by the way, finally someone who approaches this issue without a blindfold, thank you!! Ahhh, so only people that agree with you 100% are approaching the issue without a blindfold. I do believe that several posters in this thread had valid points, not just the ones that agree with you. Nope, I'm not saying that because she agreed with me. I said it because it was presented in a manor that was fair towards either "side" and without bullshit. Also, there are valid points in here I don't agree with but I value as well. Just because you have a disagreement doesnt mean you cant learn from them yanno. Its the straight up ludicrist comments that are attacks on atheists/agnostics that pisses me off. My other half is christian and does the whole church thing and even though we don't see eye to eye on that we haven't killed each other yet. Correction, I'm the atheist so I guess that should read "I havent killed her yet" LOL ... Your comment implied that only this one person (finally, someone without a blindfold) was not wearing blinders. This, in turn, implies that everyone else IS wearing them. However, if you were to refer back to my comments much earlier in the thread you will see why I took exception to the notion that we are all wearing blinders. I neither supported nor defended any specific religeon, but rather, I implied that mankinds woes, both here and abroad, are the result of human nature and our inability to master our own passions, rather than any church or belief system.

  3. Always was, always will be!
  4. Your poll is so incomplete its meaningless. What about the "Yet to be" or "Still am"?

ALL of the worlds major religeons preach the same basic fundimental concepts. Faith, temperence, respect, love, fidelity, tolerance, etc. NONE of them, as far as I know, promote violence or self indulgance. Its HUMANS that pervert the words of god (whatever you believe that to be) to suit his own needs and ambitions and to justify his absurd behavior. Western culture is not the way it is because of the failings of Christian philosophies anymore than the middle east is the way IT is because of the failings of Islam. Its the failings of humans and our tendancy to allow our animal passions to govern our behavior that has caused our world to become the way it is. This is true for all cultures and all religeons. Laying blame and pointing fingers is another way for humans OF ALL RELIGEONS to justify their own self indulgance and avoid having to try to do anything about it. Well, not all. I've never heard of a rogue sect of Shinto pratitioners blowing anything up in the name of god or anyone else

On a more serious note, I was interested in what this post had to say until it started bashing another belief system. The fact that some people are poor examples of how Christian religeons would want us to behave is not a reflection on the religeon itself anymore than a bunch of hoodlums flying a highjacked airplane into an office building is an example of how Islam wants people to behave.

Well forget it, I'm not joining then. ROFL I love a woman that knows what she wants from life!
  8. Well, you know, out there at the ol "No home dropzone entered." they have no trouble expressing themselves openly and honestly. I'd like to jump there someday but I cant. I'm too stupid I dont even have enough jumps to act like I know what I'm talking about. I think you need 86 for that and I only have 72.
  9. At the risk of being insulted further, if a student doesnt know that 20 mph wind is too much for him/her, who is at fault? There is culpability on both sides here. The primary responsibily for any persons safety lies with the person themselves. That said, is it not the responsibility of the instructors to provide the students with this important information so that they can then make educated choices? I'm seeing people on these forums being blamed for the fact that the student came back weeks later still unaware that 20 mph is too windy for them to jump. Now THATS stupid
  10. Thank you for the vote of confidence, but I prefer "moron" if you want to call me names
  11. The good news, then, is that you have NOT lowered your standards. My reply was not stupid. You may not have agreed with it, but that doesnt make it stupid. I'm not sure why it angered you but may I politely suggest that you have a little time out?
  12. I fail to see how this could possibly be interpreted as bad advice. Nor does it single out any dropzone or instructor. I dont need 800+ jumps to know good advice when I see it, and this is good advice.
  13. I dont think I would recommend this landing procedure.
  14. Bah! We were jumping on Saturday. It was 12 degrees F. on the ground and -15 F. at 13,000. Quit whining and go jump!
  15. All I can say is "Too bad for that guy. He will never know"
  16. How you getting to the DZ if you quit driving???
  17. 12 F at 12000. Wearing nothing but lingerie (well, and a rig). Now that was f&%$ing cold. Wow, can you say high beams?
  18. I'm 40 so if I had that same rule I'd be a real wussy
  19. It was -15 F. (-26 C.) at 13,000 ft today in Cross Keys Only a few of us braved the cold temps. They flew only 2 loads today and I was on both of em :-) They had trouble getting the plane started prior to both loads due to the temp. I look at it this way, almost any day is gonna be warmer than today, so the rest of the winter is lookin pretty good Whats the coldest you have ever jumped?

    bench press

I'm a bodybuilder. Not pro, I'm not cut enough to compete. Working towards it though. My current max bench is 345 lbs I have a goal of 400 lbs, but I'm at least a year from that if not more. I'm 5' 10 1/2" & 205 lbs
  21. No no no. Thats all wrong. You talk them into it, then you make them pay for it! You get some credit towards a jump. Its a win/win situation!
