  1. No, it was never funny. Its been stupid from day #1. Only a fucktard would go around imitating that stuff
  2. Some subjects are not matters for joking about, dude. Have some respect.
  3. Congrats man! 5 years! Congrats to riggerrob today too! Comin up on 8 years myself in a couple months. Being us rocks on New Years day AM and we dont feel like shit! Its gratifying to see so many people that have escaped with our lives
  4. The great stuff I learned today involved more of arms and legs. I flew fairly flat but not as flat as I had been doing before. Using my arms and legs to slow down while still keeping a bit of an arch kept me stable and in control unlike before where I was like a piece of plywood flapping and flopping around without any real control. I never would have figured this stuff out without the coaching. The way I look at it, if AggieDave weighs 285 lbs out the door and he can do 115 mph then so can I
  5. Following the advice of some folks in this thread I did a coached jump today to address that end of things too. It was very eye opening. Before we left the ground he had me lie down on my belly and show him my "idea" of how to slow down and speed up. Turns out I was doing several things wrong and he gave me instruction on better body position. We then went on up to 13k and did a 2 way where he flew base and I sat in front of him and we worked on slowing down and speeding up over and over till pull time. The end result is that I did far better with the tips he gave me and was able to maintain control even while going as slowly as I could (which was still fairly fast ) I have a new jumpsuit on the way to help me slow down more. Between the jumpsuit and the coaching I think I have it licked. Still need more practice, of course, but I'm feeling a LOT better and more confident after today. The coaching was a great idea.
  6. Point Break Cutaway Drop Zone Terminal Velocity all these movies stink from a "good movie" perspective but all have some good jumps Cutaway has the most and best skydiving sequences. Point Break is the most unrealistic and rediculous Dropzone is probably the best from a "decent plot and acting" perspective. Terminal Velocity is amusing
  7. I dont see Gilligan on the list...
  8. This means that his main took a good while to inflate rather than opening fast. I expect the reserve deployment was a cypres fire

    top tip

I'll bet that stuff you are taking is illegal
  10. How did you survive the wait??? 4 to 8 weeks is sure a long time (or at least is seems like) Took my stuff 11 weeks and I nearly died. I had to be put on life support for the last 2 weeks! Of course it went and got a scuff mark on jump #1 and now its not new anymore
  11. Learn to fly better so people will want to jump with me :-) I hope to make at least 100 jumps in 2004 Starting tomorrow when the DZ opens
  12. I know how you feel. Just got my first all new rig 8 weeks ago. Congrats
  13. If adding muscle mass is important to you, then ephedra products are not the way to go. In spite of what every single one out there claims, if you use this product in an effort to lean out while retaining mass, you will be disappointed. As an energy boost with no effort at fat burn you might be ok, but my experience tells me that the same thing can be achieved with a large cup of strong coffee, a huge bowl of oatmeal sweetened with a big glob of brown sugar or honey. You get a stimulant, a large dose of complex carb and a large dose of simple carb. All you need for a heavy lifting session. Wait an hour and then hit the weights
  14. first I removed all the pads 1. Sanded the smooth surface off to give the paint something to hold on to 2. 1 coat of gray primer inside and out 3. 3 coats of high gloss enamel (gold) inside and out 4. Masked off the areas that were to look like "cracks" 5. painted crack design with a brush 6. 3 coats of high gloss clear laquer (Krylon) inside and out Most important things I learned from the first one: Let each coat dry completely BEFORE applying the next coat. Drying time varies with the paint. 48 hours for the paint I used. Keep the thing in a dust free environment while its drying or you will get lots of imperfections in the finish. Make sure the place you are working is well ventilated
  15. Correct. I believe that they were originally designed for sports like skateboarding, cycling, etc. but lend themselves well to skydiving as they are very light, comfortable, and very strong. Fact is, as far as protection is concerned, there is no other skydiving helmet that even comes close. I like mine and plan to continue to use it :-)
  16. Not as scary as some of the stuff William Shatner did
  17. I agree on principal. More regulation is bad and I dont believe that ephedra based products are inherently dangerous. In truth though, there isnt anything you can do with ephedra that you cant do with proper nutrition and exercize :-) I tried Xenadrine (ephedra based) to lean out last year as part of my bodybuilding plan and in point of fact it didnt noticeably increase my fat burn rate. It did keep me up at night though and I lost a greater amount of muscle mass while using it than when using nothing. For me it was actively counterproductive Thats not to say that it doesnt work for others but it didnt help me much at all. I now stick with the traditional methods of fat burning. To lean out I decrease my carb intake and increase my cardio workouts. Its very effective and I dont have to worry that the government will ban it BTW, Alcohol kills tens of thousands both directly and indirectly EVERY YEAR. Ephedra was linked to the deaths of a few individuals and they are going to ban it. Who besides myself sees this fact as almost completely absurd? Once again, I dont use it myself(Alcohol OR ephedra). But I sure as shit believe that I SHOULD be able to if I choose to do so.
  18. Skydiving is "extreme"ly cool! I dont think its all that extreme in the way that you mean. With all proper training and equipment its not nearly as dangerous as uneducated opinion makes it seem. To your average whuffo that doesnt do anything more dangerous than step over the dog on his way from the sofa to the kitchen to grab another beer it might seem pretty extreme. So might bodybuilding for that matter. In point of fact, I have been injured far more times while lifting than I have skydiving and I feel that I'm at a much greater risk while holding a 340 lb barbell over my chest than I am skydiving. Does this make bodybuilding an extreme sport? I dont make that "Y" gesture with my hand so I'm not cool and therefore my opinion bears no weight
  19. I've exited from 6 inches. I went low but had a good canopy by 2 inches. Landed out.

  21. If you have the desire you can give it a nice custom paint job and that takes care of any lack in the looks dept. Thats what I did. These pics dont really do the finish justice and I'm currently working on a much nicer one. These pics are my first attempt and thus included all my mistakes and a boring color scheme Check the pics in this post. This was painted to match the color of the grippers on my jumpsuit and in fact, its an exact match. The original color was a sandy gray color. I customize them further by bolting snaps onto the outside that I snap my goggles onto. This allows me to have my helmet on in the plane but I can wait till just prior to exit to put on the goggles since they are on the outside. I can remove them after I'm under canopy too for a better view. I got this idea from my home DZ in Hazleton, PA. They do this on their student helmets. I loved the idea so I immediately stole it for my own helmet. My next one will be far more interesting and cool. Its "under construction" as I post this. If it turns out good I'll post some more pics. You can have both strength and a cool look too. It will always look like a pro-tec but thats not a bad looking basic helmet in my opinion. You can even mount audibles inside them. They do that on all student helmets at my DZ
  22. Pro-tec :-) Strongest helmet I've seen Cheapest helmet I've seen ($40.00) Paint it to make it look cool.
  23. This is for the experienced instructors that have seen you fly to answer.
  24. Everyone and their brother landed out Saturday at CK for some reason.
