade name Technora. It is a very strong line with similar characteristics of Vectran but it is has a smaller diameter, making for less drag. ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  21. Phil you need to stop touching yourself when others are around... It's not exactly appropriate, especially in that "vagina" lab of yours, people are giong to start wondering... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  22. 5.1 off shore Mexico in TJ... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  23. We are in Carlsbad and we are trying to get some info... Something like 4.7 I think... Out of Edwards AFB... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  24. I jump a pull out, and have had this delimma regarding the clean air as well. I have also had a few floating puds. But I haven't had and total mals. I like the pull out and I have learned to expose the pilot chute to clean air. I have had the pilot chute pop into my burble a couple of times but all I do is look over my right shoulder and it seems to do the trick. The only thing that took me time to get used to was the one second delay that takes place as the pilot chute grabs air. Where with a throw out you can feel things happening as soon as you let the pilot chute go. I don't mind the delay being that I am flying something that is rather aggressive any how. try and demo something if possible or check out the system better before buying... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
  25. I just heard Kapowsin has been shut down for the time being??? ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
