The new drop zone is oriented towards college students or individuals who wish to do tadems. It is not set up for AFF and has a couple of guys and a cesna 206 jumping on "Trident". The new DZ is Luther one of Joe's employees flying his Cesna and jumping Trident. Pretty cool I guess but it set up for tandems pretty much. Your comparing a 7 cell crossbrace to a 9 cell high performance canopy... I would have top say the first thing you will see is the Katana has a better aspect ratio for forward glide. Smaller canopy should come down sooner regardless of the fact that both canopies are at the same wingloading... Rigging Innovations, and Infinity as well as Mirage have this already. Just ask them for the line stows to be in the center of the bag vs, on the out side and they will do it... I am pretty sure it comes standard with Infinity and Mirage. Fayetteville isn't so bad... You have quite a few places to jump and many places you can drive too that are even better... I spent 6 years there, in fact if it was my choice I would prefer Bragg to Polk... And if I really had a prerference Vacinza would be the place... No longer had the drive and passion for what I was suppose to be doing... 11B2V Airborne Infantry Ranger Tried out college, was scared more of that than being sent into combat or falling out of an airplane... Learning to depend on yourself as the soul provider and no longer having uncle sam as a financial crutch... Easy part... Ability to out drink any student on campus... Came close to doing so... Lost interest in my job as a researcher, missed the status I had as a Ranger and the commradery in the unit... I don't miss the micro management I found in many places with the quick turn over rate of officers and senior enlisted. SF was the one place I enjoyed where the people wanted to be there. But found there were too many chiefs not enough indians depending on who you were with. All in all there are a lot of egos to deal with in the service same as skydiving... I would ask the DZ for the box of Ant Killer powder. Thus you can see what is in the ant killer. I would do this b/c there is a substance that is quite common to ant incecticides called Boric acid. It is a white powder used that ants are quite suceptable too. It is not too friendly and is a low pHd acid but none the less it will do damage over time. I don't know what I would use to get rid of the powder other than water. Acetone is a good solvent and is similar to the effects of the lighter fluid that the other poster used, you can find it as nail polish remover, also try alcohol, its also a good solvent for this sort of thing. But I would contact performance textiles or some other mill that manufactures the nylon. I have no problem with getting my p/c into clean air. But the Voodoo does take awhile to get used to with a pull out. I am glad you are reliving the good old days Barb, I am sorry thre aren't more there to enjoy them with you... I figure if I am going to pay for skydiving and I have three other DZ's to choose from that have bigger planes, constant loads turning, rigging services on sight, jumpers with better skills than me who can LO, a little grass or weeds to land on, and no bus ride... I am glad you have found a new home DZ, but it's not the same place I remember, and those days are gone and the people have moved on to bigger and better things. I don't really get this statement but I have never really seen you get excited at other DZs for tandems and students, but maybe I am missing out on the magic at Brown... I have a Voodoo, and have had a few gripes but nothing major, and nothing Sandy wasn't willing to fix for me. Currently he is setting my Voodoo up for left side deployment since having surgery... He (and Brenda) have always accomidated me easily and with the friendlist service when ever something went wrong or was troubling me.
