I wouldn’t really call it a war. More people get shot in one weekend in Chicago than got killed in Afghanistan during the entire Trump administration. (Queue the red mist)
-
Wouldn’t it be better to have no war at all? You know, like we had during the last administration?

A lot of hate from those who would wrap themselves in the blanket of empathy.

I can’t do any of that, in fact I don’t know what any of that even is. The only thing I can wrap my brain around is that there were no tropical cyclones in the Atlantic basin in August. I’m sure a genius like you can set me straight and show the forum the errors of my observation. Eagerly awaiting your tutorage.

Read up on the ACE metric. It takes into account the global number, strength and duration of tropical cyclones and has been trending down not up (as predicted by the ‘experts’)

Every time the Russians claim to hit a HIMARS, we should send one to replace the ones they claim to have hit. That would throw a wrench into their propaganda machine.

“Europe covers about 10.18 million km2 (3.93 million sq mi), or 2% of Earth's surface” Looks like local weather to me.

Congratulations, you learned to capitalize a proper noun, now learn about how hurricanes are measured. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accumulated_cyclone_energy

For only the third time on record, there were NO tropical cyclones in the Atlantic basin in the month of August. Didn’t the ‘experts’ tell us that we would have more hurricanes?

Keep wearing them, it doesn’t piss me off it amuses me. Little clowns in little clown cars wearing little clown costumes.

From the same article “A growing number of very liberal Americans have decided that it’s time to treat Covid as an unpleasant but manageable part of life, much as many other Americans — as well as people in other countries — decided months ago.”
-
A festoon is an adornment attached at two points, not wearing a mask hardly qualifies.
-
From the NYT “To many liberals, taking Covid seriously — more seriously, at times, than the scientific evidence justified — became an expression of identity and solidarity. As one progressive activist tweeted last year, “The inconvenience of having to wear a mask is more than worth it to have people not think I’m a conservative.” I made this call more than a year ago. The mask was no more than a festoon of false moral superiority.

When did I ever do that? I don’t think I have ever used those terms on this forum. If my arguments, supported by evidence, make you feel foolish, then that’s on you. -

It’s really sad that the way you deal with intellectual discourse is through invective. That said, to answer your question, if it were not for me and a few like minded souls, this forum would devolve into a left wing circle jerk. -

I didn’t post that, but thank you for showing us that we have more Arctic sea ice now than we did a decade ago. -

Germany says coal is more important than people
brenthutch replied to brenthutch's topic in Speakers Corner
Original article at Die kalte Sonne “The conclusion of the two is very alarming. Here, too, not a word about “storage facilities galore. Here, reality clashes with the wishful thinking of some green energy protagonists who think there is enough storage and that all that needs to be done is to change the “mindset,” as Patrick Graichen put it. The continued expansion of highly volatile renewable energy sources and the further displacement of more conventional generation units from the market are making the power grid increasingly sensitive to weather-related fluctuations. Unusual weather phenomena such as dark doldrums pose significant challenges to the security and stability of supply to the power grid. The largely intermittent output of solar and wind farms does not correlate with fluctuations in electricity demand. The excess supply of renewable energy should be buffered during periods of low electricity demand, and the stored capacity should be injected back into the grid during periods of high electricity demand when fewer renewable sources are available. However, large battery energy storage systems, which have been promisingly announced, are still not on the horizon due to their low capacity and maturity, as well as their exorbitantly high cost of deployment.” At this point, at the latest, some people’s ears should be ringing: As long as economic energy storage systems are not established, even proponents of the current direction of Germany’s energy transition will have to admit that reliable conventional power plants will be needed for a long time to come.” Is that better? -

Now they just have to reclassify coal as a ‘green’ power source and the planet will be saved.
