  1. A woman is pulled over by a State Policeman: State Policeman: May I see your license and registration please, ma'am? Chick: I'd wager you need those to sell me a ticket to the State Policeman's Ball, right? State Policeman: State Policemen don't have balls ma'am. Chick smiles sweetly. State Policeman gets in car and drives off. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

  3. I am sorry you feel this way. Some folks take stuff here too seriously. I argue all the time with BillVon, Justin, SkyDekker, Wendy, and several other folks on here but I don't dislike any of them and respect them all - especially BillV. (yes, Bill, you are probably my favorite poster on here dammit; your Occidental question stumped me and my friend who deals in gov't contracting is supposed to answer a question on that for me tomorrow - non sequitur here). Even ones that call me an asshole and accuse me of needing Ann Coulter books and FoxNews to become sexually aroused - you know who you are. Anyone who takes stuff on here too seriously should take a few deep breaths. You're a sweet person in person - you know what I mean - and if anyone said anything bad, I'm sure they didn't mean it in a malicious way. At least I hope they didn't. I'd be extremely disappointed if they did. Keep in touch and think about coming back. Vinny the Anvil PS: I will demand no more belly-rubs of you.

  11. I've never been to Spain, but want to go there. I've always wanted to get a haircut in Seville and take a pleasant jog in Pamplona during the San Fermin festivities. I'd check Lonely Planet's recommendations and definitely head up to Andorra for some skiing. One thing I would DEFINITELY do is make a copy or two of your passport and keep them both separate from your actual one. Leave one with a reliable friend or family member here in the US too - that makes replacement easier. Traveller's Checks have saved me once or twice. I don't think you need any special immunizations to go into Spain. Blah blah blah. I'm jealous. Have fun. Good Reads

Both of these should have democrats everywhere throwing temper tantrums. I've always been a fan of partial privatization of SS, as long as some sort of safety net remains. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/GuestColumns/Ferrara20031201.shtml http://www.townhall.com/columnists/jackkemp/jk20031201.shtml I'm an unusually happy little Anvil this morning for some odd reason. 16. Good stuff Clint - looks like you've got a good thing going with even more stuff in the works. I'll definitely be passing through there in March and will see for myself. I'm sold on a day or two there. Perhaps a personal viewing will change my top 5 list around, but dude, it will take something. Kapowsin isn't even my home DZ (that would be Hollister) and I give it #1 by a long shot. Jumping next to Ranier is AWESOME. We shall see....look forward to meeting you in a few months. Hope Moab DOES move into the #1 slot because it's always cool to see something that kickass; it's gotta earn it though. Can you go rapelling down the canyon walls? 17. The no-bid contract awarded Halliburton for the LOGCAP deal in the Balkans was outside the normal bidding process. Did that have something to do with the close Clinton-Cheney relationship or because Halliburton was the corporation best suited/situated for the job? Like Presidents, Governors normally don't have a role in the awarding of contracts - it's career civil servants that do such things. When the hell did Occidental Petroleum come into this? Do you really want me to compare and contrast the two? I think that Hammer dude from Occidental once said something about Gore or his Dad - I forget which one - being in his pocket or something. I'd honestly have to look up some stuff on Occidental. All I remember is Gore getting some cash from leasing some mineral rights or something of the sort. I don't recall that being a major point in 2000 or '96, but I could just be drawing a blank. I do advocate such viewings. Knowing a few folks over in Iraq right now, I can state unequivocally that what I've seen in the news over here really doesn't reflect what's in the mail I'm receiving. Lot's of good going on over there and not a lot of reporting on that. The last bomb dropped that incurred civilian casualties was when, exactly? GT is not a good school? How dare you insult my alma mater? Insulting the Jackets. Weak Bill....very very weak...and so soon after our thumping by UGA... GO JACKETS!!!!!!! Because we know about adoption and birth control methods and have seen said pictures, sonograms, the nice new so-called 4D sonograms, and many of us are quite religious. Not my plan, but I don't want the UN running things at this point, nonetheless. The Iraq centered foreign policy the Administration pursued is not one I would have chosen myself, given my knowledge of the situation as it progressed from 2000. We're there now - and I believe we're more or less taking the right path now that we're there. The terrorists WANT the US out and the appeasement party is doing exactly what they desire. OK. I'll buy part of that. I too adhere to the theory that many of today's problems were created by US (and Soviet) actions during the Cold War. Support the US, we'll give you $$, be a dictator/royal SOB but support us, you get US $$. Look at how US/Soviet machinations screwed up many sections of Africa. Disgusting. Now the world is left to deal with the mess. Now damning Reagan's foreign policy for that...I disagree. You're old enough to remember the Iranian hostage crisis AND the Cold War. Hindsight is bliss, Bill. I hope we did learn our lesson from doing that. Quotes are bugging me. You present two articles. Nice. Neither changes my mind. Back to quotes. Folks with the opposite political view have not been hired because of those views - they instead work at think tanks. That's because the Massachussetts Institute of Trucking is located in the state that elected Ted Kennedy! OK, that was low. Sorry. Damned good engineers and scientists come from there, I admit it. Agreed, but not to the extent of the opposing party. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

