More 550 ex Flash setting questions
linestretch replied to freefalle's topic in Photography and Video
I have a 10D, and have had mixed results. The close ups are sweet, but the bigger shots just aren't standing out. But here's a sample of one with and one without the flash, probably within a second of each other. These were on TV, at about 350, and probably 100ASA. Pretty significant. my pics & stuff! -
Ok, here it goes. First of all, all the tools the above post said, plus a glue gun is nice. The camera jack is a stereo plug that fits the camera (not all will work, this one has 3 separate connections, look closely at the pic), I'm sure the ones with just 2 connections will trigger the fire on the camera as soon as it's plugged in and on...(found out the hard way on this one). I highly recommend that you take your camera with you to radio shack (or where ever), put the jack in your camera and turn that camera on. If the camera starts shooting, then that jack will not work...make sense? Got the switch from radio shack, but don't know the part #, but one of the pics shows the size and how it looks. They are under 5 bucks. It WILL have 3 prongs, it's black, and the lever is thin stainless. I broke off about 1/8" of the end of stainless lever, it was a little sharp, and sticks out a little far. Solder the wires to the switch so that when you depress the switch, the camera will focus and fire, or just fire in manuel focus. You will only use 2 of the prongs on the switch, I think the farthest one from the hinge of the switch is useless for this application. On my switch, I cut off part of a finger on a letex glove and hot glued it to the switch. The glue gives a good biting surface, and sorta molds to you teeth, and the glove keeps the slobber outa the switch. The rubber dries up after a while, and you need to redo it, or just not use it, but the switch will start to stick. Also used the glue gun on the stereo jack for inulation, better than a wad of electrical tape. But this has been working for me. I also found that you need to keep your mouth shut unless you don't mind drool on your lens. Just bite on it and push with your tongue, it's pretty damn easy to make, and friggin CHEAP!!! Hope that helps. my pics & stuff!

how about this... my pics & stuff!

Then maybe look for somone on your DZ that has made them, and have them make you one...still for cheaper...unless you just have money to burn. Being skydiving is my only income, I don't. my pics & stuff!

35 bucks? Make one for MUCH MUCH cheaper! My tongue switch is on it's second season...same one. my pics & stuff!

first of all, what sorta of tandem rig are you jumping? A line over on the reserve......yikes! I've been jumping without the RSL for about the last 1,000 tandems, and have had 2 chops without them. BUT......they weren't violent mals. I'm still not sure how I feel about it totally. my pics & stuff!

have always double stowed. If they are big rubber bands, no problem. my pics & stuff!

In theory, the rapide link and the metal ring make for a good pinch point where your canopy can get snagged and you'll get small little tears. I've been doing this for a while, and haven't had the little nips in the center cell where you'll usually see them. my pics & stuff!

same here, but had to do both the top skin that was taped, and the bottom skin that was touching the taped hole when packed up. It basically ate an area of fabric the same exact size of the tape patch. my pics & stuff!

I've visited his place several times, and will only go there if I can't find it anywhere else. I can tell you he will discriminate! If you are NOT your average white male, then DO NOT go there. That goes for women too, unless you just like to deal that sorta of stupidity. He's about as redneck as it gets. All the stories above are pretty much what I've heard, and I jump with a lot of folk that have known him for YEARS. Good luck. my pics & stuff!

shweet! how about this for outside vid on the ground? ...he he he, I'm the lucky fuck that was attached to her....gotta love strippers. my pics & stuff!
-
dude, that ROCKS!!! Tough to get that shit with outside vid. my pics & stuff!

They had some bigguns in Guam as well. Woke up to this big one in the living room, and the other one was outside. my pics & stuff!
-
You tell them when training them the consequences of NOT listening and NOT arching. That their video is greatly effected by how much they do what they are told to do.....and that anything can happen. Now, try doing that with a student that speaks zero english.....good times! Once you are past the exit and in drogue fall.....it's a lot easier. my pics & stuff!

Tandem video, tell me what U think

sweet smooth exit shot. Maybe try some flying around them in freefall instead of parking in front. And speak english too....he he he my pics & stuff! -
Here's a handy I did a few weeks ago. Yeah, it's not outside video, but you do get some good shit that outside doesn't get. Obviously there are pro's and cons. I'm for both and see no reason to bash others for doing what they want. my pics & stuff!

love the cleavage! Here's a multiple exposure and a flash landing. my pics & stuff!
