Steve, can you give me some insight on this? Do you know if it is true for Arizona City?? That is about the craziest, dumbest, assanine thing I have ever heard of, especially in the "Solar Rich" environment here... jeff D-16906

Accidents: Preventable or Inevitable, Faith of Fate?
ffejdraga replied to DustyP's topic in The Bonfire
Sucks man, sorry for your loss. I am not religious at all, not sure if i believe in a "higher power" or anything, but this is what I think. No one could have predicted that would have happened, but if you take it backwards from that moment, everything in their lives led to that, and more importantly everything in the Driver's life, led them to be in that exact place at that exact time. If any one detail had changed, they wouldn't have arrived at that instant, it would have been another instant, but through the course of their lives, there is no way to tell. You just live, go on about your life. But looking back even further, every person is who they are because of the instant of conception, and had that instant of conception changed, you would be a different person. So everything in your parents' lives led them to that exact specific moment you were conceived. And the same is true for your grandparents and theirs and so on back forever.... It is basically chaos theory, can't predict it, but you can follow the ripples backward.... It really turns my mind around, but that is what I beleive. Again, sorry for the loss and pain you feel. jeff D-16906 -
Yeah, Do keep working on it. I am a CFI (II +MEI also), and one of favorite things to do is share knowledge that I have. If any of you that are working your PPL, or any other ratings, for that matter, and you have questions you need help with, feel free to PM me here, or email to jeff_agard @hotmail.com . I am more than happy to share any info/knowledge/suggestions I have. Live the dream! Fly! jeff D-16906

Fixed wing is always going to be cheaper, and the jobs for fixed wing pilots seem to be more in demand than rotorcraft. 45k is about right though, and then you will still need about 500 hours before you get any type of workaside from flight instructing, and on the way it may be difficult for you to make more than 20k a year flying, at first. But once you clear the magic number hurdles, you will find that there are better jobs around. The forest service is good, and often needs pilots. It just means you would be fighting different kinds of fires good luck, and I say change careers. jeff D-16906

Mike, that is awesome man. Is that why I see you are selling your rig? Billy is the man, and you will have a great time learning from him, as you can already tell. Good times man, Enjoy every minute of it. good luck, jeff D-16906

I had been jumping for 6 years before I added flying to the mix. My instructor was the local jump pilot. We took of from the airport where the planes were based, and flew it over to the dz airport.(K0B5 to KORE) It was a Friday, so a handful of jumpers were around to jump. As we pulled up, my instructor jumps out and says , ok, you are on your own, 3 times around and come back. Off I went, did fine, loved it all, noticed the performance sans instructor, came back. As I was walking back form the plane, I noticed everyone smiling, standing at the fence. I was grinning from ear to ear. Suddenly I realized their grins hid evil, as a barrage of eggs came at me. Yep, instead of getting my shirttail cut, those motherfuckers egged me! It wasnt so bad, except for the one egg that hit me square in the ear, whipped at me by a former Marine. Despite all that it was a great day! jeff D-16906

Digital Stills Camera..which one?
ffejdraga replied to orribolollie's topic in Photography and Video
Or the D200 if you have the cash,... On my list....goddamn toys and advancements in technologies... jeff D-16906 -
If you are talking about Coolidge Arizona the drop zone, it is not open to fun jumpers. The folks that used to make Coolidge their home are now jumping at Desert Skydiving, Marana or Skydive Arizona™ I used to fly the 182 there, and work there doing AFF and tandem videos. It was a good place to work. Skydive Arizona, the place to be! That is where the fun is.... jeff D-16906

silly question...what can i send someone who lives in hawaii?
ffejdraga replied to windcatcher's topic in The Bonfire
Pineapples. jeff D-16906 -
I haven't started for that exact reason. I have most of the fixed wing stuff, only missing ATP, and I was talking with the local flight school, Quantum Helicopters here, and being a fixed wing pilot will not shave off that many hours for me, so to get to Rotocraft CFI will be about 50k. It is too rich for my blood at the moment, but I have been working on learning to hover with real helicopter controls and a proportionately reactive flying machine. I guess you could call it an "emulator" It is fun, and I figure it better to be hover proficient before I start the real training. I have about 3 hours in it, and I can hover pretty well. Best part is after the initial investment of a few hundred bucks, it is pretty much "free" heli training. Good times. VTOL is where it is at. jeff D-16906

No Jumping this past weekend but look what I got for Fathers Day!
ffejdraga replied to catfishhunter's topic in The Bonfire
Another cool thing is that it is the same day as my birthday! I like your son already.... Congrats on your new addition! jeff D-16906 edited for spelling -
Thanks! there were times when I wondered if that would happen. I fixed that by a combination of more brakes, and then aggressively using the rears to sort of stall out then get back in. It was a litle crazy of a canopy ride, and my arms were dead at the end of it all. But, all worth it. One of the best visuals for that trip was we were using an Otter and a 182 to haul everyone. 25 people, plus 2 vids. I got to be in the cessna, and we flew past the almost built thing a couple hundred feet above it. It was SO SWEET seeing that pass by under the airplane, and then to hop out and fly with it was excellent! Good times! jeff D-16906

Hey Walt, A couple of years ago, i did CRW video for the New England record, a 25way. I was also going up all weekend videoing 8 ways and whatever. I was jumping a xaos 21 120, loaded at 2.1. I had all the range I needed, although at first I definitely was riding brakes a lot. No front risers for me! You have to rememebr that if you are zoomed in, it will magnify all your head movements, so the real key is to move your head as minimally as possible. Also, key to have a good sight for it. That being said, I was shooting pretty close, because I wanted to get some more unique shots. I have attached 2 of them to show you. These were scanned from slides, and then way dumbed down so I could upload them. It was a 16mm full frame fisheye lens on a 35mm camrea. I was closer than it appears.

I had it done in Canada (Niagara Falls) about 5 years ago. It was $1000 USD for both eyes, total. No problems at all. I can see, and I haven't had any issues at all since. YMMV jeff D-16906

Yeah, head out to Jumptown, Orange Mass. JUMPTOWN Skydive pepperell is closer to you, but Jumptown is definitely worth the drive. They have a new building, and a good crew of freeflyers there. have fun, jeff D-16906

As usual, Iwan speaks the truth. It is a great lens for messing around and creting somewhat unique shots, but unless you are RIGHT near or DOCKED on something, the subject will be a speck in the frame. I wouldn't use it for a tandem that was a paying customer, too much distortion for that deal. Nonetheless, it is a fun lens to play with. jeff D-16906

I just got this issue...nice shot. Congrats! jeff D-16906

Awesome! I had it done about 5 or 6 years ago, it was great, and still is. Keep those drops handy, and after a time you wont need them that often. I still keep some around for that bit of dryness everyonce in a while. (although living in AZ probably has something to do with it.) Best thing ever! My night vision is so crisp and clear after having it done, no regrets at all. I have noticed the slightest bit of out of focus when I am super tired, both morning and night, but it not even that bad at all. Good choice, enjoy your freedom...start wearing sunglasses skydiving after a while, no more limited goggle selection or having contacts come out during skydives, trying to deal with landing with one eye...all over! be religious about those plastic eye covers for sleeping, and same goes with the drops for now. Enjoy! jeff D-16906

I'm coo coo for coco puffs..... Cereal Restaurant, WTF?
ffejdraga replied to Buried's topic in The Bonfire
I would say that it takes more effort to get a place like this, than it would to eat cereal in your home. Cereal is marked up high enough out of the box...I wonder how much they gouge ya here... jeff D-16906