  20. Nice pix dude, but this view ranks #2 in TheAnvil's humble opinion - from the pix at least. I haven't jumped all that many places though. Anvil's Top Five DZ View List: 1. Kapowsin, WA 2. Moab, UT (never been, but plan to) 3. Monterey, CA 4. Elsinore, CA 5. Titusville, FL (I'm a space geek and like all the launchpads/NASA stuff you can see there; if I weren't a space geek Hollister, CA or Snohomish, WA would occupy this slot) Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  21. I can think of no other place where Whig, Halliburton, oil mapping, coal power plants, and United Nations all come into play logically. Dropzone.com is truly an open and interesting forum. How is this a political bribe? If Jack Welch ran for Governor, should he give up his retirement check and that state never buy anything from GE? If any retiree from any company goes into public office, should they give up their pension? Are all retirees with pensions ineligible for public service? Absolutely not. I believe most people holding office actually have all of their investments in some sort of blind trust, truth be told. I know a bit about the government contracting process. POM, PPBE, ADM, CPP, CPD, MNS, MAA, AoA, LRIP, FRP, IOT&E, and the entire alphabet/jargon soup of it are quite familiar to me. So do the folks trying to smear Cheney with this Halliburton garbage. They know better. The people cutting the contracts are not appointees - they are career civil servants for the most part. This Halliburton smear is a ridiculous exploitation of public ignorance. Nothing more. And how is that relevant here? The company was contracted for LOGCAP under the Clinton administration! Did Cheney campaign for Clinton/Gore? Or is this some sort of admission that the relaxed technology transfer restrictions under the Clintonista Administration WERE due to the excessive campaign contributions made by Johnny Huang on behalf of the Chinese government? If so I'd agree with you on that point, but think it misplaced in this discussion.
  22. Religious based? I think not. My own opinion on the issue is complex and pisses off pretty much everyone - liberals, conservatives, and my fellow Catholics. I base my opposition to early abortions (early referring to time elapsed in pregnancy) on faith. I base my opposition to mid and late term abortions of any sort on fact. Because of the above, I do not believe in outlawing abortions early in the pregnancy because that would be imposing my faith upon others. I DO believe in legally limiting abortions after a certain (very very subjective) point to only cases in which the health of either the mother or a twin/triplet/quadruplet/you-get-the-idea-et is in danger. I also disagree that the description itself of any medical procedure is disgusting in nature. If you support an issue you should be able to describe it to those who disagree with you. You don't have to go into every gory detail - just a basic description would do. A video - even better. I've read and seen the procedure and will happily show it or describe it and defend my views. Democrats cannot say the same - a generalization, but I believe a valid one. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  23. Perhaps I misread then, but I was under the assumption that the Hippocratic Oath always applied and the health of the mother would always take precedence. I still maintain that were the average Joe to see the procedure or have it described in detail, this would not be a rallying issue for the left. Period. 24. Kallend and PhillyKev - two of my favorite denizens of the forums. Kallend - I think you misinterpreted my post. I was referring to the diversity mantra continuously espoused by those who care what race another person is or about the racial breakdown of this or that segment of a society or workforce as compared to the diversity of political beliefs found in university faculties today. Horowitz has written some interesting articles on the subject - I believe Cal Thomas and Larry Elder might have done so as well. PhillyKev - I agree. THat's NOT how the left motivates their base, hence my previous statements. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  25. The slant you present is one of many taken by the left - and not the most prevalent one by a long shot. Look at Waxman's comment the day after - that's indicative of the slant presented most often. Mr. Lay's advice on energy matters was also sought by Mr. Bush's predecessor, if you'll recall. Or do you think the 14 times he overnighted in the Lincoln Bedroom during the Clinton Administration were purely social in nature? Gimme a break. I'd have been worried had Lay's counsel - or more knowledgeable Enron personnel - NOT been sought when formulating an energy policy. At the time the company was one of the most heralded in the nation as far as energy companies go. If you can show criminal activity based upon the energy bill itself - by all means do so. As far as Enron being part of its formulation, if the environmental groups invited had shown up to the table, perhaps they would know what went on. To understand why I laugh at lefties when this issue comes up, review the # 14 mentioned above, Landmark Legal vs EPA (the FOIA case), or the Republican request for the records of meetings used in the formulation of Hillary's 'let's socialize medicine for the children' plan. Dunno the exact details, but I suspect as such given the norm for CEO retirement packages as I see them. That's a drain on company share-holders - not tax-payers. If you want to see a REAL scam check out Jack Welch's retirement package from GE. I don't like such things as they're an eternal drain on shareholders and don't do a damned thing for the company. If Cheney gets paid even if Halliburton goes under, why would the awarding of contracts to said company affect him in any way? Your argument as presented implodes upon itself. Though not common, no-bid contracts are not exactly uncommon either. Especially with regards to companies such as Halliburton, Bechtel, and Brown and Root, who have extensive experience with such things. Read up a bit on government contracting and how it's carried out. See my Balkans example I presented previously. I stand by my statement - the left relies on public ignorance for this tactic to have any effect. My condolences to your friends - their situation would not have been affected by the ban as I read it. The procedure would still have been allowed for reasons such as your friends' or the health of the mother - both rare indeed, thank God. I stand by my statement - were the average Joe to see the procedure, it would NOT be a rallying point for the left. Period. I remain baffled by our CINC's Iraqi-centric foreign policy. Like you said, we're there now. Other than from the right, nobody seems to have a feasible plan to deal with the situation. UN troops? Gimme a break - only a MORON would believe such garbage. Public ignorance exploited once more. I disagree because you can't start production overnight. By beginning exploration now you set a foundation so we won't have to rush exploration in the future, ie. do it now safer and cheaper. The tactic used by the left on this issue was the 'ruin Alaskan wilderness', 'Exxon Valdez', 'squander our natural treasures' garbage. Did the caribou population increase or decrease after the pipeline was built? Oh - that's irrelevant. Public ignorance exploited once again. I stand by my statement. They would therefore remember the Iranian hostage crisis, the Cold War, the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, and the old bipolar geopolitical environment as well, and more than likely understand the reasons behind the foreign policy initiatives you just mentioned.
