I appreciate your comments, perhaps the bill which I have not read, is terrible. Obviously several people here feel passionately that this is bad. I respect there right to have that thought. Of course the male can avoid the issue by not being so drunk, or to not be with a women that is so drunk as to cause a problem. Perhaps that is to much to do. Perhaps it's unfair to the male. Hence my recent change of views about gun laws. Fact is the police have every right to be afraid. John, being a cop in England (?) had to worry for the most part about getting his ass kicked - hell I bet he didn't weigh 130!! He didn't generally have to worry about the thugs being armed. Having the right to a weapon is that - a right but w that right comes a responsibility. I've come to believe that we have let the right triumph the responsibility. Ultimately we have to find a way to lower the amount of guns in the wrong hands. Strict laws that put people in jail for a long time when they use a gun may work (?) I believe that when a young man picks up a dead drunk women at a party, who is seen by others to be dead drunk, he damn sure better be careful about what happens. It's a sad state of affairs when we have to pass a law that basically says don't be a damn animal. Basically the law says that, you must have a "yes" verbal to have sex with someone, that the lack of a "no" was not a yes. Preventing drunk females (normally) from basically getting raped while drunk because they didn't say "no" (basically they said nothing) I know I'm old....but in my day a guy that took advantage of a drunk female wasn't proud of it and was looked down on by people in my frat. Did it happen, I bet it did.....but now a days it sure seems like the stigma is gone. Hate that we have to pass laws for decent behavior. Really. Tell you what, google Sharpton and Jackson. They show up at every shooting that makes national news. Show me the out reach programs they have put into place to help with this terrible problem. Let's google black on black murder rate and then let's look at the Sunday morning talk shows to see how often this is the main topic. I don't have a solution and any death by shooting is terrible but to me this is an issue that is being largely ignored because it is politically incorrect to even discuss it. THIS. B-U-T both ways. The cops feel super threaten, the black citizens and some whites feel the same. The last year my feelings about guns in America have changed. I HAVEN'T fully decided my "new" position but mostly it would boil down to harsh, harsh penalties - enforced - for people that have guns that haven't gone through the process of getting a permit. This sure has fallen out of the news. With the officer speaking to the grand jury I thought some details would have leaked out by now as to his testimony. Either there is evidence (strong - very, very, VERY strong) that has not been made public or he screwed up soooo bad testifying. Of course if the local grand jury let's him off one side will claim good ol boy net work, one will claim it was correct. Did a fast search, sure looks like the UK police are getting slaughtered. 71 were shot dead 24 were stab to death (These were the police officers trying to stop someone from breaking the law) Of course these numbers were from April 4th 1900 to Sept 22 2013. I don't believe that they don't have physically aggressive young men, but the numbers support that they don't shot near as many.
