Oh, he's aware. He just enjoys tequila immensely, but not often. Josh is about 10 x as smart as Vinny, but forgets that tequila is powerful on occasion. Especially when I down a wee bit of it while he's kicking my ass at Madden '06. I'm calling it quits after this glass. Want to enjoy the game tomorrow. He's probably going to make me run again before we go anyway. I'm cutting back these days and just don't enjoy it as much anymore for some odd reason.

I'm in Fort Bragg visiting my brother and his wife. THey've retired for the evening...a wee bit too much tequila I do believe... My brother and I are having a blast. We went shooting today...and running...and tomorrow we're going to the football game. He doesn't hold tequila well, but can run me into the ground, outshoot me, and is way smarter than me to boot. I merely drink well. Though I DID shoot better than him for a couple of rounds today. That's probably because I hurled after five miles or so and Josh kept going for a few more miles. He's the Roadruner or something. I keep telling him to drink beer and not tequila, but NOOOO...he wants to be hospitable and drink tequila with his older brother. I'm going to have another glass of Patron... Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

You really should examine the budget sometime. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!! -
Yep! What are you looking at? Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

If I had to end one, I would say the war on drugs would be the one I would end first. Prohibition did not work. Period. Legalization would be easier on the budget, easier on law enforcement, and make a lot of people very happy. I'm all for it. I am very sensitive and would be greatly offended by being called most anything. My sensitivity has caused me to drink tequila en masse for years. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

Dude - nice graph. Not even 3/4 of us vote. Really sad. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

I agree - it is most infuriating. I think the reasons are many. The average American doesn't read as well as what you and I would expect of a high school graduate. Given that, how can we expect the average American to truly follow and comprehend the political issues of the day? Check out USA Today as compared to a foreign newspaper or the WSJ, or check out Newsweek or Time as compared with The Economist. Night and day - or preschool and college. USA Today is the most popular newspaper in the US, I do believe. Apathy is another reason - as you stated. It's almost depressing for the educated to go to the polls sometimes and look at their choices. The local elections that have the potential to more directly affect their lives don't tend to get as much attention in the media as the national elections, so apathy for the national level might keep some people away from the polls. Poll location could be another choice - the library. Many people couldn't tell you where their local library is located. Now if they would require liquor store owners to allow voting booths to be placed there, I'm quite certain a higher turnout would occur. I think anybody who wanted to vote could find out, though. It is infuriating that we rarely have high voter turnouts. Truly sad. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

My brother is enroute to pick me up. He has today and tomorrow off and we're going to the GT-UNC game on Saturday. I suspect Chapel Hill has absolutely no idea what it's in for. Sunday Monday Happy Days, Tuesday Wednesday Happy Days Thursday Friday JACKASS Days! Saturday - Tequila Day...groovin' all week whoohoooo! I haven't had Spam in a long time...not sure how my body would handle it now...I wonder if you soaked the spam in cheap and worthless tequila if it would actually taste better? Deep thoughts... Not much, really. Neither side has a really big majority, so I doubt the legislative branch would ever garner the 2/3 majority required to over-ride a GWB veto. The Legislative branch controls the purse strings, so OMB will have a tougher time getting the budget it submits through Congress in its roughly original form. The Senate approves all of the President's judicial appointees and cabinet level appointees, so I'd say the character of the confirmation process is about to change a bit, though the process itself will remain the same. The Dems made such fools of themselves during the last SCOTUS and appellate court confirmation hearings I doubt the process could get any worse, though perhaps I underestimate the ability of politicians to much things up. The Executive Branch directs foreign policy and the Legislative funds the executive branch to execute it, so I'm not really sure how the Dem controlled congress expects to change the direction in Iraq or by what mechanism they believe they'll accomplish it. They have no control over tactics or the DoState other than funding it. The legislative process moves far too slowly for them to direct Foreign Policy directly, so I question anyone who thinks the Congress under new leadership will change the course of either the war or US foreign policy. Hearings by the foreign affairs committees can only accomplish so much. I think the biggest thing the Congressional leadership change will bring is to the budget process. But that's just me. Anybody else disagree?

One can't do worse at ANYTHING than the last Congress. Absolutey horrible preformace by the Legislative branch in almost all regards. Hmmm...perhaps ALL regards...I'll have to think hard to find something that Congress did that impressed me. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

There WAS some good news for Republicans yesterday
TheAnvil replied to TheAnvil's topic in Speakers Corner
MCRI passed in Michigan...racial discrimination by the state has become illegal, despite the best efforts of many leftists! Whoohoooo! Now if only the rest of the nation would follow the lead of MI and CA... Also, several states voted to curb eminent domain abuses...very nice...again, I hope the rest of the nation follows suit. Oh well. Truth be told, racial discrimination for collegiate admission or employment doesn't really affect too many people, but it is quite infuriating when it does occur. Kudos for MI for making it unconstitutional. -
Welcome back. Stay a while. Enjoy your dancing. I've a sniffle or I'd drown my sorrows. Thank God for the power of the veto... Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

This is true. I'll bet some short hating people even drink tequila or tequila enhanced beverages whilst watching the NBA, a known bastion of anti-short hatred and bigotry. It probably is a wash. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

You're lucky...if we did see eye to eye, you'd be much shorter. All spending is discretionary from a certain point of view. From a budgetary lingo point of view at the federal level, non-discretionary spending refers to spending that is required by law prior to the formulation of the budget, ie interest on the debt, medicare, SS, medicaid, federal employeee retirements, etc. One could state that such spending IS discretionary because Congress could repeal the legislation requiring the majority of it, but that would never occur in all likelihood. If you check out CBO's website they break down spending into discretionary and mandatory. Bill and I are both correct, depending on how you're looking at things. I'm such a JACKASS though. Everyone should probably consider me wrong for that reason alone. Throw in the fact that I'm short and the majority of Americans hate short people, and I think the point made. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

The majority of spending is non-discretionary, which is why mandatory spending reform & reduction is so critical. Spending causes deficits - not tax cuts. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
-
Both you and Lucky should do a bit of homework on the national debt and how it works. Might I suggest CBO's website? The reason we have record debt is out of control discretionary spending coupled with unsustainable mandatory spending. Tax cuts do not cause debt. Spending more than you have causes debt. Tax revenues rise and fall based upon the economy, which can be tweaked by adjusting the taxes on those who pay them - among other things. Taxes were cut, the economy recovered, and now we have record tax revenues. Those who state 'Bush's tax cuts caused the deficit' have no credibility. Not unexpected, truth be told, yet still a sorry thing to see. I wonder if Speaker Pelosi will do as she stated she would during her first 100 hours. Something tells me no, and that the left media won't hold her to it. But that's just a guess. Hopefully someone reminds her that we've had record tax revenues since GWB's tax cuts have been enacted. Many leftists seem to develop amnesia when asked to recall this. I'm hoping the right maintains control of the Senate. We shall see - it's looking like that will be the case. Truth be told, either party will increase spending and tick me off. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
