Read a bit on the early progressive movement. Margret Sanger? Woodrow Wilson?
-
Yep, we elected Trump and Clinton

Sorry I will take you through it slowly. Not a nothingburger: Global famine, extinction of the polar bears, collapse of the AMOC, the Maldives wiped off the map, death of the Great Barrier Reef and an ice free Arctic. Nothingburger: Floods, droughts, hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, and other meteorological phenomena occurring within historical ranges.
-
How about a nothing unprecedented burger
-
One would think folks would be moving to a cooler climate if global warming was a concern. Example of a nothingburger: Hurricanes developing in “hurricane alley” during hurricane season. Global famine, collapse of the AMOC, polar bear extinction, death of the Great Barrier Reef, Maldives inundated, ice free Arctic…all of it was predicted to happen by now…none of it did. Global warming catastrophe is always right around the corner yet it never quite seems to get here.

Thanks for deleting the duplicate thread, sorry .

No Wendy, wrong as usual, bless your heart. Folks are flocking to the south in droves, heading to warmer climates in Texas and Florida and leaving Illinois and New York
-
How about nothingburger, global population is stabilized and on the verge of decline. Asia, Europe and the Americas are in demographic decline. Africa is the only continent with positive population growth. Thanks to global warming more water has been liberated from its icy prison and is now available to support global life.

“fascism and progressivism both share the same economic views and rhetoric, use a lot of the same views about the role and purpose of the government in society, same views on trade unionism, tend to prioritize the collective over the individual at the expense of their rights, and both trend towards authoritarianism and the absolute authority of the state to guide society” It would seem that Harris is more akin to Hitler than Trump. BTW I never thought that Trump had a chance during this election, however given that the Harris campaign is going into full “cope mode” I am having second thoughts.

Except you did, the internet doesn’t forget. While you were not as foolish as Olof who claimed EVs sales would have surpassed ICE vehicles by now , you did lay out a timeline of the transition to EVs. You even said that gasoline prices would drop as demand for gasoline plummeted in response to the EV transition.
-
Not me, BillV and Olof predicted a great EV transition, with ICE vehicles relegated to curiosities, when the opposite is true. Goalposts moved indeed.
-
Agreed, however BillV is conflating projections with “it’s already happening” About 50% say they won’t consider an EV and about half of EV owners go back to normal vehicles, half of a half is hardly mainstream, funny, considering the EV fanatics predict ICE vehicles would be niche.

Slowest start to Atlantic hurricane season…
brenthutch replied to brenthutch's topic in Speakers Corner
Strongest hurricane to hit at the evening of October 9 south of Tampa FL is hardly a record of note. To paraphrase Redskins legend, Joe Riggins, if a record takes more than three words, it’s not worth much. -

Biden is advised by climate scientists and parrots them. Clearly he is unable to form a cogent thought on his own. Michael Mann being one of them and he predicted thirty+ named storms. BTW science is not a democracy. “No amount of climate scientists can ever prove me right; a single observation can prove me wrong". This quote reflects the idea that a single experiment can disprove a theory, but no amount of success can prove it right.” To paraphrase AE -

20+% inflation over the last three years = 20+% increase in damages. No need for stronger storms. -

As I have posted on an earlier thread, Bidenflation alone will result in record breaking damages. (Measured in dollars not actual physical damage) Look at what President Biden said would happen vs what actually happened. -

They underestimated storm surge, loss of life and property, storm strength etc.. Why don’t you find some cherry picked data to show otherwise. -
Projected, expected, anticipated, predicted and estimated are not observations of what is actually happening. Reality can be a harsh mistress as VW found out. “Barely 18 months ago Volkswagen Group boss Oliver Blume bullishly announced the company would be spending $193 billion on software, battery factories, and other investments as it pushed to make one in every five models it sold worldwide an EV. But those plans are in tatters today,”

Cat2 hits hurricane alley near the peak of hurricane season and climate alarmists loose their minds. -
Ford, GM, Mercedes and Stellantis are dropping non-profitable lines, EVs are among those on the chopping block. I agree that EVs might find a niche in the urban areas or as a second runabout vehicle. But the great EV transition is not in the cards. (Sorry Olof and BillV)

https://www.motortrend.com/features/internal-combustion-engine-is-not-dead-feature-opinion/ Ford, for example, has stopped work on a three-row electric-powered SUV, a decision that will reportedly cost the company $1.9 billion. “We could not put together a vehicle that met our requirements to be profitable in the first 12 months of launch,” Ford Motor Company chief financial officer John Lawler said. Ford’s EV division, Model e, reported a $2.5 billion loss for the first half of this year and is expected to lose between $5 billion and $5.5 billion by year’s end. Meanwhile, Dodge execs are nervously eyeing data that shows, nine months after Dodge Charger and Challenger production ended to pave the way for the launch of their electric-powered successor, 78 percent of Charger owners and 64 percent of Challenger owners say they are simply not interested in buying an EV. This comes as Dodge parent company Stellantis reported a 40 percent slump in operating income for the first half of this year, with CEO Carlos Tavares warning: “We cannot afford to have brands that do not make money. If they don’t make money, we’ll shut them down.” Now a panicked auto industry is reaching for the e-brake. The internal combustion engine is firmly back on the agenda of product planners and corporate strategists as they plot a path beyond 2030. It look like reality has caught up with them, just as I said it would. Sorry Olof

It’s pretty twisted that you would hope for the deaths and destruction of millions just because of your petty hatred of one. -
