I didn't say that lefties were stupid or uneducated. Clinton - whose politics I despise - was a brilliant man in several respects and quite educated. So are several other lefties - Laurent Tribe for example. I stated that an educated populace would be the downfall of the democratic party. I stand by that statement. See my response to BillVon. I like her books and her columns very much. On occasion one has to wade through the venom, but she does make some excellent points. Her extensive research on the Verona Project could have been made into a history text as easily as she made it into a political book. 'Tis this big spending increase that has all true conservatives pissed off at the Republican House and Senate - and the President as well. It WILL be interesting to see what happens in the long run. I agree with Kallend that we Libertarians should get our act together. Now is the perfect time. I DISAGREE Bill, that fear is the primary tool used by Republicans to motivate the populace to support their causes these days. Yes, I'm pissed about several provisions of the Patriot Act, but that was passed with both lefties and right wingers voting in favor of it if memory serves. I'm also really pissed off about this medical bill, the structure of the Energy bill, and am still quite ticked off at the second tax cut. I don't think fear was used as an political tool in either of those, however. Meltdown - no need for a new party. Become a hypocritical libertarian like me. They have a brewery there that wasn't bad at all. There is a bar called The Hobbit that has all you can eat ribs and a damned good selection of beers and whiskey. Highly recommended. Just walking around the town is great fun. I took the little boat tour around the canal and thought it worth the $$. Don't forget to taste the chocolates. Yeah fellas. When you have been so openly contemptuous of the military for so long, visiting deployed units on Turkey Day reeks of low class. Can she effectively perform her duties as a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee given her history? Absolutely. Should she visit deployed units in that role? Absolutely. On Turkey Day given her current (and recent) history of contempt for military service AND when it will get publicity - hell fucking no. I was planning on putting the ice cream into the root beer and calling that a float...... Hmm.....there must be some devious test we can concoct to see if root beer really will float.....I'm highly confident that a 2 liter or can dropped from altitude would not float...however, if we threw a two liter into Monterey Bay and told a drunken Sebazz that it was really tequila and that we were currently out of booze, that might make for some cheap entertainment watching him jump in after it...
