The Factory Team Sits around 2.0-2.2 lb/ft2. I would put money that they feel that is the optimal loading for a Velocity. (considering they get to have any size they want that makes sense).
So why do you see people with 2.6, 2.7, 2.8? Is this purely for the speed factor? Do they admit that they are sacrificing distance? I guess not everyone's goal is distance. Is it generally accepted ~2.2 lb/ft2 is optimum for distance? What is optimum for speed then? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

I guess I am a bit confused. Two completely different statements have been made. A) it will get lighter as you get a smaller canopy, in general. B) canopy size has nothing to do with it. Which is it, preferably someone experienced? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

I think posting "TROLL!" is more an attempt to deflect the humor from destroying the "topicalness" of the entire forum. It's a veiled statement that in this board's case means, "keep that shit in talkback". --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

on a related topic, I have to ask to clarify this, do you mean flotation devices that you put around the person like a jacket, etc, to keep them afloat? Or do you mean something you can toss to the person if theyre sinking? I think the former would be kind of silly, as it would not be true simulation anymore, but just floating in a pond with gear on. If you want the latter, check out anyplace that supplies equipment for kayakers, they sell these neat little floating bags that have like 50+ feet of rope coiled in it, designed to throw the bag, and have the rope uncoil while in midair. They're great, you can also remove the floatation so it will sink and reach people underwater. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

usually in topical forums the definition of a troll is anyone that posts to provoke a response from the general reader base other than what is typical and desired by the moderators and/or owner of the board. In this case the poster, thought it would be timely to add some humor/off topic banter to the forum, and by doing so thus became a "troll". --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

Contacting USPA about canopy training/wingloading issues

just curious, on a related topic, whose sending letters urging USPA not to regulate wing loading? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm... -
speaking of BT, why not "never gonna come back down"? Great song with chorus, "never gonna come back down to ground". Yay. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

start off running every day when you wake up in the morning. Once you've built up to 2-3 miles a day, then start lifting weights 3-4 times a week. Throw in a couple days of swimming on offdays and lots of pushups/pullups and you'll be in shape within 3-4 months. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
as the manufacturer would be using their equipment to all of their design, testing & tweaking
Manufacturers don't test their gear in other "mainstreamed" containers or with "mainstreamed" BASE canopies? Can someone verify that statement? Thats pretty sloppy if its true... --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
Wouldn't getting a loan to buy skydiving gear be like getting a loan to feed your crack habit? I'm doing my best to pay for everything skydiving related in cash (I'm also jumping 5 year old gear that I'd prefer not to be jumping
Its common to buy sports gear on credit. People do it all the time, theres nothing shady or illegal about it at all. Now buying crack, that's a different story --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

normally what you use the loan for is a FACTOR on how high the percentage is, and of course the amount of the loan --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

hey I'm still a student, but I was kinda worried about this too. I was messing around on fronts on a huge ass 260 student canopy, loaded at ~.6, and I got upset/pissed that the fronts were so freaking hard to hold, life's a bitch. At least the fronts get easier to mess with from here on out. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 0: 0: 4 days and counting stuck in the house writhing in post-operative pain Darvocet sucks! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Agreed. I'm hating darvocet right now too. No jumps for me this weekend. It's only been 15 days since my surgery. Doc says i'm grounded til middle/end of July. But i'm stupidly thinking of doing a H&P on tuesday....
Go talk to your doc and tell him the darvocet is causing nausea and you'd like a different pain medication. He will most likely prescribe hydrocodone. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

fyi, I think with the current economy you can get a MUCH better loan than 9-11% that "total control" is offering. Loans in the neighborhood of 4-5 are not uncommon nowadays. Just look until you find a good loan, don't let the bank gouge 5 more % out of you. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
fly a sabre150 you might not want to get into swooping discussions either.
I'm not a very smart man, but I know that you don't need a small canopy to swoop. Its attitudes like this that promote downsizing before one really masters a canopy. Already after only 2 months in this sport, I have met up with this type of attitude. It's wrong! And detrimental to OUR sport! --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

This is an easy question for me, as I have just finished AFF a few days ago and am at that stage you're wondering about (and was I, what now? what next????? etc etc). My AFF I said the best thing to do is jump right in getting coached jumps, and make sure I have my A license in 20 jumps. It will force you not to learn any bad habits just goofing around on your own, and will progress you faster, further. This is all water under the bridge though, if youre doing AFF at a student friendly school they'll be more than willing and happy to help you get off student status. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

if you really get down just go to talkback and ask for ((((HUGS))))). I hear thats a big self confidence booster, otherwise, get up off your ass, get a mcdonalds coffee cup and stand on the corner asking for money. Yeeeeaah. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

to get this straight (I love thinking about this stuff ever since I first flew a canopy), the "rock point" comes directly after the "hook" or whatever maneuvuer you do to build speed, the "descent" timing the "rock point" to happen as you are 1-3 feet off the ground. Correct? I hope that doesn't read as blabbering. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

right, has anyone done this? What is their experience with the extra reinforcements effecting deployment? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

I've never heard this said before, and maybe for good reason. Is it good to dearch when youre ready to pull, A) you're slower, B) Somewhat more stable, in a spread body position. Is this wrong? I think this would appeal to pulling, less speed would make for softer opening, stability would cut down on mals. What am I missing? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

First time landing in a church parking lot? beer? Seriously, congrats, my first offlanding (jump 4!!!) was crazy like that, its a blur, everything just goes so fast, I wished there was a freeze frame so I could stop and examine the situation --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

can the multi bridle attachment be removed and installed easily? Or is it a big hassle, what I mean is, when youre jumping things where object strike isnt an issue really, and an offheading would not be that bad, like a span, could you install the multi, and then if youre doing something where offheading is a real threat, take it off? I hope my question is clear --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
