  1. Hmmm...interesting graph. Now how about a graph of projected medicare and medicaid costs over the next few years under the current health care system to go along with it? CBO projections are readily available for you to produce such a graph...
  2. It's starting to warm up over here. If you send some of that cold this way in a couple of weeks we'll take it! Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  3. And you support government managers spending extra time dealing with government workers' unions vice doing their jobs...why, exactly? How about the Left showing some real respect for workers' rights and pushing for laws that would make it easier for workers to disestablish unions in existing shops and actually support the rights of workers NOT to join unions. They won't do so, because they only suppor the rights of workers to do things amenable to the left, such as give portions of their salaries to unions, who will in turn give that money to left leaning candidates, regardless of the will of those whose money is being taken. 4. And you think this is bad - why, exactly? Please explain why you think the Federal and not state and local governments should be the leader here. He cut the NSF in the '06 budget, which I didn't like. He also proposed several education programs be eliminated that had shown to be ineffective, with leftists screaming to high heaven about his doing so. Cutting programs that don't work is a good thing. Those decrying such have no credibility when discussing the federal budget. 5. Where did you read the bit about Mr. Cheney mentioning the new Congress? I didn't read that on Fox or CNN. I'm glad Mr. Mixon is in custody and hope suffers greatly. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

  7. I most definitely do. I think the status of education in this country is abominable, and that we as a nation need to make it a national priority. Sadly, neither party has the political drive to do so, so it seems. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  8. Anti union rant? One wonders what post you were reading, but as always, you're good for quite the chuckle. One would assume that union workers do better in union shops because union workers do not work in non-union shops, but assume whatever you like. Quite curious as to what data you're referring. Toyota workers are doing quite better than GM workers right now, still having jobs and the like. 'Working families' - to whom, exactly is this referring? As I stated earlier, there are very few Americans who don't actually work. I tend to laugh at such tools of class envy. I wonder which economy you're seeing, stating 'as bad as they are now,' because the American economy is doing quite well. if you can't see why the Senate is the more rational of the two chambers of the Legislative branch, reread the Constitution for a bit and focus on Article 1, sections two and three. Read them a few times and it should come to you. You might check out the seventeenth ammendment as well, which makes the Senate a bit less rational than the Founding Fathers' original intent. Madison's remarks in some of his writings are quite eloquent on the matter. Odd you would think raising the minimum wage is pro-worker. Few workers earn the minimum wage who are working a full time job and raising it does nothing but increase prices in the long run. I'll go anywhere and state that few people in America don't actually work. Will you go into rural Appalachia and tell a coal miner you support racially discriminatory programs that give sons and daughters of lawyers and doctors advantages over his children when applying for college or federal employment? Both are statements of fact, unless I'm mistaken and you don't support race based affirmative action. If you'd examined the ergonomics bill, you would have realized it was flawed. The notion that killing such a bill without examining its merits is preposterous in its own right. The bill in your original post is quite humorous when viewed with regards to workers' rights. If the leftists would like it easier to FORM a union in the workplace, then they should also support the rights of workers in unionized workplaces who no longer desire a union to vote the union out in an easier manner than is in place today. Make it easier for both sides and see how the unions fare. I don't think they'd fare very well. The left, as usual, supports the rights of those who agree with them to act in ways that the left desires. Anyone else's rights are to be trampled without regard, in their view. If you think management overpaid then by all means think that. In some cases, perhaps, they might be. That's not something for the government to regulate. There are reasons there are so few people from former communist nations pushing the socialist/anti-globalization/pro-union position. They've seen that it doesn't work and want no part of it. 9. This thread is pretty funny. Some people really need to learn the basics of economics. Employee Free Choice Act - I seriously doubt any of its supporters support the right of an employee to choose NOT to join a union. Actually, it's probably not in doubt at all, given that the anti-choice party is sponosoring it...pro-choice - as long as you make the choices they desire. LMFAO. The bill in question has little chance at making it to the President's desk. Even in its flawed form, the Senate is the more rational of the two chambers. The leftists made their point in the house with this nonsense and the senate will kill it. Funny how those touting worker's rights never seem to get it through their skulls that there are few Americans who don't actually work. Management works - and long hours at that. Yet 'working Americans' is constantly used to describe the low-middle class. As if the rest of us DON'T work. Most insulting, but right leaning folks should be used to being insulted by leftists. They even call us racists for refusing to support racial discrimination. Nice class envy tool though, that 'working Americans' bit. When a party is utterly devoid of ideas, such things tend to help sustain it. As the world flattens more and more, Unions will become a thing of the past, I do believe. Lifetime employment at a single company is going to become a much rarer thing than it already is. Companies can't guarantee a worker a job for life, though they can feasibly guarantee to keep the employee employable, I think. Unions are incompatible with that, as an employee going elsewhere is one less person they can force to pay them and less $$ they can give to the Democratic Party. One major thing I would like to see happen with unions is that the Beck decision actually be enforced. That way the unions would be unable to take dues and give them to political causes its members don't agree with as easily as they do now. Forcing people to join an organization if they don't want to just to get a job is despicable, but taking their money and spending it on causes they don't support is even more so. I'd LOVE to see the Beck decision actually enforced. Haven't been posting much. Working my ass off and just got internet up at home (it goes down often, apparently). Rehmwa - good points as always.
