No, they will stay on the team. One of the powers that be gave a waiver to all MOS's on the GK so that they will stay within the recruiting command. However early on, there was some speculation on whether they would stay on the team or get pulled. I don't think you can go wrong with any of these containers. I've put over a 1000 jumps on a Odyssey and never had a problem. The Icon looks solid and I have several friends that love their Mirage. Howver I recently went to RWS to look at their M-Series and Micron and after a good tour, I was sold. From the risers to the BOC it is (in my mind) the best on the market. Some other containers that are really good, Infinity and Wings. Both are a little less expensive than the above containers but they are still rock solid. You can easily have an AAD put into your container by a master rigger or the manufacturer. If you're starting to feel that your current canopy is not doing all you want, and you want to downsize, order a container. By the time you get it, you'll probably be ready for that 190, if you're a good packer you could probably put a used 190 in a container for a 170. I completely agree with sdctlc a re-pack from Sunpath would be ideal for the first to get the gear inspected. After that, someone at you DZ. HOWEVER, I had a rigger who worked at Sunpath re-pack mine and it was an extremely sloppy job. I had another rigger repack it way before the cycle was due, just becuse it was that sloppy. How to get the demo, the best way is to go to your local PD dealer and have him/her request a demo. Or you can go to the PD website and go to Katana and request a demo. They do charge a fee. The Katana is similar to the Crossfire2 and the Nitron as far as the ability to dive on front risers. If you take things slowly and carefully you'll be ok on the Katana if you can fly a Stiletto. I wouldn't necessarily say that it will be more HP than the Crossfire2 (which is an incredible diving canopy), but it is closer to a Velocity (crossbrace) than the stiletto. IMHO, the stiletto was only HP as far as it's toggle turn rate, not a good diving canopy. http://www.performancedesigns.com/katana/testlogs.asp As far as a J1 and a 135 you'll be ok as long as your closing loop is tight. Anyways the Spandura is everything that Bill says it is. It is so much more durable than regular spandex. It also amazes me how much research they do on fabrics and webbing. Why would you mount it on the outside when there's a internal pocket?!! I also have lost a pro-track from the pimp-mindwarp. You might make hundreds of jumps and not loose it but why take that risk. The only people who currently make helmets with external mounts are skysystems and bonehead for the Havok. The skysystems helmets have recessed pockets to keep the riser strike off the dytters As far as your question about when to start with the camera, remember you now have a high risk of getting something tangled on your head. Last summer a cameraman with 3000 jumps had a line caught on his helmet and couldn't get free. I asked Chris Martin (from Precision) what the factory guys were loading for optimal performance and it was 2.2-2.3 on a Xaos27. When you go above that you're losing distance. If distance was completely based on speed, everybody on the PST would be jumping 3.0+. At the WR418, the guy was on a Velocity103 and he's not a very big guy. I feel that FF can also help people be better all-around fliers. I did the 50ish RW and then to FF, but now I really enjoy doing some formation RW. (especially when it's combat-RW...) The other advantage in keeping the RW skills up is hybrids. RELAX RELAX RELAX!! The more you "grab" at the air the faster you'll fall. Force yourself to breath which will help you relax. You can be mobile with the daffy or romeo (one leg in front and one in back) but you'll find you'll have better success later on flying a side by side. Work on you flexibility which will allow you to get biger in the air. Lastly have a experienced jumper video you on a jump, you'll be amazed the difference in what you think you're doing and what you're actually doing. At 160 lbs you should have NO problem slowing down even with a tight suit. Alot of it comes simply with jumps. Hope this helps D I just realized that you're in NC. definitely the Spectre 210 over the PD210. However if you're going to do the entire canopy progression again, you should be ok downsizing at least to a 190 if not 170. If your DZO is a PD dealer he should get you a 190 and 170 demo so you can try them both (in good conditions) Reading your incident report, the winds had more impact than the canopy. I think the best answer is to go ask your DZO, S&TA, or your instructor. No one on DZ.com knows your abilities (unless they're at your DZ). I was at a similar wing loading at the same jump number and had no problem but I took things extremely slowly (no low turns...) The Sabre2 is still a very docile canopy when loaded at 1.05. You will also have to look at your abilities and determine if you are HONESTLY ready to downsize. Be safe. Definitely get your rigger to check the lines. I have have seen PD make mistakes , they are only human. I have had another brand new canopy from a different manufacturer come in with lines that were an inch shorter on one side. In agreement with Aggie, I was at a DZ when the now 101st Div commander, Dave Petraeus, was coming in for landing, and the wind changed 90deg. He turned about 30 ft. above the ground and broke his pelvis on impact. A little drift is much better than broken things...
