I don't have a problem with tough questions, as long as they are germane to determining a nominee's fitness to hold a cabinet position. Boxer was doing little other than repeating DNC talking points RE the Bush Administrations policies on Iraq and trying to berate Dr. Rice. Apparently being NSA for four years, holding a PhD in political science, and fluency in Russian doesn't quite qualify one to be SecState in Kerry & Boxer's opinion. One wonders what their ideal SecState would be able to do and what qualifications they might have. Perhaps having represented the Chinese government as Sandy Berger did. Or be able to balance a broomstick with a grand piano atop it on their nose whilst riding a unicycle, patting their head, rubbing their stomach, and humming O Tannenbaum perhaps? I'm Christian and don't agree with what most of my fellow Christians think of drugs. I've never used illegal drugs and don't plan to, by the way. Anyway, Christ said that it's what comes out of you and not what goes into you that makes you evil or good. Most Christians use that quote as the basis for being able to consume pork, yet many refuse to condone consuming alcohol or drugs. Quite odd that those doing so know the mind of Christ. I never implied that the two were complementary in any way. And you're correct - Carter was a brilliant man in many regards. Political theory at the national level was not one of them.

Contrary to popular belief, GWB is not a complete and utter moron. His answer to that inane mistakes question was a great move from a political standpoint. Any other answer would have opened him up to a slew of attacks and made the rest of the campaign centered about whatever mistakes he might have chosen to state. One can form a strong and extremely tenable position that the reason for the increasing frequency of terrorist attacks is the upcoming election - and fear of its implications/consequences on the insurgent movement. An insurgency can only be maintained with the support of the populace. Every Iraqi that the insurgents kill weakens them. Mixed feelings from me about these elections. I hope they happen and hope democracy takes root, but want them to occur in a manner that allows all folks to vote safely. I travel quite a bit and have actually lived overseas for 2.5 years or so. Been to: Canada Mexico Bahrain United Arab Emirates Hong Kong (pre and post handover) China Singapore Malaysia Thailand South Korea Brazil Paraguay Argentina Australia Germany Austria Italy The Netherlands Belgium Kenya Tanzania Zimbabwe South Africa Namibia Zambia Belize Guatemala Japan Oman and plan to visit many more. Love to travel. Don't hit many resorts or anything. Hotels when I travel are just a storage space and a place to crash - nothing more.
